Finally, ultimately and at last... I'm in Sydney!
Sydney, the city with its beautiful harbour, opera house and famous bridge. The city with stunning beaches, mountains and all other lovely suburbs.

I arrived on the night of my birthday and my entrance to the city could not have been more splendid... The bus entered the city through the grandiose Sydney Harbour Bridge and from my window seat I had the perfect view over a beaming Opera House...
Man, I've been in Australia for well over 6 months, but only now do I REALLY feel I'm in AUSTRALIA!
Hip Hip Hooray!
It has been a real pleasure spending the last week in Sydney. It is such a vibrant place, and I really feel at home. (Though as true Melbournian I will never dare to admit it; but Sydney is just spectacular in every aspect!) I even ran into two friends... Imagine! Out of the 4 million people that live in this city and all the tourists that are wandering around, I incidentally manage to run into two people I know. What a strange coincidence!

I've done all the standard things: sightseeing the Darling Harbour (had some real good hot choco milk there), going to a concert at the Opera House (my dad will be so proud! his daughter actually went to a classical concert by herself!), visiting Bondi & Manly beach (ok, I admit... I can't get enough of the surf :-)), bush walking in the Blue Mountains (definitely the last time I'll be doing a bush tour for the many years to come) and shopping of course (for souvenirs, honestly!!!).
However, more importantly I have just tried to enjoy my last days in this magnificent country.
Was it really 6 months ago that I started my epic journey? My plunge into the great unknown? It feels like my family (this includes lovely Lamia) dropped me off at the airport yesterday, even though in-between I have experienced many unforgettable moments and met so many unforgettable people.
To me Australia will always be my own. It is on this corner of the earth that I started a life from scratch and lived a dream.
I realise that I am lucky to have had this opportunity. And yet, even though I believe that luck is something that we create for ourselves, I'm sure that a few angels have treated me favourably :-)
So, as I sit here in a Sydney internet cafe on the eve of my departure to the northern hemisphere, I'd like to share with you one last thought from Down Under and make a wish to the Wizard of Oz:
I'd like to wish for all of us a life filled with adventures, travels and great friendships. Because - or as I have found out - traversing countries, the world and oneself puts you in a permanent happy state of mind....
and really, this is what we all long for in the end.
I've got 9594 kilometres down, and another 17806 to go! I'm on my way back home and it feels good :-)
The best souvenir I could take back with me!
