The Pod Swaddler License Agreement Description

The Pod Swaddler is the perfect item to sell in your boutique, craft fair or Etsy shop. So many have asked if they could buy a Pod already made. But in this season of my life I just don't have the time to make them and sell them. This is a WONDERFUL OPPORTUNITY for you!

This is a request for a Pod Swaddler™ Selling License. After agreeing to the list of terms, and after you make this purchase. An agreement will be sent to you via email in pdf form.

Please remember that licensing is not complete until both parties have signed the Pod Swaddler License Agreement.

Terms:
* Licensee must be original purchaser of While They Sleep's Pod Swaddler™ pattern.
* Licensee agrees to pay a $100 fee for a Pod Swaddler™ selling license. This license is good for up to a year after purchase date. This fee is non-refundable once the agreement has been signed.
* If licensee wishes to partner with another individual in business, the partner must also purchase his/her own pattern and license.
* Licensee agrees to only produce items from home. No commercial production is allowed.
* Licensee agrees not to re-distribute the pattern, or any portion of the pattern, at any time, whether in electronic, written, or verbal form.
* Licensee will identify Pods produced for sale with credit to While They Sleep and label item with the pattern name (e.g. The Pod Swaddler™ designed by Hannah Stevenson of While They Sleep. www.while-they-sleep.blogspot.com).
* Licensee will also identify himself as a “While They Sleep Licensed Pod Swaddler™ artisan.”
* This agreement in no way makes the Licensee an employee of While They Sleep, but an independent contractor.
* If licensee violates any of the above terms, or engages in unethical business practices, While They Sleep reserves the right to revoke this license at any time.
* While They Sleep reserves the right to refuse to sell a license to any person for any reason.

Agreement will be e-mailed to you within 24-48 hours after payment is received. It will be e-mailed to the address you provided to PayPal.

Thanks and I look forward to watching your success!

The Pod Swaddler PDF Pattern Description

Before I say anything else, the best part about this pattern is that it is designed to only take 1 hour (maybe 2 the first time you make it). It is EASY and designed with the beginner in mind. OK now you can read the rest:

When our twin girls were born early, the nurses in the NICU taught me the art of swaddling and all of the advantages to doing it. All of my babies have loved to be swaddled...but I would get frustrated with the blankets either being to bulky or to easy to escape ;). When I was a baby, my mom put me in an Indian cradle board (she actually used this for all six of her children). It is a leather and wood contraption that she could tighten in the front. She said that we were always very content when she put us in this. So with the idea of being able to tie the front, coupled with my love for designer fabrics, the Pod Swaddler was born!

The Benefits of the Pod Swaddler:

* The Pod has been designed to make it easy for you to swaddle your baby.

* One size fits most. You can adjust it depending on the size of your babe

* Stays secure and keeps arms in.

* The Pod won’t hinder development of hips and knees. As baby grows, his/her legs extend beyond the tight portion of the wrap for free movement and joint development.

* Very Simple Design. No confusing folding or latching.

* You can also tie the Pod around your baby allowing arms to be free. This is a great alternative to a blanket as baby can't kick off the covers and stays safe

* Helps your baby sleep comfortably on his/her back.

* Easy to use - even in the dark!

* Easy to wash and use over and over again.

* No Velcro to catch on everything in the dryer, no buttons or snaps - just an easy tie and you are done.

* Fun, unique pattern that allows you to swaddle your baby in any designer fabric of your choice!

HELP!!!!

Okay guys, so I'm working on a new pattern to put into the shop and need your help! First of all I apologize for the dark photos. As the blog indicates, I do this stuff while the girls sleep. Norah woke up so we did some photos. This is our third "test snuggler". I like this model the best so far but I need opinions...not "nice" opinions. I want real constructive criticism. Here are my questions:

1. Is there anything in the design that you would change?
2. When you look at this do you have any questions about how it works?
3. Is there too much white (or whatever color of fabric would be in the middle?)
4. How much would you pay for one of these if you were in the market for a swaddler?
5. How much would you pay for a pattern?
6. Anything else you want to say?
7. And last what would you name this? Here are some ideas I've come up with:

The POD Snuggler
PEA POD
POD
The POD Swaddler

I'm going to send the pattern to a few sewers I know and hopefully they will find any bugs I have missed. I'm actually looking for a few beginners so I can see if it all makes sense to a novice so don't be shy if you have limited sewing skills...mmmkay? And heck it's a chance for you to get a free pattern. If you are interested in testing out the pattern just leave it in your comments or shoot me an email.

Thanks in advance for your help!

The Pod Swaddler - Giveaway Day!

SORRY GIVEAWAY IS CLOSED!!!

First of all I'd like to say "Welcome" to all of you that have come here for the first time today. I am really glad you stopped by. I hope you will find some inspiration and comfort here.

Now on to the reason all of you are here:

Today is the day! The Pod Swaddler pattern is finished and ready and IN the shop.

To celebrate I will be giving away TWO prizes!

The first is a PDF Pod pattern complete with a tutorial and printable instructions for use sent to you via email.

The second prize is your very own Pod made by Moi' (that's "me" in french...I know you knew that).

"So what do I need to do to get in on this totally awesome giveaway?" you ask.

Here are the rules:

I will be choosing a winner from two places on this blog:

1. The comments section (just leave me a comment telling me who you'd make this for)
2. The friends section (to become a friend just click on the "follow this blog" or " join this site" section on the side of the blog).

If you are not comfortable becoming friends yet, I totally understand...for heaven's sake we've just met! So don't feel any pressure to do this (although I promise you won't be sorry if you do).

So really if you are both a friend AND a commenter you really have TWO chances to WIN!

GIVEAWAY CLOSES:
THURSDAY AUGUST 6th AT midnight MST
I will post the winners here on Friday Morning the 7th. There will also be a little treat for everyone who enters. So stay tuned to find out what that will be!

Norah says:

And so do I!

P.S. If you post this giveaway on your own blog so all your friends, family, acquaintances, and enemies can see it, and you end up winning, I will throw in an extra pattern from my shop to sweeten the deal.

P.P.S. If you are more of a "I put inspirational blogs in my sidebar section" kind of person like I am, this counts as being a friend/follower of While They Sleep. Just leave me another comment (so two total) letting me know that I am on your side bar. If you do all three (comment, side bar comment, and friend/follower), that gives you even more chances to win!

Big Announcement #1 and a Special Deal ONLY for My Readers!

Do you ever wonder what it would have been like to live in a previous generation?  What would your worries be? What would your passions be?

WHAT WOULD YOU BE WEARING?

It's fun to look back on the styles and patterns of yesteryear!  It's actually a little passion of mine. If you gave me whole day to do whatever I wanted, I would probably choose (after sleeping A LOT)a day filled with antique shops, garage sales and thrift stores looking for patterns and pictures that inspire. I have a feeling I'm not alone!

For a while now I have been collecting vintage pattern books and pamphlets.  I also have a collection of clippings from old vintage magazines (like really old).  I love the styles and the inspiration they bring.

So here's the BIG ANNOUNCEMENT:

I have an ever growing pile of patterns that I have learned recently can be shared as they are now considered "public domain" (i.e. their copyright has expired and not been renewed).  So I have started the process of cleaning them up and creating PDF's to be purchased in the shop

To celebrate, and to thank all of you for your support and kindness. I will be offering ALL the patterns in the shop (yes even the Pod and Scoop patterns) at 30% off!  This is ONLY for you.

IMPORTANT: When you check out, just put "Friend" in notes to seller and I will reimburse you 30% of your purchase.

Here are a few of my favorites:

Paton's Bayeux Crocheted Pilot-style hat

Bear Brand Babushka Style Hat Knitting Pattern

Brunswick Hooded Sweater Knitting Pattern

Paton's Crusader Hat Knitting Pattern

Also, you can bet that I will be sharing some of these patterns with you FREE of charge in future posts.  Just stay with me ladies....there are some exciting gifts on the way!

LAST DAY OF HALF OFF SALE

Just a reminder!  Pod patterns will be $10 tomorrow so if you are wanting to get one, TODAY is the day!

Also to those of you who have already purchased a pattern and would just like the updates, please email me and I'll get them right out to you free of charge.

OK, that's all for now...over and out.

Tuesday, November 21, 2006

Hi I'm Hannah Stevenson from While They Sleep Designs. I am wife to a great guy named Jeff (the handsome man in the green). And I am "Momma" to three little girls all under the age of two: Twin girls Laurel (green skirt) and Maisy (blue skirt, scowl on face) and our newest little one, Norah Jane (the sweetest cherub of a baby). Life is crazy over at our house as I'm sure most of you can imagine. But there is NEVER a dull moment and that's the way we like it.

I love to sew, crochet, paint, bake.  I look forward to learning to knit someday.  My mom taught me how to sew on her old New Home sewing machine, but I never really had a passion for it until my babies were born.  Now I can say that I am certifiably obsessed.

I love to create..but find it hard to do while my little munchkins are underfoot so I have learned that the three words "fast", "easy" and "affordable" make me and everyone else around here very happy. That's why I created my blog "While They Sleep". It is the place to go for inspiration and projects you can do while your babes are sleeping (or destroying the living room).

I believe that everyone has within them the desire and ability to create.  My goal is to inspire and encourage especially women to do just that!  It is also my goal to help those who are new to sewing say to themselves "I can do this!" and learn a new skill or two along the way.

I also have an Etsy shop where some of my original patterns are sold.  My goal is to produce projects that are beautiful and practical but also all fall under the rules of "Fast, Easy and Affordable".   Things you can actually get done "While They Sleep."

I'm proud to introduce the newest pattern available in my Etsy shop: The Pod Swaddler. You can go to my shop for more details.

I do everything I do from a little corner of the kitchen.  My husband is working full time and going to school at night so I usually get a lot of what I get done while he's away and the girls are asleep.  I look forward to someday having a room just for creating and doing projects with my girls.  I also look forward to doing a lot more with creating patterns.  My dream is to have my own pattern line someday.  But I am happy with the pace of my shop and my blog right now.  It keeps me busy but not too busy to enjoy these precious, fleeting years with my girls.

Here's a sampling of what you can find on the blog:

Thanks so much Sarah and Denise for this opportunity to introduce myself!

It's Almost Ready!

I just got the photos of Norah modeling the Pod Swaddler (that's what I've decided to call it). I'm putting together a little "How-To" sheet today and waiting to hear back from just a few more of the volunteers who are making them. The goal is to have it up in the shop on August 5th! I will be hosting a little giveaway that day to celebrate so stay tuned!

Thanks so much to those that have volunteered to try it out. You have given me great input and helped make some really important changes to the pattern and instructions! Here's some of the photo's for the "How-To"...thanks to Eden Thome's brilliant photography!
