Sept/Oct Update

The end of September we blessed Hadley. Pauline(Weston's Mom) once again did a gorgeous job on the dress. I decided to go with a long dress this time and I was very happy with the results. Weston did a wonderful job with her blessing, I only wish that I could remember more of it. My sister usually gets most of it written down, but this time she wasn't able to.
Our sacrament meeting starts at 9:00 and so to have a lunch after that was a little early. We thought about doing just a brunch with muffins, bagels and cream cheese, etc. but in the end we decided to do a full breakfast. We had homemade waffles, biscuits and gravy (thanks Pauline), eggs, sausage, OJ, milk, basically the works. Although it all tasted really good, I wouldn't recommend it or do it again. It was a lot of work. It was a very special day and I would like to thank everyone who helped. Especially my Mom and Dad who helped prepare and cook so many of the delicious things that we ate
.

October started out slow enough, with Sydney starting her first day of Pre-school. As you can see from the smile on her face, she was super excited. Actually, I think that it was just because she got a brand new backpack that is bigger than she is. :)

We attempted Witchapalooza(?) at Gardener Village with Trenda and her kids, but after just a couple of photo ops we decided to head to a nearby park instead.
Our next adventure was Trick-or-Treating at our local grocery store. I hadn't planned on letting the girls dress up, but I knew that if I didn't and we got to the store and there were other little kids dressed up I would never hear the end of it. They had a great time and got some really good treats. Macey's mouth was so full she couldn't smile. We probably wouldn't have wanted her to anyway.

We celebrated Weston's 31st birthday by taking the girls Trick-or-Treating at the zoo. It wasn't the funniest Birthday that he has ever had, but the girls enjoyed themselves.

Sydney's costume went through several phases. She started out wanting to be Tinkerbell. One weekend we were in Richfield and G.Barney had some old dance leotards from one of the girls. Sydney found one that she really liked and was able to bring it home. Anyone who knows anything about Tinkerbell knows that she wears Green, well this leotard was purple. So, Sydney was now going to be just a fairy. I was able to find her a cute pair of wings that matched quite well and I made her a tutu to go along with it. With the wings came a set of antennae that she insisted on wearing and her costume was now a butterfly. Here is the final result.

Macey's costume also has a story. From the beginning she wanted to be Cinderella. Somewhere along the way she decided that she was going to be a "Mean Witch". I honestly don't know where it came from, but I can handle a witch. After her costume was all done and pieced together, she saw Sydney's tutu and decided that she was going to be a princess again. Only, she wanted to be a "Mean Princess Witch" hence, the purple tutu for her as well.

For actual Halloween night, Weston was hunting with his dad so my little brother came up from Snow College to go Tick-or-Treating with us. Thank You Uncle Matt!!

If you didn't get to bored with my ramblings, it is midnight, check back in a couple of days and I will update you on our Nov./Dec. months. Until then, sleep tight. I know I will. :)

Poop Power

This afternoon my little sister Becky was here playing super powers with the girls. Sydney had Lava power, Macey had fire power and Becky had ice power. It was quite entertaining. After she left, I was in the back room feeding the baby and Weston was out changing Macey's poopy diaper. This is the conversation that I overheard:
M: I have super powers dad.
W: What are your powers?
M: I have poop powers! (Very Enthusiastically)
W: Poop powers huh? How do those work?
M: I can stink the bad guys out.
W: So instead of super girl should we call you poop girl?
M: Yeah, I'm poop girl.
So, there you have it folks my two year old has super powers. And boy she isn't kidding about stinking out the bad guys. She has been on an antibiotic and her stench is unbelievable.

I have not only been a blog posting slacker, but I have been very bad at keeping up with everyone. I was trying to catch up the other day and noticed on every one's blog that I haven't posted since the beginning of October. We have had so much going on! I do plan on posting a catch up blog, so check back in a couple of days. That is, if you haven't already given up hope. :)

It's Official...

Our little Hadley is a chunk!! I took her to her 2 mth check up last Thursday and she now weighs in at a whopping 12 lbs 3 oz. That is a weight gain of 5 lbs since our little ball of chubs was born. Her height hasn't quite caught up with the weight, but she has grown 2 1/4 in.

She is so much fun right now. She is starting to smile and make all kinds of baby noises. She definitely likes her older sisters and lets them know it with the many smiles that she is constantly giving them.

Macey really wanted the baby to play dress-ups with her. This is what you get when you have three girls. Hadley wasn't to thrilled with her sisters chosen accessory.

I tried to keep this as G rated as possible, but you just don't get the full effect of our little chub-a-lub. She does love bath time, especially having her hair scrubbed. Sydney and Macey just love to help me bath her.

Funny Girls!

Here are just a couple of funny things from the girls.
The girls (all of them) have been sick the last couple of weeks. The other night we just needed to get out of the house. So, we took a short drive and ended up at Krispy Kreme for some donuts. For whatever reason, the baby was not thrilled to be in her car seat. She was screaming so bad that while we were in the drive-thru I took her out of her seat. This is our conversation when we got done and I was putting Hadley back in her seat.
Sydney: We have to put her back so the cops don't stop us and put you in jail huh mom. (This is what I have always told her when we have problems getting her in her seat.)
Me: I don't think that we will go to jail, but we will get in trouble.
Weston: Maybe they won't take us to jail if you give them a donut.
Me: Sydney, will you give the police your donut so that we don't go to jail?
Sydney: No, I want my donut!
Me: So you want mommy and daddy to go to jail?
Sydney:No, but I want my donut!!
Macey: (crying) I don't want to give the police my donut!!
We listened to this all the way home. Apparently having Weston and I around is not worth the cost of one chocolate covered donut with sprinkles.

Macey has been extremely attached to her Binky's since we have moved around so much. With Hadley's arrival, I decided to let her keep her Binky's around for a bit longer, but she can only have them at nap time and bedtime. The other day, Weston got her up and made her put her binky back in her bed. When she came out of her bedroom her jammies had been unzipped a ways. He didn't think anything of it and they went upstairs for breakfast. When they got there, she started to take her jammies off. Weston checked on her and it turns out that she had smuggled her Binky's upstairs in her jammies. She had two of them with her and they were down by her feet so she had to take her jammies completely off to get them. Where there's a will there's a way!!

Macey gets quit protective of our little Hadley at times. The other morning my mom was holding Hadley and Macey came storming up the stairs yelling "Hey, don't touch us new baby!!"

This one happened soon after Hadley and I came home from the hospital. I was nursing her and Macey came in. She climbed up on the bed with me and said "Hey, the new baby is eating your belly button!"

I had another one about Sydney but I just can't remember it right now. Kids say some of the funniest things. There just never seems to be a dull moment at our house. I am sure that many of you that have children feel the same way. :)

Free Bag

The Planet Handbag( http://www.handbagplanet.com/contest2.php) is giving away a free bag for their grand opening. Everyone check it out. I am just curious as to which one everyone likes. If you get a chance, leave me a message and let me know. I personally like whatever one is hour 6. I think.

"It's raining, it's pouring..."

Over Labor Day weekend, Weston and I drove down to Richfield and dropped the older girls off for a short visit. While we were there, we got a nice little thunder storm. Sydney had such a blast dancing and singing in the rain. I wish that we had our video camera with us. She was singing "It's raining it's pouring..." You would have thought that the girl had never seen rain before. Macey on the other hand would run inside and into someones lap as soon as the thunder started. She never left the porch.

This was the end result of her performance in the rain.

I LOVE summer storms!!

It's hard to believe

That Hadley is already 4 wks old. It is amazing how fast the time goes. Not only that, but how quickly these little ones find a place in your home. To us, it feels like she has always been with us.

Hadley is absolutely adored by both of her sisters. Sydney was so upset when we first found out that it was going to be a girl, but now she tells me all the time how much better baby sisters are than baby brothers. Macey loves to hold the baby. Well, she actually starts out holding the baby and then she wants to lie down with the baby and that tends to be the way that she finishes out her time with her. It is actually quite cute.

You know you are a mom of a newborn when...

1. Your laundry not only doubles, but seems to triple.

2.In the delirium of sleep deprivation you go through every one of your kids names when you are really meaning your sister. AND

3. Instead of picking your favorite perfume to wear, you now smell like infant pee, poop or spit up. Our little Hadley seems to have taken pooping to a whole new level. We now get projectile pooping. I have to let her sit for a few minutes after eating every time. This time, I thought that I had given her enough time but I was wrong. As soon as I moved the diaper she tooted and shot a long stream of poop at me. Weston and Sydney got quite a kick out of this.

4. I am sure that there are many more things that I could list here, but at the moment my brain is not thinking.

She Has Arrived!!

Hadley Quinn Barney

8-22-08 10:07 am

7 lbs 3 oz

20 in

Daddy with his girls.

Sydney has been the best big sister. She has been so excited to have her sister come home and will sit there for long periods of time just holding her.

This picture was taken the day after we brought her home. She has been a great baby so far. She doesn't really cry, she kind of squeals. She will be really quiet and then let out this squeal and then silence again. Let's hope that it lasts. For the most part we are doing well, we have had a bit of a problem with jaundice and so we have to take her back every 48 hrs to retest, but nothing else. She sleeps great, eats great and poops great. Everything your new born should do right?!?

She has the darkest hair out of my girls, but she also has the least amount.

As for the labor, there really isn't much to tell, I went in Friday morning at 5:30 am, they started me on the pitocin at 6:30 and said that I was to a 3. The doctor came in and broke my water at 8:00 and said that I was at a 3. At this point I was really regretting having them start me a week early. I thought that I was going to be there all day. Anyway, he broke my water and I got my epidural soon after that. It of course only worked on one side (typical for me). As soon as the anesthesiologist came back to fix it, and gave me an extra dose, the nurse checked me and I was complete and ready to push. Was the epidural worth it? Ask the left side and I am sure you will get a resounding "YES" ask the right and you will get something more like "what epidural?". At least it was quick. In the end I was glad that we had done it that day. Weston didn't have to work and I think that if I had gone into labor on my own and it happened to be a day that he worked(he commutes about 1 hr 15 min), he wouldn't have made it in time. We are glad that she is here and healthy(for the most part). It has been really nice living with my mom and she has been a great help to me especially with having to go back to the hospital every other day. Thanks mom!

Electronic Woes

Every so often we seem to have a few problems all at once. Well, a couple of weeks ago, we hit a rough spot with our electronic devices. Our camera kind of just stopped working, our portable DVD player (= lifesavers in the car) quit reading any disc not just the burned ones, and our cell phone will no longer hold a charge longer than a day. I hate it when things like this happen. Fortunately for us, Weston's brother Jeremy worked for Best Buy and was able to get us a great deal on a new camera. Good thing with this baby coming. The other things will be replaced, it is just a matter of time.

Before the camera completely stopped working, I was able to get just a couple of pictures of Macey's first camping/fishing trip. Over the 24th of July Weston's family always goes camping to Ferron Reservoir. We were
lucky and were able to go this year (even being 8mths preg). The girls had a blast but especially Macey. The only problem, in true Macey fashion within a couple of hours of getting there she had scratched her nose on a tree, smashed and cut her finger in the window of the truck and had fallen face first off of the bench in the trailer receiving a nasty goose bump on her cute little forehead. Not to mention the countless times that she landed face first in the dirt. She still wants to go back and asks me daily "when we go fishing again with Keegan?"

On the prego front, for those of you who have patiently been waiting for some kind of a photo posted of me and my big belly, here is the one and only photo that has been taken during this pregnancy. I have not felt well and have felt much, much larger with this one and so have avoided cameras whenever
possible. The other night (almost midnight) Weston called my name a when I turned around he had the camera ready (the old one, trying to figure out what was wrong with it) and low and behold, it worked. Not the best picture, but with only 2 1/2 weeks to go, I don't know if there is such a thing. We still don't have a name picked out for this little one, so any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!!!

A New Face and a New Post!!

Sorry it's so long!
I have been putting this off for way to long and have received many (some nice some not so nice) inquires as to when I am going to post again. :) First off, let me just explain one thing. This pregnancy has zapped every ounce of my patience especially when it comes to things of a technical nature. I have had a hard time, obviously, getting myself to sit down and spend the time that it takes to post a blog on my parents computer (they don't have dial-up but they may as well have for how slow it is) and we just barely got the Internet working on our own computer again.
Let's see, how do I catch you up on the past 3 mths (has it really been that long?)of our lives. We have been extremely busy as many of you are during the summer.
Starting in May we have:
  • Celebrated several birthdays (family and friends),
  • Visited California for Weston's graduation,
  • Kept the roadways in Utah hot looking for a good job,
  • Been to several doctor's appt. for me and the girls,
  • Attended a couple of funerals,
  • A couple of baby and bridal showers
  • A couple of Family reunions. No camera=no pics.
  • A couple of holidays. Can you believe it, I forgot the camera for the Fourth of July!!! :(
  • Various get-togethers with friends(old and new) and family
I am sure that somewhere in this list I have forgotten something, but at the moment my brain is drawing a blank. Sorry that there are so many pictures, but what else would you expect from my 3 mth hiatus?!?

Sydney's and Macey's Birthdays.

While in California we visited Disneyland. We met up with the Palmer's and my little brother Matt came with us(he is still single if any of you have single siblings). We had a really good time except that it rained the whole day. The girls didn't seem to mind, they enjoyed their cotton candy as we waited out the worst of it.

Well, if finally came GRADUATION!! Congratulations babe!!

We met up with our friends (from school) the Palmer's in Cedar City, UT on one of our various trips. The kids had a blast at the park and then finished the visit with lunch. It was great to see them. Sydney still asks me when we are going to see Blake and Brooklyn again.

My friend Trenda and I have been fortunate enough to be able to get together a couple of times each month this summer. This is the only picture that I could find from all of our outings. I guess I had need to be better about bringing my camera. Most of the time I am lucky to make it out the door with both girls. I just blame it on the pregnancy.:)

We have found some great new friends (The Nielson's) and have enjoyed spending time with them and getting to know them better. They have two boys, Drew and Clark, that are about the same ages as my girls. They actually play pretty well together for the most part.

The following are just some various pictures from throughout the summer.
