Rollin' with my homies

So Millie finally decided that her body is hers to control and so she has been attempting to roll over to her tummy. We are not sure why she was itchin' to do it because tummy time for her has always been more like torture time. But we believe in letting our children do as they please. So here is the whole beautiful process.

"Wow, mom do you ever vacuum?"

"Maybe if I pull this arm over I can make it"

"I am over but now what doI do about these pesky arms?"

Mission accomplished!!

She finally got her arm out only to immediately put that delicious hand back in her mouth.

Smartest baby in the world!!!

Millie is 4 months old!!!!

Well my gal is really 4 months old. She weighs a whopping 13 lbs which is in the 40% for her age. She is 25.5 in. which is the 75% for age. Tall and skinny just like her mother wishes she could be. She has learned to laugh like a true American, loud and with reckless abandon. She loves her brothers, can hold toys, and tried(very successfully I assure you) cereal for the first time. She is a true mama's girl and refuses to take a bottle. She is a great sleeper and greets me every mornig with a squeal of delight. She has also taken to giving those amazing open mouth smooches that I adore. She is yummy and I love, love, love her with all my heart.
She got her first baby doll thanks to grandma and like everything else she has to taste it.
She sucks her thumb, or her fingers, or her whole fist. She just can't keep those hands out of her mouth.

She realized that her feet are absolutely delicious
She moved to her own bedroom and her big-girl crib and don't think for one second that I didn't bawl my head off that first night.
Still my very favoriter baby girl in all of the world.

Swimming lessons

The guys had swimming lessons this year again. I swear this stuff pays off. 2 years ago Henry was terrified of the water and now he is an absolute baracuda in the water(baracuda was the coolest fish name I could think of)
See!

And Max, well he just loved every dang second he was in the water.

The people at the party say HEY HEY

Here are all of the party people.

My life long dream of being a back-up singer for a rock band will come true(I'll ground him if he doesn't let me) Maybe he will be the next Sam Beam or maybe Bob Dylan and lets not forget his mother's close affiliation with JD( that's John Denver to all of you out there who don't look like his twin)I would sound awesome at Annie's song....ahhh dreams do come true. But enough about me here is the boy."I love being 5, oh yes I do!"

I especially love the hot skivvies look-hey it worked for the Red Hot Chili Peppers

We are family

Here it is people. .. Proof that having a baby sister is pretty dang OK. I just love watching my boys with my gal. I am so glad that they all have each other to grow up with. These are the people that will be their friends through their whole lives. They will complain about their inadequate parents together, live in so many of each others memories, support and push each other, protect and fight with each other , and hopefully one day love these peoples children like they love their own. These peeps are the miracle of my life and I hope one day I am worthy of them. This is defiinately one of the ups of this rollercoaster ride we call motherhood.

Confession-I always knew I belonged here

You Belong in London

A little old fashioned, and a little modern.

A little traditional, and a little bit punk rock.

A unique soul like you needs a city that offers everything.

No wonder you and London will get along so well.

What City Do You Belong In?

Emily and Tyler, I will be there as soon as I can.

Nico Flava

So this is a shout out to one of the most delightful people on the planet earth. Tomorrow she is moving with her little Spenny to NYC to live the crazy good life. On Friday we had a farewell lunch with the remaining Revolutionaries. (All the rest are either traveling or have moved on to greener pastures.) I think I have said it before but, it bears repeating... The UVSC dental hygiene class of 2007 has got to be the coolest group of gals ever!!!!
This blog though is really dedicated to Nico so I will get on with it. Let's just start by saying she is beautiful and that she is one of the classiest women I have met. The girl always looks like a million bucks. She is also amazingly compassionate and kind. Very easy to spill your guts to because you know she can be trusted and that she will not judge you. She is the type of person that will make a difference in this world, in fact she already has in my life just by being my friend. Nico thanks for your great example and for all the great memories. Thanks for hating Dental Hygiene with the same passion I do, thanks for always going red in the face, thanks for being able to be our spokesperson and saying things in a way I couldn't, thanks for crying in class when you talked about your BYU class stuff, thanks for never backing down with Kfed, thanks for being so flippin' awesome. Good luck in New York. May the force be with you. Keep in touch and know that I love your guts. (P.S. I love Spenny's too) In case you didn't know Nico is the second from the right
Dang aren't these people flippin' awesome.

My brother, the oldest one

Ok, So I have this older brother who used to live in San Diego, CA and now lives in Park City,UT his name is Michael David Selman. We in the family call him Mike. I decided that the peeps and I need to go visit said brother because he is fixing up a cabin and so he lives all alone in the woods. Now the logistics of moving all the peeps and all of their gear and making sure the boys won't be hungry, bored, thirsty, whiney, or fighty plus time it perfectly so that I feed Millie right before the start of the trip, she sleeps during the drive and we end up somewhere breastfeeding friendly by her next feeding is, shall we say, challenging. Well we tried it and found ourselves in the car and on our way up Provo Canyon. Now I forgot to remember that Provo Canyon is under construction and there are delays....long delays. But I had snacks and water and art kits, Mills was sleeping and I felt rather confident. Did I mention the delays were long? Turns out that I didn't bring enough snacks and the animals started getting restless. By the time we got close to Park City they were in full-fledged starvation mode. Never fear I am a super-mom, so I called Mike, Michael if you are in a serious relationship with him, and had him meet us for lunch rather than us driving the extra twenty minutes to get to his canyon abode. We met at Loco Lizard. Well the problem is I am on Weight Watchers and I was starving and my brother feels the need to order appetizers and I will just say I did not hold up well under the pressure. At least we were fed, I guess. Well lunch got wrapped up and Mike assured us( after paying for the bill-bless his heart) that the cabin would only be about 15-20 mins away. Millie was getting close to feeding time( wow that makes one of us sound like an animal) We hurried off to find the cabin. First though we had to stop at Mike's bosses house and switch vehicles. No prob as long as we make it quick. Well did I mention that Mike has no children and of course has never breastfed and so his idea of quick and my idea are a tad different. After about 20 minutes and some photo ops we were on the way to the cabin. Did I mention that Millie was starting to get restless.

Well Mike's burb(that is short for suburban) was jam-packed with stuff and could only hold one little boy and one dog. Sadly I have two little boys. So after a serious paper/rock/scissors in which Henry assured Max that rocks rip paper Henry was neatly seatbelted in the burb and Max was in the van. Now Max is no dumby and made sure for the next twenty minutes I got an earful about how unfair life is. (Sad but true my boy, maybe it is good that your 5 year old brain knows this.) Well, we start following Mike and we are driving up a beautiful canyon. Max is still lamenting the loss of the ride with Mike and Millie is whimpering but I know we don't have too far to go. So I am driving , following, going up hill, starting to realize car is gutless, Mike is a little far ahead, van now in 1st gear going about 5 mph, Mike...Mike??? where are you? and we were lost in the mountains on some crappy dirt road my baby is screaming at this point and Max is now certain that we are going to die and life is BEYOND not fair. Did I mention that Mike has no reception in the mountains and so I 'm texting things like"we are lost" "where are you" " do you know arapaho" and he is texting things like"where are you foo?'" "you are a total dork neck" and other such things that aren't very helpful. Finally (30 mins of driving on dirt roads with two crying children) I find a gravel hill text Mike that I am not going another inch and feed the starving baby. I roll down the windows and turn off the car and to my horror here comes Kujo ( ok it was just a really barky yellow lab) trying to get into the van. So I roll up the windows, calm Max down and resume breastfeeding. About 15 minutes later Mike shows up only to make fun of us for getting lost.(tell me people who was the leader in this little charade?) So we follow Mike the rest of the way to the cabin( did I mention I can drive and breastfeed-don't judge, it was a dirt road, there were no people and we went really slow) At last we are at the cabin which is really just a construction zone but there was a great deck and I got to hear all of Mike's funny run-ins with people. Oh and I got some great pics. Even though my brother sucks as leader he is pretty dang cool. He is probably the best cook I know, he is free as a bird, he is very handy and builds beautiful things, he would give you the shirt off his back, he has a wacko sense of humor, the oddest things happen to him, and he has given me the word DORKNECK. Man I love that guy.
SO here are the pics sorry there are so dang many words to read. I got a tad bit carried away.

Happy B-day Maur!!!

Another of my favorite cuzzins is celebrating a birthday. This time it is Ms. Maurianna. Looks like she made it to 23 lookin' as fab as you can get. Mauri like her sis Koley is one heck of a dresser/make-up puter oner/glamor girl. She makes me jealous with her mad skills. She is also truly second only to Mary Poppins when it comes to watchin' after the wee ones. She is such a truly good person to the core. But my fave thing about this girl is she can dance like the devil in the pale moonlight. The girl has moves. She is a riot to be with and I feel so lucky that I can say that I am part of her fam. LOVE you Maur, you are the best. Happy 23rd birthday I hope this is your best year ever!!! P.S. Mauri is the hot blondie the other hot mama is none-other than my favorite sister Megan.

Max is 5!!!!!!

I can't believe it is true. Seems like only yesterday this guy came into my life. Everyone needs a Max in their life. He is so funny and full of personality it is almost crazy. He has taught me the importance of long smoosh- mouth kisses, how important drama and energy are to a life, and how to charm the pants off people. He loves to swim, Panda bears, making people laugh, his grandparents, his sister, Henry, his parents, music, and just loves life. He tries so hard to be good. He has given us such phrases as " we're not coming mere!" ," you are doing me crazy", and " you need to be kidding me". One day he wants to be in a band and I can't wait to see him on stage because right now the world is his stage and he is the star. Luck does not describe how I feel being his mom and getting to see those big brown eyes everyday. He challenges me to be better and to always find a reason to tell someone you love them. Happy Birthday Muggs, you are definately my favorite 5 year old.

Primary Pioneers

The Mt. View 9th ward had a pioneer primary party. Of course we had to borrow some pioneer duds from grandma.

They got to pull a wagon, go to pioneer school, play pioneer games and make homemade ice cream. I was in charge of the school part. I really love our ward and now that I am no longer preggers and anti-social I am starting to feel like I belong.

Pals

I just love the fact that Max and Henry have so many great little pals. Here are two of our faves Ethan and Aidan( also brothers). Henry and Ethan were in the same kindergarten class and became best friends. It is fun to watch them together. They have decided they are going to both be Paleontologists and work at the same place and live by each other so that their kids can be friends too. AHHH sweet. Another shot of the cheesy little monsters. (don't worry the toy room is always this messy)

Here's to friends and childhood. Does it get any better than this?

Rip-roarin' rodeo

Ok peeps I know that my blog is like feast or famine but we have this camera that is pretty crazy and so you have to fill up a disc before you can put it on the computer so forgive me that things come out so much later than when they actually happened. Well thanks to my awesome husband Dave's job at the Herald we got some free tix to the Spanish Fork Fiesta Days Rodeo. We had two extra tickets so we made Matt and Amber come so that they could watch Millie. Actually I am kidding. She was such a good girl through the whole thing. She slept through most of it.

Of course we were all so very excited to go(especially Henry, he can barely hold back the thrill in his little boy heart.) I tell you folks there is something great about the rodeo. I know that I am one of those people who loves a crowd. A mass of people enjoying some form of entertainment. But rodeos are special. A bunch of down-home red blooded Americans whoopin' and hollerin' and just havin' a good ol' time. I actually get a little choked up thinking about it.I think Matt and Amber had a great time and even got into the spirit of the occasion with some swell cowboy hats. Bless their little redneck hearts.

Dave's boss Craig may have felt different. I bet his California bum is thinking" **** hicks, what in the **** am I doing here ." I may be wrong, this may be his 'having the time of my life in this podunk town' face.

Here is a shot (one of the only ones I took of the actual rodeo that you can tell that it is an actual rodeo)

That's all my friends! Enjoy!
