Enoch's Fall Soccer Experience

Enoch started soccer this fall with a new team.  This one is located here in our valley which makes my gasoline bill so much easier to look at.
It is also a U-14 team which means that he is playing with boys a year older than he is.
He didn't care though.
Just happy he could play some soccer.
He did a great job and really held his own with the older boys.

He had to change his number for the team.
He chose 32 which was David Beckham's last number before he retired.
Enoch has always played with a Beckham number, and this team is no exception.

He played midfielder most of the time -which is his favorite, but also played a lot of time as forward.
And, much to my dismay, he wanted to be reserve goalkeeper.
He does enjoy goalkeeping, I just get to stressed on the sidelines watching him.
Luckily he does a great job.

One game was a "just for fun" scrimmage against the girls team here in town.

It was a fun game to watch and to make it doubly fun,
Enoch's cousin and good friend Brynne plays on the girls team.
The boys won the game, but they all had fun playing together.

You can sure tell why these two have been accused of being twins before.

Here's to a great fall season of soccer!

Marching Band Season

Marching band season is officially over, and that means that Kiera's time in the high school marching band has come to a close.  It is hard to believe that we are once again in the year of the "lasts" when we have a senior finishing up all of their activities.

After a few years of fundraising, the band raised enough money for much-needed new uniforms.
They really looked great out on the field.

It was Sam's first year doing the field show. He did great!
His favorite part was hanging out with his friends at the football games.

Here at the Riot..!

What happens when you go with your dad to get the tires rotated on the car?  You enter to win a contest.  And, if you're Enoch, a couple of days later you get a call telling you that you won said contest.
The contest consisting of two hours at Rio Tinto Stadium playing on the field with three players from Real Salt Lake.  I still can't believe the kid won.
I was the lucky parent who got to go with since we had to be there at 4:30pm and Aaron doesn't get home from work until 5:00 pm.

We had no idea who the three players would be.
It turned out to be
 Luke Mulholland, a midfielder
Devon Sandoval, a forward
Jeff Attinella, goalkeeper.

Out on the field they had each player do different drills with the kids there.
Enoch's favorite was getting to shoot against a professional keeper.
And no, he didn't get any goals past Jeff. But he sure had fun trying!

After playing on the field, they came into the stadium, ate treats and had a question/answer session with the players.  Then they all agreed to sign autographs.
Enoch brought his number seven jersey there just for that purpose.

On our way out, we stopped and took some pictures by some other neat displays there.
Not sure if we'll ever be back to that part of the stadium to see them again.

Nick Rimando's jersey celebrating his 100th shut out.
On the way home, Enoch called Aaron, and in describing the evening he just used one word:
FANTASTIC!

Traditional First Day of School Pictures

Samuel and Enoch on their way out the door Monday morning.

Kiera left earlier because she has early morning jazz band practice.  I'm still trying to wrap my mind around the fact that this is her senior year.

Enoch starting seventh grade.

Samuel starting his freshman (9th grade) year.

The RANDOM things we do in SUMMER!

Summertime!  I can't believe how fast it went by!  So many things kept us busy.

We had lots of campfire cookouts in the backyard.

Joined a worldwide family reunion

Played mini-golf.  I think Shenna was the winner.

Oh, just took a quick trip to Central America

Donated five pairs of soccer cleats in varying sizes to children in Belize.

Spent lots of time staying cool by the pool.

Went to see a movie about emotions.  Then showed different ones for photo op.

Attended a niece's wedding. Then took pictures with random family members.

Sent our youngest on his first week-long scout camp.

Watched Sam put his tech skills to work running the lights for  a theatre in town.

Took Shenna back down to college for her sophomore year.

Realized while taking this picture, that this would be Kiera's last fair parade to march in.

Had a great time watching the fair parade go by on main street. Except I couldn't help missing a certain someone who was here with me last year. http://www.whitakerlife.blogspot.com/2014/08/county-fair-parade.html

And, Enoch held a pretty tiny baby!  Might have been his first time too.  When you're the youngest, you don't have as many opportunities for that sort of thing.

End of the School Year Events

There are always a lot of events that take place at the end of the school year.
Here are a few highlights.
Enoch did well enough in 6th grade academically that he was able to go to the exclusive
Breakfast of Champions .Only the top 20% get to go.
We are proud of him and all his hard work.

His good friend, Hunter also received the award as well.

We also had a few concerts to go to. I only took pictures at a couple of them.
Kiera's concert/madrigal concert was very nice and I made sure to take some pictures of all the strange faces that get pulled in between songs.

for the last couple of weeks at school, Kiera and her friends dressed up for different decades.  The day of the concert had been "1940's"  so I caught a couple of her friends still dressed up and took this picture.

Another concert was the band concert that features all the bands from the three secondary schools.  It may be long, but at least I only have to sit through one concert and see all my kids instead of three.

Enoch has enjoyed playing the clarinet this year, but he'll switch to the saxophone for 7th grade. Samuel is still playing the trumpet of course.
