Soothing the savage teether

Well teething has reared its ugly head and we do not love it in any way, shape or from. Remember how I told you that Millie is a mommy's girl? Well since the dreaded teething has started it has only gotten worse. And seeing that Tylenol and baby meds are under the radar and that numbing stuff is lame. Everyday is a constant struggle to take the gal's mind off the pain. Really she just has one more reason to be held all day. Well thanks to my brother Mike we may have found a solution until it gets too cold or until those teeth are done killing my baby. The Wagon!!! Ah how I love the wagon! Stick Mills and the bumbo in the wagon and hit the road and she completely forgets all of her cares. She can be in the middle of a full-blown melt down and the magic of the wagon stops it dead in its tracks. The minute it starts rolling she is in a trance like state. The great outdoors and a wagon are her oxycontin, prozac, marijuana baby tylenol and valium all rolled into a nice little cocktail. She likes riding solo or with her peeps either way she is totally content. The only problem is she could ride in it all day and there comes a point when all of us are sick of pulling the wagon. Then she is our little pathetic gal once more.

P.S. If there is anyone that reads this blog and you know of a way to soothe a teething baby(something that doesn't require me to exercise) please pass the good news along. Millie and I will thank you.
P.S.S. Millie now has sign language for breastfeeding. It is hilarious she gets her little bottom lip tucked in and makes a smacking sound. I will trying to get a photo. Funny!!

Sad but true

Well Millie is six months old today. I don't know if I have said it before but the girl loves me. I am her number one favorite person. I know that Dave and my parents would say that it is all because of the boobs, but I like to think it is more than that. Today though it hit me that she is half way to being one year old. Sitting up, walking, talking are all in the near future. But also in that future is kindergarten and middle school. Her first time riding a bike. Her first little pals. Maybe ballet or gymnastics or soccer. High school. College. Marriage. And I got kind of teary thinking that I won't be her number one favorite person forever. She will have friends, siblings, grandparents, boyfriends(ouch) her daddy who will all get her attention. So I think I will hold her a little longer and kiss her a few extra times and talk about all of my dreams for her and tell her just how grateful I am that she is mine and even though I may not always be her number one favorite person I will always be her number one fan.

Another revolutionary is lost in a foreign country...

Sad but true all of the revolutionaries are moving on to greener pastures. So last Friday we had a lunch to tell Emily good-bye. I think I am almost gonna bloody lose it. She is moving to London. For those of you who don't know Emily, I am soo sorry that you don't. She is truly one of the greatest. She is so kind( think of how she treated Dr. Schiffman). She is a crazy good little athlete who runs and swims and bikes and waterskis and surfs and snowboards and hikes with the best of them. She is a world traveler and spent a summer of fun making all of us who know her jealous. The first time I met her I hoped she would be my friend and I am so proud to say I consider her one of my favorites. There is no one like Emily. I hope Millie is just like her. I know her and Tyler will be the greatest thing to hit London since Posh and Becks. But I will miss them and hope they both know how much I love and appreciate them .
On a side note....a few weeks ago Dave and I had some revolutionaries over and got to discussing English Law. I was certain that barristers and judges in England have to wear those crazy wigs . Dave was sure I was wrong and sent me this great picture to mock me. Guess what? I was right. At trial, judges wear the wigs and some barristers do. To bad Tyler isn't a trial lawyer he would look sweet!! I guess we are all just lucky he will at least have a mullet:) I really will miss them but come next October I hope I will be in London hanging with them. Saying such phrases as "freshen your drink gov'na?" and "I am so bloody glad I don't smoke fags" .

Yes, the answer is yes(to me at least)

The question was recently asked ," Is Millie really a cute baby, I can't tell in the pictures?" I am here to set the record straight..... I think so. Granted, it is the rare occasion when the girl will actually smile in a picture like this one here. In fact a lot of the pictures portray her as a bottom lip sucking kind of person who is mostly just trying to figure out why some people have hair and others don't.
She has a tendency to be a little serious looking but I chalk it up to just trying to understand this whole big world. She is a true-life mama's girl but every once in a while decides to share the love and is prone to those gigantic open mouth kisses. Slobbery but oh so sweet.
Mellow is the word used most often. On more than one occasion I have been told " Your baby has such a mild temperment"
I think she has beautiful eyes.

Here's a story...of a crazy lady....

I have figured out a few things about myself and my children lately. First the boys will stop at nothing to get a laugh out of Millie. Observe....... do you see the way they are holding up their body weight with their heads? Now I am no Orthopedic surgeon but it doesn't seem like the smartest thing.
Second it just became clear the other day that I am the quintessential Mormon mom. The simple formula is a mini-van(aka Mormon bomber) and the whole back seat all the way full. Now you can't see it in the picture but in the very back of that mini-van is a box full of the craft I did at our last enrichment night....I am trying to channel Marjorie Hinckley.

Third, my children have absolutely won the lottery having David Bake for their dad. He is a riot! He has moved his way to the top of my list of most favorite person ever invented. He is now 35 as of Sept. 17 and just keeps getting better. Love him, like him, adore him, respect him, need him, enjoy him, worship him, trust him, can't seem to get enough of him.Fourth,I really do spend a large portion of my day in this chair feeding my gal. She still refuses to take a bottle. And believe me I have tried!!!

And last but not least...we truly are a mostly happy bunch and I can't say I would rather be doing anything else besides living my life with these peeps.
