Teen spending money is expected to increase to $91.1 billion in 2011

The market for products purchased by US teens, which includes upwards of 25.6-million teens, is expected to grow slightly over the next five years, increasing from $189.7 billion in 2006 to $208.7 billion in 2011, despite an estimated 3% decline in the 12 to 17-year-old population in that same period, according to The Teens Market in the US, a new report from market research publisher Packaged Facts.  Teen spending money, which is a conglomeration of money from jobs, allowances, cash gifts and "as needed" money from Mom and Dad, is expected to increase by about +3.5% annually, boosting the collective teen income by +14.4% from $79.7 billion in 2006 to $91.1 billion in 2011.  At the same time families are expected to increase the amount of money spent on teens by +7% to $117.6 billion in 2011.

Rockstar Games' Violent "Manhunt 2" Title Banned in the U.K.

Rockstar Games' Violent "Manhunt 2" Title Banned in the U.K.

London - Game publisher Take-Two Interactive's upcoming "Manhunt 2," developed by its Rockstar Games studio, has been banned from sale in the U.K. by the British Board of Film Classification, GamesIndustry.biz reported.

"Manhunt 2 is distinguishable from recent high-end video games by its unremitting bleakness and callousness of tone in an overall game context which constantly encourages visceral killing with exceptionally little alleviation or distancing," said BBFC director David Cooke.

"There is sustained and cumulative casual sadism in the way in which these killings are committed, and encouraged, in the game."

The last title to be banned by the BBFC was 1997's "Carmageddon."

"Manhunt 2" is slated for release next month in the U.S. for PlayStation 2 and Nintendo Wii.
