Calling all shoe Mongers!

You know who you are.

So I am having a shoe party. LUVable shoes. On Wednsday, September 3, 2008 between the hours of 7-9 p.m. If you did not receive an invitation it is because you are not within walking distance of my house. I am sorry I did not want to find addresses and mail-out those suckers.(I am a tad-bit lazy) Plus I ran out. What evs.

Anyhoo. I want you to come. But only if you want to. Please come.
No pressure. I mean, I need you to be there. Do you even like me?
Check_______Yes or
_______NO or
_______Kinda

I promise I will make it worth your while. Not like that, you perv.
So if you checked yes and want to come and don't know how to get to my house email me @
tmarnaes@yahoo.com and I will give you some sweet directions.
If you checked kinda, still email me and tell me what I can do to make it a yes.
If you checked no....well who would do that? Only someone really mean and confused. So email me and I will set you straight.

P.S. I initially had written "Calling all Shoe Whores!" but my sweet Dave found it offensive so I changed it just for him. Man, I am a good wife!

Summer lovin'- Maple Canyon

So this picture of Max refuses to do what I say(kind of like the real boy) so it is going to have to just hang out on the top.
We went camping to this fantastic place called Maple Canyon. It is supposedly a rock climbing mecca. We got to hang out with a bunch of great folks. Henry learned to rock climb
I got some super-de-duper one-on-one time with Kimby, whom I love. Here she is holding Cannon(one of the cutest, calmest babies on the planet earth)
Also got some serious campfire time with this lil' rascal. Nope that is not a recruiter for the Taliban. It is Matt of Mathias photography my very own little brother. Whom I also love. Plus he brought along Jordan and Paxton(friends) and the good times couldn't have gotten any better.
Then there is this gal, Mesa. Seriously this girl is one in a million. The boys love her and have such a great time hanging out with her.
Then there is this little dude. Just about as fun as they come. Unless he is hungry or has to wait for his dad to get to the camp. He also mastered the whole rock climbing thing.
Henry, becoming one with the rock. He was kickin' that rocks bum.
Here is the party people, the rock masters, the Kevin and Emily Bake family. Parents to Cannon and Mesa. Brother to David. Heroes to Marnae. They are cool cats.
Here is me and the gal watching all the fun wondering why I didn't get a chance, but being too big of a chicken to ask. I swear, I wanted to be 7 for about an hour so I could feel comfortable asking to rockclimb.
And now to the sad part of our story. So while all of the rest of us were having the time of our lives(all except our camp neighbors who were appalled that we had the nerve to have a camp fire, huh, weirdos) little Millie Mae was whiney and wanted to be held. She was only quasi-happy in the baby back-pack. There were several times we almost just took her home. Then she would be okay and so we would get lulled into a false sense of calm. Then after a beautiful powwow around the campfire I fell asleep to the sounds of babbling brooks and little boy snores. At about 3ish Millie started whimpering and then full-fledged crying, on and off, for the rest of the evening(or early morning) so I snuggled and sang and prayed(those tents don't keep any noise out) to no avail. She was burning up and pissed. We barely made it through the night alive.( I am suprised the anti-campfire neighbors didn't shoot us). So we had breakfast, cleaned up and headed out. A few days later girl gets rash all over her body. Burning fever+rash= Roseola. When I read about it in the Mayo clinic book it said that it includes severe body aches and fever, in short, misery. Man, I felt like a crap mom.
Then I remembered this.......................
Poor, tortured baby.
Aside from the child abuse, it was one fantastic trip. Thanks to all involved!

Father's day..cough...yep....Father's day

Remember how a long time ago there was this day when children all over the land got together to revel in the joy and goodness that is their fathers and husbands? Remember how people wrote poems, made videos, created posts of gratitude and delight? Remember? I know it was so long ago but for the sake of putting it out there(finally) Dad and Dave you are swell. Not just in the regular swell-type way, either. No, swell as in the out-of-this-world variety and I love you both. So without further ado...........

Father's Day!
It was your standard Father's day affair. Dinner at my mom's house, the boys trying to use a magnifying glass to burn bugs(luckily they are both inept at the bug torture) Milly eating her weight in watermelon(those were some fun diapers for a day or two), Me only getting one picture of my dad that is basically his bum and bald head(both very impressive), my sweet husband doing all the father duties to the best of his ability, and of course what is father's day without Matt trying to fashion a zip line for the boys in the backyard. And yes that is Matt. I know, I know, Taliban member and Cat Stevens, look-alike. Love those fathers in my life, for reals.

On a side note, today was the first day of school for the boys. Max is in first and Henry is in third. I was so ready for them to be back in school, or so I thought. I took them to school and Henry informed me he did not need or want me to walk him to his class. So as I was pulling the dagger from my heart Max told me he wanted me to walk him to his class. I held his hand as we talked about him eating lunch at school(seriously the thing his most excited about) and we walked to his class. With a quick hug and "bye, mom" he was off to his desk. As I peaked in to make sure he found his place, there was my little man sitting all straight and tall(just like a first grader) and I got all teary. I miss them when they are at school. They can drive me batty when they are home but school is long. I worry about them and all the outside influences. They are growing up and there is nothing I can do to stop it. boo hoo.
But, I do get to spend all day with this little firecracker!

We are back together

Turns out that my blog and I broke up for the summer. It went down something like this.....

Blog: Yo, Marnae, seems like you don't have time for me anymore, dog.
Me: Quit trippin' why you alls, like, up in my bizness?
Blog: I axsing you is this for real or are you, like, hangin' with some other thang?
Me: Ok, so me and summer we are, like, real tight, yo, and I think you are, like, suffocating me and stuff. So, like, step off.
Blog: Fo reals?
Marnae: Yup, adios sucka! Peace!

It is true, summer and I really were tight. We were just really connecting on a very deep level. Things were dreamy. Downright romantic. Then something strange happened. Summer started acting all distant. Quit returning my texts. It has been very rough. I am not sure what I did. Then out of the blue....

Blog: Hi there you.
Me: Blog, wow! Long time no see. How have you been?
Blog: Ok, I guess. You look really good. Nice tan. Did you get a hair cut? How's summer?
Me: Thanks! Um, summer and I don't really talk all that much anymore.
Blog: Hmm. Maybe we should hang out sometime. I mean, uh, only if you want to.
Me: That actually sounds nice. I will call you.
Blog: Do. Yeah, you do that.

So we are kind of back together we have decided that we are going to take things real slow. We have a lot of catching up to do.
