Muny trip

I've actually been fortunate to go to the Muny twice this summer, but for some reason have no pictures from the second time with good friends.  They may be thankful that I wasn't the paparazzi that night :)

These pictures are from the Aladdin production.
Leslie and I took some of our boys and they loved it!
It was really good - the genie was hilarious - it kept the boys' attention.
So fun to spend the evening with them.

time at grandma and grandpa's

Grandma and Grandpa like to have each of the boys over to their house for a few days on their own each summer.
This was Elliott's turn.

Picking blackberries with Eli.

Feeding cheese to Taco.
I think that was her favorite snack.
She used to sit on the front piece of the lawn mower waiting for the driver to feed her cheese.
This is the last picture we have of Taco.
She passed away just a few days after Elliott was there.
We miss you, Taco!

Hanging out on the patio.

Holding his newest cousin, Gideon.

Thanks for the fun time, Grandma and Grandpa!!

Holiday World

My parents took the boys to Holiday World a few weeks ago.
They had a blast!
Aunt Meemer came too, but not in any of the pictures.  Hmmmmm...

Thanks for taking them Grandpa and Grandma!!

Lantern Festival

The Lantern Festival is going on at the Botanical Gardens right now.
Sometimes we go to special events there and other places and they are kind of disappointing.
Not this one!
It was sooooooo impressive!!
Very well done.
Highly recommend going if you're around here.
I think it goes until late August.

Only appropriate that Ethan was born in the year of the monkey.
He used to climb EVERYTHING when he was a toddler.

Homeward Bound

It was an uneventful trip home.
Here are just a few images that we thought were interesting.

Leaving Colorado

After a storm (very very windy storm) in western Kansas.

I know someone knows what type of cows these are, but we kept seeing them in Kansas,
and I really think they look like Oreos.  Right?

Had I been by myself, I would have detoured and found a better shot of this.
I love how the old church is in the foreground of the field of modern windmills.
And actually just to the right of this, a bit in front of the church, was an old windmill.
I missed that shot, but thought that would have been such a cool image.

Pike's Peak

We were fortunate that Pike's Peak and some other attractions opened back up while we were still in CO, so we headed there on our way home.

A little warning about the weather at the top.
Appropriately placed in the middle of all the sweatshirts.

Meeting another train on the way up.
If I remember right this was called Windy Point.
It was named well.

Ummm......I don't know.

Our mode of transportation.
Actually the only way to get to the top during this time.
The highway was closed to traffic due to the wildfires.

At the top!

Enjoying our "world famous" donuts at the top!

Awesome views.
This was a time capsule that had been established not too long ago.
I love that idea.
A friend said she thought she was going to do one for her daughter, and I'm thinking that's a great project.

Ethan got a pocket knife at the gift shop at the summit, so we were checking it out on the ride back down.

Some of the scenery on the way down.

So pretty up there.
You can see smoke from the wildfires here.
We went down into Old Colorado City after Pike's Peak, and as we were down there we started smelling smoke from the fires.  The wind must have shifted.  This was really the only time we saw anything to do with the wildfires.  They seem so small in this picture, yet they caused so much devastation - so heartbreaking.
