30 Days {Day Twenty-eight}

I am thankful for my sewing machine.

One day I said to my mother in law in passing, "I'd sure love to learn how to sew..."  And then for my birthday a few weeks later she got me a sewing machine!  How awesome is she?!  The Wrides are serioulsy good gift-givers.

Though I really don't know what I'm doing, and most the time I make it up, I have loved having that sewing machine.  Peter might tell a slightly different side of the story that involves me cursing at the machine when it doesn't do what I want it to do (someday I really will learn how to use that thing and stop making it up as I go!), but by the time my project is finished all I can think is how much I LOVE my sewing machine.  :) I love making random things for my kids.  I love making Christmas presents for family.  I love making small gifts for friends.  So fun.

And because every post needs a picture, here is one of the most recent things that got sewn on my machine:

(onsies for baby Tyker... cute!)

30 Days {Day Twenty-seven}

I am thankful for Mr. Clean Magic Erasers.

I posted this on facebook, but thought I'd put it here too.  Here is a small sample of Bridget's artwork on our garage door.  Said artwork was also on the fridge, the walls, the floor...

(can you even see it?  not sure the picture does it justice...)

So naughty.

I left her unsupervised with crayons.  Even if it was only for 5 minutes, what was I thinking?!?!  Magic Eraser took it off in no time flat.  Phew.

Bridget was often found over the next few days with a towel she pulled off the oven door, wiping the doors/walls/floors saying quietly to herself, "no, no, no, no, no....  no color...."  Ha!  So sweet that she kept cleaning up after herself.  I think she got the message.

Oh wait, no...

I found her several days later with a highlighter coloring her highchair.

Sigh....

30 Days {Day Twenty-six}

I am thankful that Bridget is old enough to go to nursery!!

Hip, hip...

HOORAY!!!

Here's the big girl after her first day of nursery at church:

Here's what she really thought of it:
(I'm pretty sure my mom has a picture of me that looks EXACTLY like this.)

I asked her to hold her paper that she colored that day so that I could take a picture.  She gave me the stink eye (see picture above) and then promptly threw her paper on the ground and started stomping on it.
I should have taken that as a sign of things to come?  She's a sassy one, that girl.

Good thing she's so cute.
Week one went great, but I think it's because we caught her off guard!  Now that she knows better, she's all tears before we even get to her classroom.  She whines, "No nursery!" the whole way down the hall.  Fingers crossed we figure out this nursery thing sooner rather than later!

30 Days {Day Twenty-five}

I am thankful for cousins.

Harrison LOVES his cousins.  He is very hesitant to play with most kids around him, but tell him that those kids are his cousins and he is in HEAVEN.  Not sure what's up with that?  Bridget is just getting big enough to enjoy the wonderful world of cousins as well.  We love getting together with cousins and we really, really wish that we lived closer to them.

All of them.

Any of them.

To the aunts and uncles reading this blog: please move closer to us.  We need more cousins around here.

P.S. - Sadie, we miss you.  You were suppose to be our one cousin that lived close to us!  Hopefully we'll get to see you soon!

30 Days {Day twenty-four}

I am thankful for PAYDAY!!

Payday is such a glorious day...  Really what I am thankful for is Peter's job.  We've done the "no job" thing a time or two.  I don't think I will ever take for granted how lucky we are that Peter has a job.  And more than that, he has a good job.  Good boss, good coworkers, good benefits...  such a great place to be.  We are very blessed.

Today's payday = Chili's.  A few years back, we use to come to this place on almost a weekly basis.  (don't judge!)  Tonight when we went, I couldn't even think of the last time we had been there!  It had been ages!  For the record, it was delicious.  Until next time, old friend!

30 Days {Day Twenty-three}

I am thankful for a piano in my home.

Peter's aunt and uncle drove this baby to our house all the way from Washington!  I don't know if they know how grateful I am that they did this for us!  (Tammy, are you out there reading this??  I LOVE THIS PIANO.)  This piano belonged to Peter's grandma.  When a little birdie told me (thank you, Valerie!) that it was looking for a new home, it took me about 30 seconds to contact Peter's aunt to ask her if I could have it.  I figured it was a shot in the dark, but somehow all the stars aligned and next thing I knew the piano was at my house!

My house is small, and this piano is crammed into what little space was left in my family room.  Totally worth it.  These two squish onto the piano bench at least once a day to play:

I am so, so thankful to have this piano.  I love the music it brings to my home, and I love how much my kids love it.  I really, REALLY hope they continue to love it when I force them to take piano lessons.  :)  (a mom can dream, right??)

30 Days {Day Twenty-Two}

Today I am thankful that this little baldy has enough hair to do this:

Today was our first day ever with pigtails!  It was kind of a big deal, people.

 Seriously, how cute is she?

I mean, SERIOUSLY.

 If I'm being perfectly honest, this is the reason I posted on my blog after a 2 month absence.  To show all this hair off!  Ha - I use the word "all" loosely...

They were the most adorably pathetic little pigtails you ever saw.  Not much hair to pull into those pigtails (especially on top!), but those little curls were to die for.

I laugh every time I look at these pictures.  She was SO darling with those teen-tiny pigtails, and she was SO happy about them.  (despite what that first picture shows...  she is Peter's daughter after all.  That just shows how thrilled she was when I pulled out the camera.  Happens every time...)  She kept asking all day to look in the mirror, and then got the biggest smile when she saw her little pigtails.  It was so sweet.

And since we are on a roll here with the Bridget pictures...

Bridget's favorite thing to do is color.  The girl spends almost all day, every day coloring or drawing.  When her Magna-doodle is the drawing tool of choice, this is how she does it:

She leans back so that she is kind of half sitting, half laying down, really slumped down in her seat.  Then she sticks one leg straight up in the air and rests her Magna-doodle on it.  I have seen her sit like this for a good 10 minutes before!

You do what you need to do, I guess!

Cute, Bridget.  Love that girl and her sweet little pigtails.  :)
