Ice Fishing Jan'12

We went ice fishing last month and I wanted to post some cute pics from the day. We left on a Saturday after Cooper's Jr. Jazz game and headed south. We got to the lake and fished the last couple hours before dark. It was a little cold and windy. Thank heaven for our friend Alan who brought his ginormous ice tent.  After dark we headed into a little town to get some dinner and spend the night.  My kids love to stay in a hotel.  They think it's the coolest thing ever.  I love to share their excitement.  And the best part, they had a pool!  We even warmed up some in the hot tub.

We got up the next day and headed back to the lake.  We caught a good number of perch and trout.  We also took the stuff so we could cook the fish right on the ice.  They were so tasty!

This trip was a little extra special for Jayson and I because the kids really showed an interest in fishing.  They each caught fish all on their own.  By all on their own I mean they let the line down, reeled it up just a bit, sat patiently jigging every so often and setting the hook!  Then they reeled those puppies in all by their little selves.  They were both so proud.  And so were we!

Here are a few more fun pics from the day.....

Boo-Ya!

It isn't very often that I get to gloat but today, I'm gunna!!  Oh yeah, that's right.......WE WON!!
Team Whittle takes the first chunk of change in the Weight Loss Challenge!  It was hard work, I'm not gonna lie. But we did it!  The hubs and I worked hard, cheered each other on and had our ups and downs (Christmas was killer)  But all our hard work paid off in the end!!  Now I'm off to dream about what to purchase with my winnings!!!

I am really missing good food......

I am trying to win a -let's be less chubby- challenge that I have going with my Dad and some of my siblings.  I gotta tell ya this week has been really hard.  The pic above is of some really yummy olive cheese bread (recipe from the Pioneer Woman).  It is so good, so cheesy, so salty from the olives.  Perfect treat!!  I am sure missing things that are so good for my taste buds but not so good for me.

Feel free to drool with me.................

It's a New Year!!

January 9th already!!  It's a new year.  I am determined to make this one better than the last.  Not that last year was so bad but this coming one will be better!  I have been thinking a lot about "New Year's Resolutions".  I kept thinking back to a post my cousin put on his blog around this time last year.  I couldn't remember exactly what he had said but it kept haunting me.  So I had to go back and read.  (Thanks for really making me think Spencer) Against what he said I have kinda made a list.  But this list for me is more about who I am as a wife, a mother and a person.  About where I came from, where I am going, and the children I am raising.  I also made it a little light hearted and put some of my favorite things in doodles around the edges.  Can't be all serious and looming all the time.

I have also decided to be a little cheesy this year and have a "theme" for my family.  I haven't decided all the "rules" to go with my new tradition...it's a work in progress.  But during Christmas I was thinking about all the "stuff" that everyone was rushing to buy.  I love gift-giving (and getting) don't get me wrong.  But (whoa big secret) I don't have a ton of money rolling around at my house. And it got me to thinking that really, it doesn't matter.  We don't take our things with us when we go so no big deal.  But we do have memories.  Memories build a foundation, they tell a story, they are a part of who you are, they bring us closer together, and on and on.  So for me and my family, this year it will be all about memories.  2011 is the year to make memories!!

So here's to a New Year!!  You will be a good one!!

(remember - if you see that jerk with my money tree let me know and I'll be right there)
(and wow I use a lot of ! and " and (  ) but don't come at me okay!)

Day 19 Nicknames you have and why?

I don't really have any nicknames.  My mom used to call me Amos.  Sometimes Amos Magamus. And it stuck for a little while in middle school, maybe into my sophomore year of high school,  but didn't really carry on long after that.

And because I'm missing really good food, here is a pic of grilled pizza margherita I enjoyed this summer.  Ah good times!

Day 18 - Plans/dreams/goals you have.......

I plan on living a full and happy life with my husband and children.

I dream of the day when I can go to the grocery store and not be depressed about prices.  I also dream of coming home and walking into a pantry to put it all away.

And I don't have goals....I don't set myself up for disappointment like that.  Wait!!  I do have a goal....to win our family weight loss challenge.  Watch out fam!  I'm coming for your money!!
