Jack O'Lanterns

And no wounds deeper than 1/2"

This is the first year that all of our kids (minus Thomas) carved his or her own. Mary learned a neat trick using a canning sealer to scrape the guts out (ingenious) and for the first time in at least 8 years I didn't do the cyclops pumpkin.

Pomegranate

When I lived in Caruaru Brazil, we had a Pomegranate tree in our backyard. One of the many wonderful things about Brazil is the multiple growing seasons throughout the year. It seemed like any time you wanted a pomegranate, there were more than enough to go around.

So when Mary and I saw a pomegranate in the grocery store with a handy little guide on how to get them open, I thought it would be neat to get one.

Steven read the instructions to get it open

Anna and Becca did the opening

Pretty fancy inside

Look at all those seeds

We were split down the middle on who liked it and didn't (mostly along generational lines), but it only cost $1.50 for a great activity that kept us all occupied while mom finished up dinner after church.

Paul's Patch Pumpkin Pick

Today we made our annual pilgrimage to Paul's Patch Produce in Perry planning on picking some pumpkins. Paul's Patch is perfect for getting pictures of the little ones, and they set up hay bales in a pyramid and a sort of makeshift maze.

Mary mused that it might be fun to practice putting on our Halloween costumes. So off we went with two little lions, a beautiful ballerina, a harbinger of death, and Steven.

We were a little nervous that Death herself was going to take Thomas . . .

. . . but it was only Anna.

Virtual Choir - YouTube

So apparently this guy videos himself conducting and then people send in videos of themselves singing their parts. What I imagine is several hundred hours of video editing and sound mixing later and voilà - virtual choir!

Balconies are neat

There is this great series of balconies on the west side of the capitol. They wrap around the Governor's working office, past the reception area, past a conference room, and end at the Lieutenant Governor's office. If you can get the key from Susan, it's a pretty neat place to take some pictures.

What I do When Anna is at School - by William Thomas

Every day Anna abandons me while she goes to school forcing me to find ways to busy myself.

Thursday I took mom shopping.

I hate to get excited about produce, but it really looked pretty good.

Meat and Poultry? I'll take both.

We tested out the pillows

This one was kind of scratchy

Then I tried on a halloween costume. I don't know if this one releases my inner child.

I'm pretty sure I can stay awake for a quick car ride home

Maybe not

I then took mom out to lunch

It's nice to color while waiting for your meal

How bout some chips?

Love the decor

Enchiladas are nice

Then I picked some grapes . . .

. . .and took them home to juice.

Then a short nap while watching cartoons

Then I sit at the front door and wait for Anna to get home

and wait

play a little Rome Total War

and wait - There she is!

I can't believe you were gone all day Anna - I had nothing to do Sad Black Smiley
