"The mouth of love!" Maddie's own words

The other night I started panicking that Colin will be baptized at the end of the summer, just 4 months away, and I feel like I've slacked in the preparation department! So, I told Jared we should try and read the Book of Mormon with him before he got baptized. We've read through all the scripture readers with our kids numerous times, but this time I really wanted to read the actual Book of Mormon, tough scripture language and all. We've been doing it, slowly, it takes us about 15-20 minutes to get through 5 verses. We stop and talk about each one to make sure the kids are understanding.

So the other night we're reading in 1st Nephi, and Lehi is naming the river and the valley after his sons. We read 1 Nephi 2:8 "he called the name of the river, Laman, and it emptied into the Red Sea; and the valley was in the borders near the mouth thereof." I turn to Maddie and ask her (to see if she's paying attention) What did they name the river? And she responds with enthusiasm, "The mouth of love!"

After a lot of laughter, and tears (Maddie was very embarassed), we finished our reading and went to bed. At least we're trying, right?

Who does Kate look like?

I was looking through some old pictures of Colin and Maddie when they were two, trying to figure out who Kate looks like. She's definately similar to both of them, but has her own little look. She's got the typical hairdo (constantly in her face, but I don't think that's genetic, they just both have the same lazy mom!). Looking through the pictures brings back so many memories. It's a good thing I took the pictures, because I've been terrible at keeping a journal.
