The First and the Last

Spring is here and so is the last official high school dance of the school year!
Luckily for Kiera, she had her 16th birthday 6 days before the dance.
That way, she could say yes, when Cameron asked her to go with him.
It wasn't even my suggestion, but Kiera decided she wanted to borrow a dress that we had already purchased for Shenna.  I didn't mind one bit, and it really looked great on her!

And of course, when Cameron came to pick her up, I had to take pictures of her attempting
to stab him put on the boutonniere.
I think Aaron had a few mixed feelings about this one heading off on her first date.

Shenna also was asked to this dance. But of course, she is an old pro at dances now.
This was her last dance in high school.
I think I must be used to her going out on dates.  So much so, that I didn't get a picture of her putting on the boutonniere!
I'm sure she won't be sad about that though.  Her usual sentiment is that I take too many pictures!

My regret is that I didn't get a picture of the two of them together:
one going to her first high school dance and the other going to her last.
But with dates picking up at different times, when one daughter was leaving,
the other was still in her room sans make-up and hair done.
Ah, the joys of having girls!

It's Sweet 16!

In our neighborhood,
Kiera's birthday is almost the last one out of the girls her age.
It seems like all her friends have had their birthdays long before she does.
It finally rolled around for her though, and this little fireball turned the big
16!

Over the years, Kiera has had many a picture on her birthday taken with
her older sister right by her side.
This year Shenna decided to make the most of it.
Yes, the silly face is on purpose.

Since her birthday fell on a Sunday this year, it was pretty low key.
We had a good dinner of chicken and rice, topped off with a chocolate birthday cake.

Later on in the afternoon, a knock came on the door.
Somehow someone was able to tape all these hearts to the door and leave treats
without us catching them.
VERY STEALTHY.

It's hard to believe that daughter #2 has reached the age of 16 already.
I'm so proud of the beautiful person she is becoming.
