Celebrating {LIFE & LOVE} on the Allure of the Seas

Wednesday, October 17, 2018

Robb and I just got back from an amazing 7 night cruise to the Western Caribbean onboard the Allure of the Seas. We had an incredible week. The ship was amazing, the food was spectacular, our ports were beautiful, and the onboard entertainment was unforgettable!

We flew out of Grand Rapids Saturday evening at 5:00.

We made it to Fort Lauderdale around 11:00 and took the hotel shuttle to our hotel in Dania Beach.

Taking a walk while we waited to head to the cruise terminal Sunday morning.

We found this cool outdoor gym area to kill some time!

We took an uber to the terminal and got onboard around 12:00. Of course we headed right to the lunch buffet and then the pool!

The self-serve frozen yogurt stations are near the top of my list of favorite things about cruising ;)

keep these babies coming, babe!

After the muster drill we went to check out our room. We were surprised to see this sweet treat from our travel agent Jamie Weitl-Pineapple Escapes from Fairy Tale Concierge.  It was the perfect little snack to tide us over until dinner, thank you Jamie!

Our favorite time of the day, dinner!

I was so excited for the aqua show! It did not disappoint!
The divers were diving from a 55 feet high platform on a moving ship! Nuts!

Monday morning we woke up in Nassau, Bahamas.

Monday marked 10 years since my kidney transplant.
So thankful for the gift of LIFE! Glory be to God!

We typically stay on the boat in Nassau, but I had read about a nearby beach called Junkanoo Beach, so we decided to check that out. It was within walking distance of the ship and was the perfect way to spend a couple hours that didn't cost a dime!

Back on the boat in the afternoon to check out the views.

And our first of many rounds of min-golf!

The celebrations continued at night with formal night!

That nights entertainment was a How to Train a Dragon ice show, and Mama Mia musical, which were both incredible!

Tuesday was an at sea day, we enjoyed time at the pool and exploring the ginormous ship!

Ready for dinner on night #3.

We went to a comedian show that night, and also caught another showing of the aqua show.

Wednesday we woke up in Cozumel. We had a yummy breakfast onboard in "Central Park" and then ventured of the boat to do some shopping and swimming.

We got back onboard for lunch with a view!

And then we attempted some rock climbing on the 7th deck!
Robb "rocked" at it and made it all the way to the top, and my legs were much too shaky and wobbly to make it very high, but it was a fun experience and we're glad we did it!

Ready for another amazing meal

That night we saw an impressionist/comedian/singer.

Thursday we had an excursion planned in Roatan, Honduras.
We took a short boat ride to a nearby private island were we enjoyed some beach time, an amazing pool, and lunch.

some of you long time readers may remember Mindy and I named by kidney "Paco" so I had to snap a picture next to this animal cage!

Night #5

We saw another ice skating show that night.

Friday morning we were up bright and early (in vacation terms) for an excursion booked in Costa Maya.

We went to Lost Mayan Kingdom for some zip-lining, relaxing in the lazy river and a trip to a nearby beach.

Zip-lining was so fun! What a thrill!
If you're headed to Costa Maya anytime, we HIGHLY recommend this place!

Night #6 was another formal night! AKA Lobster night!

my handsome man!

That night we saw an aerial/acrobat musical show, it was amazing! We also watch to a "Miss Congeniality" game show and Royal Caribbean's infamous "Quest" game show.

Saturday morning was our last day onboard.
We had breakfast in the Solarium.
This was my typical plateful. I already miss those flower waffles and the fresh fruit!

Soaking up some sun on the top deck.

Our final dinner at the American Icon Grill.

Our waiter Raj had figured out our tastes and would guess what desserts we'd order! He was right on! Impressive!

That night we saw two more comedy shows.

Sunday was our 13th wedding anniversary! We had breakfast, debarked, took an Uber to the airport and we were on our way home at 1:00.

We landed in GR with the sweetest homecoming from the kiddos! They had a great week too, but we missed them tons!

We are so grateful for the opportunity to get away on this trip, just the two of us to celebrate my health and our anniversary. We feel so restored and rejuvenated. It's so important to us to make time to be together and invest in our marriage, but it's a privilege we don't take lightly.
A HUGE thanks to our parents, and the many other helping hands who took great care of the kids while we were gone!
