Love Malcolm

THE BOY

Malcolm doesn't like his picture taken as much as his sister does, but I've seen that same face on Stella when I make her do stuff she doesn't want to do.

Malcolm loves to cuddle with Mommy.

Stella loves to play with Malcolm even though he's tiny and can only eat, sleep, and poo. I think she's playing school with him. Turns out he's a good, but very emotional student.

Both the pediatrician and my midwife were impressed that Malcolm could keep the binki in his mouth and commented that he has a great sucking reflex . . . well, good grief I could have told them that! God bless Lansinoh.

. . . but he doesn't always have to have the binki. Hopefully this will make it easy to ween him from it later (or sooner).

Watching the game with Daddy-O.

Malcolm's hair will only stay down right after a bath. I'm afraid Elliot and I have given both of our children the blessing of some serious cowlicks.

Mr. Cuteness

Isn't it irritating when people post pretty much the same picture of their child several times in the same post on their blog? . . . uh, now I know why they do it. It's so hard to choose which absolutely adorable picture to post! I can't resist every little part of my little Malcolm!

All By Herself

Stella is such a great big sister. Most of the time she thinks she's Malcolm's mother, despite our many, many reminders to the contrary. Stella can change Malcolm's diaper and clothes all by herself and does a great job!

Malcolm was a little worried at first, but he did great.

(she needed a little "point that thing down" tip on the diaper changing after the little guy peed all over everything but his diaper)

Malcolm does love Stella!

Family Movie Night

We had our first family movie night with Malcolm when he was a few days old. Stella pretty much hogged him the whole time. She's a multi-tasker.

Stella's first movie in the theater was "Napoleon Dynamite" when she was 6 weeks old which could be one of the many reasons she's a little looney. We'll be a little more judicious with Malcolm's first theater movie.

But this night we watched "Rio" (Stella and Malcolm's first sibling gift). Stella watched it another 17 times in the next few days. (I just realized this picture is in a different language . . .)

We're famous because Elliot's cousin David Dibble was the Color Key Artist for this movie. If you download the app "Rio Coloring with Blu" and click on the Creating With Color, you can see David's little commercial for how he was involved in the movie. It's so much work being famous.

Malcolm's First Bath

September 1, 2011

Malcolm wasn't a fan of his first bath. Elliot and I still don't know what we're doing.

In other news, his lung capacity is above average. ANGRY.

Stella was our photographer and did a great job. Plenty of junk shots.

She also calmed him down after he was all cleaned up. Malcolm loves his big Sissy.

Stella Cracks Me Up!

I gave up being embarrassed a long time ago when I couldn't quite control the absolutely crazy things that would come out of Stella's mouth. No use in being embarrassed about what comes out of her pencil either, right?

At least I know she gives her teacher a good laugh every day.

More Visitors

We're trying to get pictures of all of our visitors, but sometimes I'm just so excited about showing him off that I forget to pick up the camera! So sorry if you're not pictured. I guess you'll just have to visit again! :)

Brooke Cook came over with the kids to cuddle with Malcolm for a little while.

Kimmie Curry . . . very happy to meet Malcolm, but I think a little disappointed that he didn't come out with glasses like his Daddy.

Mike, Max, and Mari, . . . we love our Ashby family.

Max even wanted to hold the baby. He's a big boy. He told us.

Jacqui, Samantha, and Mark Ortega loved a little Malcolm for a while.

The carpool kiddos even came over early one morning to take another look at Stella's baby brother.

And Miss Hannah quietly asked me if she could hold Malcolm. I love it that she was finally ready. I love her and she loves Baby Malcolm.

Spencer, Corissa, and Ellie came for a visit and Ellie got her first lessons in trying to be "soft." Kids crack me up.

Uncle Adam finally got over his cold so he could come over to hold Malcolm.

Uncle Keith, Aunt Lindsay, Hannah, and Brynlee topped off Malcolm's 2nd week of life with a super fun visit. See, Malcolm is even smiling.

Not pictured: Auntie Em (again), Rebecca and Beth Edholm, Laurie Evans, Ruth Ann Baker, and the grandparents.

Malcolm's First Day

Malcolm had a very busy first day. We were so excited for everyone to finally meet him!

Of course Stella was his first visitor.

Grandma Dibble got to be the second because she was the chauffeur. I think she loves him already.

Malcolm was exhausted. So he took a nap on Daddy. Since he couldn't stay in my womb forever, Malcolm decided that this is his new favorite place.

Grandma and Grandpa Anderson visited next. Actually, they visited twice (my house was close and someone had to pee). Dad is comparing Stella's newborn picture to Malcolm. They do look similar.

Aunt Lindsay brought the girls (and lunch) to meet Malcolm. She had to give him up for Grandpa Dibble's visit, but got him back instantly.

Grandpa Dibble visited before his business trip and fell in love.

Brynlee finally got around to holding him and we're happy that Grandma Anderson was nearby when Brynnie decided she was done holding him. I'm sure there will be a lot more shoving Malcolm in the Brynlee/Malcolm future. Hannah wasn't quite ready to hold Malcolm on this day.

Aunt Bethany squeezed in a visit after school.

Grandma Dibble brought Stella back for another visit after her gymnastics class. It was a little bit of torture for Stella to have to leave again.

Our first family-of-four picture.

I like this one though. It's more realistic. :)

Lucy and Xan got to hold Malcolm. It's so fun to hear little kids say his name.

Anabelle lovin' a little Malcolm (Claire patiently waiting her turn).

Clairie finally getting her turn.

Raymond finally has a boy cousin on the Dibble side.

George was at Scouts I think and Adam was feeling crappy, so Malcolm still needs a little more loving from family!

Not pictured, but visited: Emily "Auntie Em" Campbell and kids, Liz Roberts, Jessica Martin, Grace & Jeff Yates, Alison Haasch (my midwife), and I'm sure someone else came too, but give me a break . . . I just had a baby. :)

Malcolm had such a great first day that he decided to stay awake all night!
