4th of July Adventure trip

When Brent discovered he had to work in Salt Lake on July 5th we decided to go up north early and make a holiday out of it. We usually visit his family when we go up north since my family comes down here often so it was fun just to spend time with my sisters up north this time. We discovered so many cool places and we just didn't have time to do all we wanted....I guess we'll have to do this again.
Anyway, we left Saturday morning and drove as far as Payson. We stopped and had a picnic by the temple. When Sarah and Rebekah made it down to meet us we hiked the grotto trail to a water fall. It was so much fun. The hike wasn't hard and all the kids happily made it. The water was sooo cold but Brent told our kids he would pay them $5 to get under the waterfall. They all did it...more than once...It was a blast. We then drove up to my sisters and stayed the night.
The next day we kept it simple with a little church action and a lot of hang out action. We were going to go to a boardwalk/park area but we discovered our car was dead...bummer. Early the next morning Brent got up and worked on it and was able to get it started. But  he couldn't get one part he needed so we could drive far out of civilization on certain adventures we were thinking of.
Instead we decided to go to a Fort/lake park and canoe. When we got there we were greeted by a lot of men in tights....Renaissance style. So plan c was the train museum/car/guns museum. It was pretty awesome. The kids could climb on train cars and play on railway equipment. The cars didn't hold their attention for as long as it did the dad's but they did treat us to our own personal gun show (bicep style). After the museum we ate a picnic lunch at a park and visited Roy city pool. It had some pretty awesome water slides. It is really fun to go places like this now that the kids are a little older. I don't worry so much and they are more independent.
On the 4th of July we had our awesome traditional scavenger hunt breakfast. We then walked out to the parade to watch cousin Rachel in the marching muskrat band. It was awesome. We then walked to the park and got in some great face painting. We hurried home because it felt pretty hot and busted over to meet up with my other sister/family at despicable me 3. The kids loved it. We stopped for treats on the way home. When home the kids dug into water balloons and the sisters spent an hour at TiaPan Trading browsing....We had BBQ dinner and Josh is an awesome griller and watched/did fireworks that night. I love small town 4th of July's. It was epic.
Wednesday while Brent worked we went to a water park called Cherry Hill. They had a not so lazy lazy river that had big drops, waterfalls, and pretty fast moving water. There were also awesome dragon water slides (Creed's favorite). There other part of the park had a maze (of course I was the last one out only after the kids came back to show me the way) and a cool climbing wall.We spent the whole day there and had a chick-fil-a picnic on the way home. It was such a good time. Thursday we headed home to catch up on real life but this quick trip was definitely one for the memory banks! I am so thankful that my kids have cousins that they love so much and love to hang out with. We are lucky!

The kids also watched a lot of Flash and Supergirl...
