Laugh

I ran my first post-baby race on Saturday morning.  You can read about it HERE.

We made it to Katie's doctor appointment with 5 minutes to spare.  Her surgery is scheduled for June 14th.  And her ear infection is gone!  This last antibiotic has finally done it!  YAY!

Katie's little personality is coming out again and she is such a happy baby.  This was last night out at Tyson's parents.

I'm a Mommy

and I love it.

Remember in the last post how I said that if Katie had another ear infection, she would be getting tubes.  Well tubes it is.  Plus, she's on a nasty antibiotic that comes in the form of ginormous needles, once a day until Wednesday.  As she was getting her first round today, the nurse said to me, "I'm not going to lie to you - this shot is painful.  I've had it myself."  My poor baby!

We are scheduled to meet with the ear, nose and throat doctor on Saturday the 21st.  Oh, I'm also running a half marathon a few hours before our appointment.  That should be fun getting from Ogden down to the Riverton hospital in time.  I guess it will make me run faster.

Momma Called the Doctor

Katie went to the doctor 3 times in the month of April.

The first time was for another double ear infection (her second) combined with bronchiolitis.  10 days of antibiotics and lots mucus suction were prescribed. They even got the freaky suction machine, held her down and stuffed it up her nose (obviously harder on Mom, especially once I saw the tears streaming down).

Less than a week later we were back for her 6 month check-up.  She is growing good (on her little growing curve)... only 13lbs 11oz and 25.8 inches long.  She is average for her length and only in the 10th percentile for her weight.  And she has a teeny, tiny little head.

Day 10 of her antibiotics came and she was still tugging at her ear, so I took her back in on Friday.  Ear infection is still there.  In both ears.  So she is on an even stronger antibiotic and we were told that if she came in with another ear infection within the next month, she was going to get tubes.  HATE!

During all of this, Katie is a very good and happy baby.  The only way that I can tell that she is sick is that she doesn't sleep through the night.

One more picture because I love it.  This is a face that she makes A LOT these days.  She likes to suck on her bottom lip.  It makes me laugh.

She is getting so big and can sit up and play on her own.  She is really good with her hands and passes things back and forth without dropping them.  I love to just sit and watch her play.

Pool Party

Katie had her first experience in a swimming pool over the weekend.
She was pretty nervous and wouldn't smile at all.  She just clung to Tyson and then to me (once I got in).
After a couple of minutes, Tyson tried to put her into a little floaty... and she immediately started to cry and wouldn't stop until she was safetly wrapped in towels and warm.
We will try again in a month or two and hopefully she will like it... and we think that she will.  She loves bath time and loves to splash and splash and splash.

I think this pool's water was a little too chilly for her (and she was tired and hungry).
