Trick or Treat!

Happy Halloween! Costumes for this evening: Sports theme!! Cade and Jake are basketball players, Luke a football player, Hallie's a BYU cheerleader, Cassidy the mascot and I'm the referee- I thought that was very fitting! :) There was a super fun haunted house around the corner from us. Not only did they put it on for free to everybody, but they had cotton candy, popcorn and halloween candy for every child that came. It was so neat with painted sets and everything. The kids ran their hearts out evening and came home with a ziplock gallon sized bag of candy each. Hallie was a champ and didn't make one peep until we rolled up the driveway.

finger foods and sippy cups

This baby girl is growing up so fast!! Today I caught her doing the "steam roll" across the dining room floor. Here we go- childproofing! I love this stage where they are finally able to feed themselves a little and drink from a sippy. So nice!

jake's look

Since Jake is insistent on dressing himself these days, this is what we come up with a lot of the time. Pants on backwards, shoes on the wrong feet, sometimes 2 different pair. He's got personality, you've gotta give 'em that!! :)

a little bit interesting, and a little bit gross

So after all the sports and trunk or treat, Warren and I headed out with Cade on a date to discuss "the birds and the bees." I can't believe he's already old enough to be needing this discussion. He is growing up so fast! Our tradition is to take them out to a special dinner and have the chat. He's a little younger than Cass was, but kids are already talking, so we needed to clear some things up. At the end of our chat, while we were waiting for our table at the Olive Garden, Cade says, "That's a little bit interesting, and a little bit gross." I think that about sums it up. :)

pumpkin carving

Warren and I each carved 2  pumpkins. Can you tell who did which?

Costume Line Up #2- the Trunk or Treat

The boys found some other jedi and storm troopers to duel with from 2 cars over.  So fun!

After the soccer and football games, we headed over to the Trunk or Treat at our church. This time Cade and Luke kept the star trooper look, but Jake switched over to be Anakin Skywalker, Cassidy a witch and Hallie a lion.

Soccer Stars

Luke is so serious about soccer. I love it! We love watching him play. He lives for it. I don't know what he's going to do with himself in a couple weeks when the season ends. He looks forward to every game and practice. So fun!

Football Playoffs

Saturday was Cade's last football game of the season. Sadly he didn't make it to the Superbowl. But we had a great season, and had really fabulous coaches who put in a TON of hours and lots of patience and energy.

Party Party Party

Jake and Hallie had their Music Monkey friends over for a Halloween party, then later that afternoon Cass had her cooking party, then that night Cade and Luke got to go to a Halloween Party at a gymnastics place. We are party animals and we're just getting started!

Friday's Costumes:
Cass= Cat, Cade & Luke= Storm/Clone troopers, Jake= Spider, Hallie= Skeleton

Skeleton Baby

home halloween fun

The big kids were jealous of all the fun games we played at Music Monkeys, so here they are playing Pin the Wart on the Witch. Cade is cheating as you can see. :)

Music Monkey's Halloween Party

Jake is loving this group! He asked every day last week when we were going to have music class again! I'm so glad he's enjoying it so much.

TX Stampede

Jake Hallie and I joined some friends at the Texas Stampeded Parade this week. We were just a few feet away from a huge herd of Long Horn cattle- nothing separating us! It was a little terrifying, but amazing! Those things are enormous! Jake had a fun time looking at the horses and cows. He got this funny hat. I wish I would have had my camera!

Cooking Class

Cassidy's friends have had a book club going since the beginning of summer. The group leader was too busy to host this month, so we decided to have the girls over for a cooking class instead. We made pizza bites, salad and a s'mores dessert! YUMM!

New job!!

Warren starts a new job on Halloween with TSC Global. We are feeling so blessed to have found employment in just a few short months!

Busy day

On top of the 5 hours we spent painting today, we also had 2 soccer games and a football game. We were exhausted when we got home! Luckily, we had some cheap entertainment provided by an annonymous drop of halloween treats on our doorstep. So nice!! Silly string was the novelty of the evening. :)

World Wide Day of Service

Today we participated in the "World Wide Day of Service" for our church, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Many other areas did their day previous to now, but our area was waiting for the Texas heat to move out, so we were a little bit later. Some of the projects from our specific unit were rebuilding fences, cleaning up behind a church not of our faith, cleaning up a ravine, and several others. Our project was painting some rooms of a home of a family with 7 children who are moving in a few weeks. I was really happy to do this project because it was some neighbors of ours we know and LOVE! It was fun to be able to help them out. I was really glad we had people come over to help us get the job done faster. For more information about the day of service world wide, click here.

so worth it

Although we spent as much of our time traveling as we spent visiting, it was absolutely worth it! What a fabulous 2 days. Thanks Warren, Melissa and Toni for helping out with the boys so I could go. Next time we need the male part of our family to accompany us. It wasn't the same without them!
