COOKIES

One day, I was outside tending my garden. (late fall, 2009) The kids were playing on the swing set and noticed my neighbor on the other side of the fence. They got her attention, and pretty soon we were all in her yard. (We love our neighbors!) She casually asked how long it would take to make 300 sugar cookies. I reassured her that it wouldn't take not long at all. She could even space it out, because sugar cookies store really well. A few moments later, and she asked if I could do the job, and get paid for it. Are you kidding!? I said I would think about it.... Well, I took the opportunity. She ended up only needing 175 sugar cookies with 6 tubs of frosting for a party in early December. Done. (I actually made 190 because some of them were really small.) I made them over the space of three days. It was delightful! My house smelled delicious! She said it was a hit, and several people asked for my name. I laughed. My husband thinks it would be a good business. I reminded him we ate really poorly planned dinners those nights, and the kids were allowed to watch more TV than is needed. I will say it was so fun, and food for thought. I would definitely do it again. Not to mention the fact that it paid for Christmas. Wonderful! So thank you to my lovely neighbor Shawn! I really enjoyed making them, and knowing they were enjoyed! As a thank you Shawn gave Pinkie and I matching pink aprons. They are adorable! Almost to cute to wear while you are baking. They are more of a hosting apron. So cute!

My Boy

Oh how I love this little man! He turned eight and chose to get baptized. What an experience! He was so excited, and a little bit nervous. You can see it in his eyes. We had all of our family and friends there to support him. The program was interesting. The person with the actual paper program didn't show up, so they announced me as "Sister Christiansen" to say the opening prayer. Ha! Not even close. They skipped the musical #. But, not knowing this, it was overall pretty good. A good talk, then several baptisms. Bud and Rocky looked so cute in white jumpsuits. Bud kept exhaling with his mouth trying to take in the whole experience. He was baptized and then Rocky confirmed him. What a wonderful blessing! I hope he always remembers the day. I know I will. I am so proud of him! He is a wonderful son. He is so kind. He is a great big brother. I don't know what I did to have such a good boy, but I love him, and I thank my Father in Heaven everyday for my boy.

Birthdays

Before Christmas can even think about coming we have to celebrate birthdays. Bud turned the big 8. He wanted a scout hat for his cake. Frosting only, no fondant. Done. He has been so excited to join scouts, and be baptized. Too fun. Pinkie turned 5, and had her first friend party. She had a purse themed party, but then wanted a dirt cake. She had so much fun at her party, and was completely spoiled. Here are the kids making their own pizzas for Pinkie's birthday dinner. Pinkie taking a turn at the pinata. Bud blowing out his candle. So great! I have really enjoyed this age with my kids. They are discovering new things all of the time, and claiming their independence more and more. It is so fun to be their mom, and watch them grow. I love them so very much!
