post comp! post camp, and pre elections
in the last week, competition was over on wednesday, and camp was over on saturday. Our term as exco will end soon with the upcoming elections to select for the next exco, and I'm not sure whether I feel nostalgic or not.
Comp was great, both guys and girls team scored team silver, and for girls indiv events, etinne and I tied for indiv silver, and for guys indiv, alden got the indiv silver (: I watched the videos, it definitely wasn't our best routines for etinne and I, we wished we had another chance.. But we shan't complain. All in all I think we fought hard under those circumstances and I couldn't have asked for a better way to end my gym career of 6 years (:
Camp was over friday and saturday, and it was the last thing that our batch is doing before we retire. Although many of our initial plans failed, due to delays and unexpected happenings, but I'm glad that we did achieve our objectives of allowing the juniors to get to know one another better, and I think they had fun, which was the most important. I'm quite thankful that as a batch we are all sensible and cooperative, we all seem to know what to do so there wasn't a time that we were lost. Communication was good amongst all of us, which was good. And even though not all of us are exco members, each and everyone of us is able to handle the situation even when exco isn't there, so I guess this shows that we have all grown as leaders (:
one thing i regret about camp is the ending, where we were quite confused by the teachers because they suddenly spring the news about elections on us, the fact that the results of the new exco has to be out by 27 april. that gives us approximately 2 weeks to carry out speeches, voting, interviews, and 2nd round of voting. Time is really tight on our hands, and next week there is art gym competition and the tramp gym's supposed rest week, so technically there wasn't supposed to be training. But due to the need to get the elections done, we have to ask everyone to come back for the rest of the week.. It's a little unfair, especially rhythmic gym got their week of rest while tramp gym was training for competition. but oh well. This is really the last thing exco gets to do together, I just hope that we all have fun and enjoy each other's company while we can, before we step down.
Its been about 5 years trng with etinne and the juniors, and 1 year plus with my current batch. We've done many things together in this 1 year plus, we started off with mothers day, then j2 farewell, ihc, teachers day performance, bbq, take 5, and we ended with gym camp. Although batch CIP was in our initial plan, but besides that, we seem to have achieved everything we wanted to do.. (: I'm quite happy for that and all the memories and good times, and the bonds we have forged. We started out in our awkward introductory circle talking about names, class, and subject combination, then we got to gym camp where we knew each other better and did retarded things like construct a gym family tree, then we grew together as we took over from the seniors went through all the experiences.. esp competition, the highlight of our year and what we have been trng for all year long, all the stress and emotions, sweat and pain, we all went through it together. Comp is really an emotionally binding experience, and I'm really thankful for the wonderful team we had, all the juniors and batchmates are ppl I really love and care about and would never exchange for anything in the world.
I hope, with the coming elections, we end up with an exco that holds promises and life for gym, and continue to carry on the spirit <3
