Happy Birthday Harrison!

Our little baby is two years old. Does this mean I should stop calling him my baby? Sigh... When did he get so big? Do we really have a two year old? How did this happen?

Harrison is in love with Curious George, so this birthday was all monkey business.

Here is Harrison with all of his presents! Looks pretty spoiled, doesn't he? I'd deny it, but it's probably true... He's an only child, I can't help it. In my defense most of those bags have 88 cent dinosaurs from Walmart and dollar presents from Target. I'm not that out of control. (Peter, no comments from you.)

I wanted to take a cute birthday picture but Harrison was way too concerned about the balloons to sit very still for that. Today I asked him what he got for his birthday and he responded "balloons!" Yeah, he loved them. Here's our best shot -

The rest turned out like this...

He was so silly. He would throw a balloon up in the air and laugh until it got close to coming back down,

Then he would close his eyes really tight before it would bounce on his head.

Love this one.

He also really loves Little People so we bought him a Little People Car Wash and a Little People Farm. Both a big hit!

And here's the cake! It's suppose to be Curious George, but he ended up a little too chubby... In the end all I wanted was for him to look like a monkey! I think he turned out pretty good! A little more Super Mario looking than Curious George, but still pretty cute! Harrison called it his "monkey curious george cake" so I call a success! (I know... a lot of cake pictures. Sorry! Mom and Aimee, these are mostly for you :)

And not to be forgotten, this is Harrison's smash cake. (aka his own mini cake he was allowed to smash into)

All of these ended up looking like Harrison was blinking, but really that's him blowing. He closed his eyes with every attempt. He was so funny to watch "blow" out his candles. He was too nervous to get too close to the flame, but it sure didn't keep him from blowing and blowing and blowing!

Still blowing...

One last blow before some help from mommy...

And here he is absolutely thrilled that we let him do it again! :)

And not so thrilled about the smoke from the candles... Smoke is scary, people!

Once the candles had been blown out (twice), Harrison got a go at his smash cake.

There was not much smashing involved. Just a lot of this:

But Peter thought it was tasty!

Still not sure...

And finally we give him a fork. Yep. He wouldn't touch the thing until we gave him a fork. That's so Harrison.

Then the action got started. Kind of...

We finally encouraged him to pick up his cake and take a BIG bite!

FAKE OUT! He picked it up and pretended to eat it. He made chewing noises and everything, but this kid was NOT going to make a mess of his monkey cake, or get frosting all over his hands and face. No real bites of the cake ever happened.

Happy Birthday, Harrison!! We can't believe you are getting so big so fast. You amaze us every day with the new things you are learning and the things you can do. You are such sweetheart and complete joy in our lives. We are so happy that you are a part of our family! Happy, happy birthday!!
