Thank goodness for little boys...

GOTTA LOVE LITTLE BOYS
Two young boys walked into a pharmacy one day, picked out a box of tampons and proceeded to the checkout counter. The man at the counter asked the older boy, "Son, how old are you?""Eight," the boy replied. The man continued, "Do you know what these are used for?"The boy replied, "Not exactly, but they aren't for me. They're for him. He's my brother. He's four. We saw on TV that if you use these, you would be able to swim and ride a bike. Right now, he can't do either one."

New PB for Jes!

Jes set a new Personal Best at the St. George Marathon over the weekend in slushy shoes, freezing rain, and shivering cold 3:36. Way to go Jesse!!! I'll have to post one of the pictures they took along the course since my hands were full of kids and I couldn't get to my camera in time.
Right before the race the porta jons were full and he had to head out into the wild life to use the bathroom, it was dark and he walked into an old barb wire fence--ouch! It gashed his legs, I think that would have been enough for me to quit.
I really wanted to see Les Miserables at Tuacahn so Jes watched the kids Thursday night so I could go. It was so moving, the show was incredible I didn't want it to end!
We had a great time in St. George, we always love visiting there.
Thanks Jessica & Paul & Kathy for coming with us. We also had fun visiting with you Gina, Eric, & Sam!

What's it all about

No spot for it? Put it here . . .

Been on the counter too long, still no spot for it? Shove it in here. . .

How many people live here?. . .

Today I'm moping around a bit, I haven't had cold in years and I feel aweful. I'm trying to be super sanitary so I don't get little Jade sick, I think the boys have had it already. It didn't affect them much, but for some reason it's really hit me hard (lack of sleep). So I've decided to blog my woes away.

Several years ago I worked for a great friend and mentor. I was his assistant manager and it was my absolute favorite position I ever held at the credit union. The manager I worked for had surrounded himself with great people and the atmosphere was so positive, which was exactly what I needed in my life at that time.

As employees we were evaluated quarterly on performance and values and then given a bonus based on that rating. I was thrilled with a raving review, however, I was bothered by one area. I was given a "good" or "average" rating in the area of organization. What?! I considered myself the organizing queen--this was my specialty. I had revamped training manuals, organized all of the desks, I had spreadsheets for everything, each day was perfectly planned (lunches, meetings, closings, etc). I had done so much and yet he considered me medeocre?

After stewing about this for a few days I sat down with him and asked him why. Why didn't he give me a better rating in this area that was so important to me? I remembered his reply today as I stared at pieces of my now nonorganized life. He agreed with me, he said your organization skills are great but what really makes you great is how you work with people. He said people and relationships are what really matter. Huh, I had to chew on that for little while, but then I began to see a bigger picture.
I've recently started reading "The Mommy Manual". . . . okay, so I read 3 pages last night, I know it is going to be great though. The end of the preface said "being a mommy and helping your children realize their potential is the best way for you to realize your own". Now as I look back on my managers advice, it is these little ones I've been entrusted with that matter.

Someday my cupboards will be perfectly organized, maybe even labeled. Someday my shoe basket will only hold a few pairs of shoes (maybe we'll just get rid of that thing all together). Someday my kids will be all grown up and not need me nearly as much as they need me today. But today I'm going to smile at Jade, laugh with my boys, hold Jesse's hand, and enjoy the wonderful ride I've chosen. . .a little icecream couldn't hurt either :)

My book recommendation of the week:

My icecream recommendation of the week:

2.5 grams of fat & only 100 calories & the best dang icecream I've ever tasted

A new season

Cool weather, fall in the air, & costumes of course!!!

Our prima ballerina, I just can't get enough of this tutu!

You may have seen Aniken Skywalker and a Power Ranger running around the neighborhood, they are getting geared up for halloween too!

My personal preparation for halloween has been eating candy by the bags.
This one has been my favorite so far--
candy corn white chocolate kisses, better than the real thing, indulge your tastebuds!

Lake Powell 2008

I remember sunbathing on the front of the boat, relaxing, and meditating to the sound of . . . nothing. Now we get to experience Lake Powell as a parent and have caught a glimpse of what our parents have done for the last 20 years in we could have fun and memorable time.
It was an instense vacation this year with 8 little ones under 6 years old (2-2 month infants). We enjoyed the beautiful scenery, watching the kids have fun, and the time we spent with family was priceless. Life seems so fast paced lately, it was nice to slow down and focus on each other.

We camped in Crystal Canyon, which was gorgeous. At night we played rock band projected onto the cliffs and the stars were breathtaking. The little boys spent many hours on adventures and caught more fish than I wanted to see. I actually got nibbled on this year, which toally freaked me out. Dad had to fix the toilet and Ross dry heaved more than once trying to assist him. Josh & Korbyn giggled endlessly one evening and the food was absolutely amazing.

Thank you gma loni & poppy for a great trip, our boys have not stopped talking about it!

A surprising visit. . .

Jade just had her two month appointment and to the doctor's surprise, she has been growing at an incredible rate. She has advanced from the 25th to the 75th percentile and is now even saying words such as "whoooooo" & "ooooohhh".

We have decided to re-name her "Leilanikathy", please don't try to shorten it--I love her too much! Her sweeping golden locks and piercing blue eyes can only be explained if I reveal Jesse's secret, but if I do I might jeopordize life as you know it. I'll let you come to your own conclusion, however, I'm sure you've noticed the speed he travels at by foot. His rock hard physique and breathtaking features are also of no coincidence. . .

Yes, you have guessed it, she is half human and half angel. And everyone she meets is entranced by her sweetness. Her special powers are bringing peace & love into the lives of her family and those who surround her. She radiates when she smiles and burping & gas passing have never been so cute. With her increased growth she is sleeping peacefully at night, I on the other hand am lost in eternity at night with my Jesse (asleep of course!)

This posting is dedicated to all of you Twighlighters,
And a special happy birthday to my Edward, the love of my life...
He is breathtakingly handsome isn't he?
Unfortunatley he does age, Happy 35th Jes!

Treasured moments

Today Jake started school. The kindergarten kids were adorable! They were thrilled to ride the bus and even more excited to leave their parents behind. Jake made my day when he ran back out to give me a hug and tell me he loved me. Oh, the wonder of boys! They can be so thoughtful and sweet when they want to be.

Way to go Jake on your fist big day!

Where did it go...

Summer 2008
A perfect summer day is when the sun is shining, the breeze is blowing, the birds are singing, and the lawn mower is broken. ~James Dent

Summer came and went and although we spent most of it
waiting around for our little Jade we did have some great fun together.
Swimming, Camping, and BBQ's at Gma Loni's & Poppy's

Boating, playing on the beach, & exploring nature at Gma Kathy's & Gpa Paul's

More fun at home and around. . .

Josh, the bigger little brother

Josh is our superhero and here's why:

He makes us giggle & smile,

He puts up with constant harrasment from his big brother.

This would be right before his brother leveled him. . .

And this would be after he gave his cake to his brother because it was all gone and Jake really, really wanted more.

This little boy loves unconditionally and instantly forgives others. He is a great example to each member of his family and we love him!

A few quotes from Josh:

Jake was asking me who made the robots on Star Wars and Josh turned and said "Heavenly Father made them silly."

Josh was so excited this morning, he wanted me to come quick "Jade gave me a smile mom", like it was a gift.

Josh is my laundry boy and I asked him today how he learned to fold laundry so well, his response was "my heart taught me mom, so I could help you".

Out with the girls...

I drive a mini van, I have 3 kids, and I listen to Christian rock (because I'm too lazy to change the CD in my car)--but when I get together with my girl friends from high school I feel like I'm 16 again, even though I'm almost twice that (Wow! that was harsh). It's even crazier that Dawn almost has a 16 year old!

Last night Christi showed off her amazing culinary skills and hosted a get together. It was conveniently planned on one of Lara's visit's to Utah, we would hate for her to send out another nasty e-mail, I'm not sure which body part she would choose to display next. We followed dinner up with ice cream at a creamery and visited until they pried the chairs out from underneath us.

My life has been blessed with great friends over the years from my childhood to now and I am grateful for each one of you!

Little Miss Sunshine

So I've heard little girls are all about drama and attitude,
but I'm just not seeing it. . .
except for these two pictures.

The first is her "are you serious?!" pose,
and I believe she's telling me to "talk to the hand" in the next one.

She communicates very well for being so little,
I learned not to interupt meal time to take pictures--
she just looked so stinkin' cute I couldn't help myself :)
