Princess Anna - Animal Handler

I don't know if you know this, but Anna is quite adept at handling animals.

She once subdued a tiger

She stuck her head in a lion's mouth

She captured a giant caterpillar

She even saved Rebecca from a crocodile

That Anna is pretty impressive

A Day at the Capitol

Just before school started Mary brought the kids to the Capitol Building to visit me at work. The kids have visited me at work before, but usually the attention span doesn't last as long as it does in the new building.

They were greeted by the lions

Saw the replica of the liberty bell

Imitated the statues

Posed for some pictures

Spit off the balcony . . . they didn't really spit

Saw the U.S.S. Utah Exhibit

Visited the Senate and House Chambers

and saw the little Wyverns guarding the Capitol

All in all a pretty fun day

My boys

I've posted these on the Dixon blog, but I think they're so adorable -- I just had to post them here too.

Tommy adores Steven and waits at the window for him after school. He is overcome with joy when Steven appears around the corner -- who could ask for a better 'welcome home' than a two-year-old jumping up and down yelling your name?

Tommy also likes to see Steven dressed in his football garb. When he sees football on TV he yells Steven's name. At Steven's games Tommy thinks all the boys wearing purple are Steven. So funny.

Notice the fistful of hair.

Labor Day Weekend

Mary and I aren't much for spontaneity. Last minute plans usually make us a little queasy. When David called and asked if we wanted to spend a night at Willard Bay Campground, the proximity shot most of the emotional barriers.

So off we went to the mosquito breeding capital of the county to make sure those poor little pests had enough food for the winter. I'd saved up extra blood just to make sure they'd have enough.

Here's the thing about camping with David: he plans everything and does all the work. He did the shopping - he set up camp - he brought mosquito foggers - he even brought a portable shelter. Is it any wonder that by the next morning the guy was exhausted.

(Thanks Dave)

Breakfast was:
Cereal

Bananas

Cocoa

and cookies. Wait - who gave them cookies?

I can't smile until I've had a cup of joe

That's closer

Then after a short drive in the pick up truck,

we played on the beach.
