When Sam turned sixteen back in October, the interrogations began.
You know the ones.
"so have you gone out on a date yet?"
"When's your first date?"
Questions like that.
Sam really doesn't talk much about girls.
Or anything.
However, one day he came home and showed me a post it note.
It had actually been rolled up in a ball of yarn that he had to unravel.
He had been asked to girl's choice!
We answered her with a package of Hostess Ding Dongs and altered the box to say,
"I'd be a Ding Dong if I didn't say YES!"
For the date Sam actually volunteered our house for a cooking competition. The couples went to the store with a recipe, bought the ingredients, then brought them back to the kitchen to make them. They had a ton of fun and the food turned out delicious (so they say).
Sam and his date, Rachael made the dessert.
Somehow I didn't get a picture of the other dates, but here's one of Sam and Rachael.
After the dinner, it was off to the dance. It was a Tropical theme I guess, so the girls provided some leis and other accessories.
And because they are 16, but no one is able to drive friends yet, I guess the girls' parents drove!
I didn't know about that until later.
