Elliot had his annual company conference at the Four Seasons Resort in Scottsdale this year. I seem to recall taking Stella for a night last year and vowing never to bring her again, but there she is. She gets so incredibly excited about staying at hotels and resorts that she is even more impossible to get to bed. She finally zonked out after 11 p.m. and many, many threats on her life, but not before she knocked a Heineken out of the fridge and broke it. Luckily we didn't have to pay for it.
The next morning I got a prenatal massage. Holy moly. Wow. Amazing. I should get one every week! Elliot is so wonderful for signing me up! Elliot was also able to finally enjoy his very first massage while he was at the resort. He's never wanted one (or had time), so when someone else canceled and he had a morning free of meetings, he got one and LOVED IT!
Elliot and Stella went swimming during my massage and I joined them a little later. We went to eat lunch at the President's suite and Stella go to hold Elliot's coworker's new baby girl. She was in heaven! I had to laugh because as I was talking to the mother of the wee babe about her birth story, suddenly I looked up and noticed that EVERYONE in the room had shifted from the seating area to standing in the dining area. What? Have you never heard a birth story or do you just not like hearing about placentas?
The night we got there, we joined Elliot in his schmoozing of the clients. I guess in previous years, everyone had been a little rowdy meeting in just one suite, so they split it up into 4 suites that everyone could rotate to throughout the evening. Stella acted all shy when we first got there, but within a minute, we looked over in the corner where we heard laughing and saw her sitting there with some clients chatting it up and making them laugh. It's still a mystery how she is my child. She talked to everyone and told them ridiculous stories until Elliot got embarrassed and sent us back to our room.
I was able to join Elliot again on Friday night (thank you Grandma for watching Stella). He was in meetings most of the day, so I got to spend a little bit of time at the pool and take a soak in the tub. He let me join him in his evening rotation of chatting with clients at different suites and didn't even send me back to the room because I didn't embarrass him with stories like Stella does. However, he may have been embarrassed by my size because apparently I'm huge. For as I walked into one of the suites, someone took one look at me, gasped over-dramatically, and said, "Do you need a wheelchair? You're HUGE!" Seriously people . . . have you never seen a pregnant person?!

32 Weeks Pregnant
June 19, 2011 (that was last week)
SICKNESS: none
CRAVINGS: Wendy's Frosty and french fries (same with Stella's pregnancy only I haven't been dipping them)
FEELINGS: I feel like we both had a growth spurt. Interesting, I know, since we're already huge, but I can tell a difference. Suddenly his kicks and punches are reaching into my ribs and in my pelvis at the same time, so I know he's either bigger or there really is more than one baby in there . . . or I have some serious gas. All very good possibilities.
I interviewed 2 midwives and 1 naturopathic doctor and was able to make my decision from those interviews. I hired the midwife that fit my personality and had my first appointment with her 2 weeks ago. Baby Boy is perfect and even had his first inadvertent stress test while we were listening to his heart beat when Stella stood next to my belly and yelled at him. All of my levels are perfect and the midwife even commented without having to touch my legs/ankles that I obviously DO NOT have edema. I have increased my intake of protein to avoid that very thing. Too bad the day after 32 weeks I started swelling a little bit, but there is no comparison to how swollen I was for months with Stella. We're talking tree trunks. All is well and we're right on track for a mid- to end-August birth!
I can say that by 32 weeks I was still completely comfortable and had no complaints at all. 32 weeks and 1 day suddenly got a little uncomfortable. I can still sleep comfortably most of the time unless my legs are restless (which they always are the second I get pregnant), I can still walk around most of the day without waddling and I can still reach things on the floor, however, I really, really, really don't want to wear clothes anymore. So if you happen to show up at my house unexpectedly and it takes me a while to answer the door or if Stella's yelling through the window that I am putting my clothes back on, please forgive me. Also, please forgive me if I actually answer the door when I've forgotten that I've already disrobed. It's your fault for not calling first. :)
People are funny. I recognize that yes, indeed, my belly and some other parts of me have increased significantly in size over the last several months. Have you never seen a pregnant person before? Besides 1 or 2 other questions about just how many babies there might be in there, the most recent comment was an overly dramatic gasp upon my entering the room and the insulting question that followed, "Do you need a wheelchair? YOU'RE HUGE!" It's a good thing I have a friend who is completely complimentary every time she sees me no matter what she really might be thinking.
We had a fairly mild Spring, almost cold. I think I tried to trick myself into thinking that summer would be mild too. Not so. It kind of hit suddenly and let's just say there's a lot of under-boob sweat going on here (I can think of at least 4 people who are really going to enjoy that comment). So Stella and I were in the car last week and I was getting really upset that my A/C didn't seem to be working even though it was on full blast! I could feel little bursts of cool air, but mostly I just couldn't cool down! I was getting a little upset and said, "Ugh, I can't believe the air conditioner isn't working, I'm totally sweating!" . . . to which Stella responded, "Oh, it's because I have my heater on." Poor little thing was freezing in the back seat.
I thought we were close to choosing his name. Yeah, not so much.
THINGS TO DO:
- Wow. We're having a baby. What am I supposed to do? I've seriously forgotten.
- Find a carseat, stroller, and jogging stroller that I like. Any ideas? It's been a while.
- Register for above mentioned items and try to remember what other items babies need.
- Call pediatrician to let her know we're having another baby and ask some questions.
- Continue Hypnobabies scripts, relaxation techniques, and exercises.
- Make final draft of Birth Plan.
- Figure out a way to take back the statement, "You get to hold him whenever you want" that I said to Stella several months ago. I can totally see her in his crib all day.
- Pick his name already, for crying out loud in the middle of the night!

They're Back!
We were so happy that Aunt Lindsay called on Saturday morning after our return from California to invite us to go swimming at her house! HER HOUSE . . . that means THEY ARE BACK FROM INDIANA!! We are sooooo happy! Sure it's nice that Lindsay and Keith are around, but YAHOO for HANNAH and BRYNLEE!! We love them.
They love television.
We also loved swimming, but didn't get any pictures of it. I could have taken a picture of the skin that was ripped off my neck as a result of having 3 adorable girls latched onto me in the pool as we did "Motor Boat, Motor Boat" a hundred times before I felt like I was going to give birth. "Again, Again, Again!" was all Brynlee would say. I love it.
I love my belly.
The girls also love a fun bath and Justin Beiber's music video. I love it when Brynlee raps with Ludacris.
I LOVE THESE GIRLS! Welcome back!

South Carlsbad Beach Camping - Day 5
SAVE THE SEAWEED
Garrett was quite the engineer with his construction of this little swing. I'm sure Stella thought it was all for her.
The last day of camp is always the worst. There's not a lot of playing and too much clean up. We made breakfast, so we got to clean that up as well as the camp. It always seems like everyone is in such a hurry on the last day. Not my favorite.
But I do love to take that one last walk on the beach before we drive away. Elliot chose not to come down with us (having only been walking on his foot for one week was painful). But Beth came with us.
I didn't think we were down there for very long, but apparently it was long enough for me to get a sunburn . . .
. . . and for Stella to get completely wet and sandy.
Also enough time for Sarah and Lorraine to do Yoga and headstands.
Tyler, Sarah, Stella, Joe, and Dara liked the last walk on the beach.
Joe especially liked it.
Some of our favorite people.
Oh look, there's more.
For some reason, Beth was really excited to sit in the back seat with Stella for the next 6 hours.
See ya next year . . . we'll have a 9-month-old baby brother to consume his portion of sand by then. :)

South Carlsbad Beach Camping - Day 4
It's no Oregon Coast, but it was pretty chilly when we went to the beach this day. I went to the store while everyone headed down to the beach and this is how I found Stella and Elliot upon my return. She was freezing and pretty much just cuddled with Elliot for the first while. He didn't mind at all. :)
Sarah
Macy
Sam
Clark
Once she figured out that it was warmer NOT under the shade of the canopy, Stella ventured out to watch the waves. She didn't get in the water very much.
Sarah, Stella, and Emma collected shells instead of playing in the water.
Reagan rolled around the beach most of the day. I'm not kidding. I wish I had more pictures of the different areas we would suddenly find her. I'm sure Lynnae had a great time getting all of the sand out of every crevice in her body. She was a mess.
Speaking of mess . . . Franklin. He even made a new friend with another curly-headed boy who's family set up camp right next to us. They had a great time eating sand.
Stella made some new friends as well. She was buried for several hours . . .
. . . before she turned into a mermaid.
We ran into some old friends that used to be in our ward that just happened to be beach camping with some of their friends as well. We set up quite the compound of lazy adults.
Lynnae, Sarah, Lorraine
Speaking of lazy . . . this is pretty much what we did all day (besides the trek ALL the way up the 76 steps to go pee).
I got up once so Elliot could take a picture of my giant 30 week belly.

South Carlsbad Beach Camping - Day 3
On Wednesday, we took the day off of the beach and went to the San Diego Zoo with Travis, Lorraine, Sarah, and Garrett.
The BEST part of the zoo, BY FAR, was the gorillas. The Boss gorilla had his rear right against the glass display when we first walked up to it, but Stella was too busy looking far into the habitat for the other gorillas that she didn't see him 1 foot away from her. I wish I would have had video of when she finally did see him as she walked along the glass case because it was quite the shock and hilarious.
The Boss gorilla moved to a better seat to observe 2 other gorillas totally wrestling. Stella was concerned for a little bit because of the bearing of teeth, the smacking of their heads against the glass, and the sudden attacks . . . but when I pointed out that she does the same things to us at home, she was like, "Oh." Then she was fine and thought it was hilarious.
The gorillas wrestled for quite some time until the little gorilla won by sitting on the bigger gorilla's head. So entertaining.
Stella would totally ride a gorilla.
We stuck around some of the animals a little longer than we needed just so see if they were real . . .
. . . like this alligator . . . it never moved . . .
. . . and this hippo . . . also, never moved. Travis is still convinced that they were statues.
The Pandas had their very own private display where we were instructed to whisper even though there was a zoo lady using a microphone to describe Panda behavior and these specific pandas.
Interesting facts:
1) These pandas only weigh about 120 pounds (the zoo lady was very defensive of his size and said at least 3 times that size does not matter),
2) they are vegetarians and only eat cold/moist bamboo or leaves so the zoo has to refrigerate their foliage,
3) the girl panda is only fertile 2 days out of the year,
4) me too,
5) if she is pregnant, she's due in August,
6) me too,
7) once again in defense of the boy panda's size, the zoo lady said, "he hasn't ever missed those 2 days."
8) neither has Elliot.
After the San Diego Zoo took Beth's life savings to pay for lunch, we headed over to the Polar Bears.
This one was cooling his uma-goolies.
Did you know that polar bears can be 10 feet tall? Stella wanted to climb the bigger one, but I wouldn't let her.
My favorite zoo sign of the day was at the lion cage. We needed one of those at our house when my cousins would teach us how to do blue darts.
The best quote of the day, even though I didn't get it, came with observing the camels when Elliot said something about this pathetic looking creature listening to Bob Marley and not being able to give up the ganja.
We made it around to most of the rest of the zoo, including the petting zoo (which I avoided), until the kids decided they were done (I was sort of done too . . . but not until I got my giant over-priced chocolate ice cream cone).
. . . guaranteed that Stella's favorite part of the zoo didn't have anything to do with the animals.
It was a lot of walking, but it was an absolutely beautiful day and the animals were out where we could see them . . . that's a successful zoo trip. I was excited for a little nap when we got back to camp because of the massive headache I was working on, but what we were really excited about was this bowl of goodness. . .
Lorraine makes the best guacamole!
It was good for the kids to spend the day apart because they played so nicely together when we got back.
Marshmallow face.
