The tale of puke and poop, by Vivian Stansberry

It's official, we can't go to restaurants anymore with Vivian. The last two days we have tried to eat out and it has ended in disaster. I'll start at the beginning...we got two gift cards to Charlestons for Christmas. We were so excited because it is one of our favorite places to eat. I shot a wedding on Saturday and we decided that when I got home we would use our gift cards. I was very tired, hungry and cranky after a long day on my feet and very little food so Charlestons sounded great. Everyone was fine until a couple of minutes after our spinach and artichoke dip arrived. Viv started throwing up, and by throwing up I mean projectile vomiting right into my hands! It was going eveywhere and it wouldn't stop! Of course the restaurant was completely busy so it was soooo embarassing, and Vivian was totally humiliated. We were able to salvage the shirt she was wearing but eveything else had to go into a plastic baggie. The waiter was very nice and cleaned up the puke off of the floor and everything. Needless to say, it kind of ruined the experience.

Next, today after church I was starving! Vivian had acted like a complete maniac all during church, which is her new routine. I was so glad to sit down and put her in a high chair and be able to relax and eat. Boy, was I wrong! This little angel pictured above did the grossest thing that I've ever seen or smelled. We had just gotten our meals, (Mexican food by the way) and I smelled Vivian. Matt and I did the "not it" thing for a while and I decided to lift up her dress in the back and check down her diaper to see what the situation was. Well, when I lifted up her dress I could see the poop was already in a pool in the high chair, up her dress, up her back and going down her legs in her tights. We sat stunned for a second and then leaped into action! I've never seen such teamwork! There was of course NO CHANGING TABLE in the bathroom. Side note: I think that there should be a law where every restaurant has to have a changing table in both men and women's restooms. Anyway, I ended up taking her dress off of her and holding her up by her arms so that Matt could get the tights. The smell was something I've never experienced before. I immediately started gagging and almost broke my no puking streak again! Anyway, I held up naked Vivian while Matt cleaned her off with about 250 napkins and wipes. He even said that a big chunk of poop fell out of her diaper and onto the floor. That must have been when I was gagging and looking at the ceiling. She ended up with a diaper and her church coat on with no shoes or socks. We had to ask the waiters for bags for the diapers and napkins and poop and another bag for her clothes. We got our check, to go boxes and were out of there! So, that was our weekend. How was yours?

Expecting Days...Again!

That's right folks, Vivian is going to be a big sister! I found out the day before her birthday and we announced it to our family at her birthday party. I made her the Big Sister t-shirt and brought her out into the living room where everyone was. They took a minute to figure it out, but eventually got it! Anyway, we are really excited! I had my first appointment with Dr. Hall yesterday and the baby is measuring about 5 days ahead, the same as Viv did. So with the ultrasound, my due date is July 25th. Anyway, there's the big news!

The gag

Oh boy, tonight was a first. Just for a little background info, I never throw up. I never threw up when I was pregnant with Viv. I probably haven't done it in about 10 years. I hate the whole idea of it and I rarely get the throwing up sensation. Until tonight. Vivian actually had me gagging over the toilet. It all started with a nice bath for Viv. She had already had her hair washed and was all clean and she was playing and splashing when I looked down and the water looked dirty. Upon further inspection I realized that she had pooped in the water! There was poop floating everywhere! I had no idea what to do. I grabbed her out of the water, drained it and then had to pick up all the wet and mushy poop and put it in the toilet. That's when the gagging started and I almost threw up! Almost, I still haven't broke my record. So then I had to clean the bath tub and tile around it, because like I said, she was splashing. After I cleaned the tub I had to re-bathe her and re-wash her hair. What a disaster! Anyway, I of course took pictures of the ordeal. I have circled the poop so that you can see it. I know you're all dying to get a nice close up! I actually think the first one is pretty gross because you can tell the water that is splashing up on the sides of the tub is brown. SICK!
In other news, Viv loves playing in the living room and sitting in her big girl chair that was given to her by Tamika and Isabella. She loves sitting in it!

Steps

So, Viv walked a couple of steps the other day from the couch to the ottoman! It was very exciting, but she hasn't done it since then. She's so close to walking, it's scary! This is another outtake from our Christmas photo shoot, she really hated the hat, so it wasn't easy! We went to see Santa at the mall the other night so I will scan that in pretty soon and post it. She's not smiling, but she's not crying either! I say it was a good trip.

Viv's funny sleep position

The other day I went in to check on Viv during her nap and this is what I saw when I walked in. I figured she was sitting up playing, which she does sometimes, but when I walked over, it was a different story! She was out cold and even snoring! It looked so funny that I had to grab my camera. When I checked her later on she had changed to a regular sleeping position. She's so funny, even in her sleep!

Just Some Pics

This is one of Viv's favorite toys that she got for her birthday, she loves to dance to the music and shake her microphone around.

She also got these pajamas for her birthday!

I'm finally getting around to putting the pics of when Jayna came to visit. Viv absolutely loves Jayna!

The big party!

We had the big party today and I think it went really well! Viv has been feeling bad all week and she got her shots at the doctor yesterday which apparently caused a facial rash on Viv, today of all days! Here's the awesome cake that Katie Rowten made for her, she is super talented! All of the little sheep and farm animals were made of fondant and so cute!

My mom made the chili for everyone, she has the best chili in the world! Viv loved opening and playing with all of her new toys! She has been having so much fun already! Thanks to everyone for the great gifts!

Me and my sister Marcy were wearing almost the exact same thing but only with the colors switched. It wasn't planned, that's just how cool we are.
Viv was excited and scared to see her cake. Everyone sang very softly to her so she wouldn't cry!She immediately dug in but didn't get too messy. She really wanted to share with others, so she kept trying to feed me! I was hungry, so I took her up on her offer! Thanks Viv.
When a piece of cake fell onto her stomach she burst into tears! I guess that was the last straw! We took her to take a bath and finally she went down for a nap. Here's some of the things that she got today. Thanks everyone, she had a great party!

Happy Birthday Viv!

Well today was Viv's first birthday and she didn't feel that great today. That's why she doesn't have her usual smile in the pics. Hopefully she will be all better by the time of her party on Saturday! Here's Josh, Nancy and Viv today at the birthday lunch, they all share the same birthday! They didn't have a small enough sombero so they put some random backwards cap on Viv while they came over and sang Happy Birthday.

This is her the second the song stopped. She was pretty much on the verge of tears anytime she got sung to. I totally understand though because I have shed a tear or two when being sang to. I find it one of the most embarassing things in life.

She was finally happy tonight in class playing with the other birthday girl Jaylen. Well, she doesn't actually look happy here, but she really was! More pics to come on Saturday of the big festivities!
Oh, one last thing. While I was grocery shopping today at Crest, this elderly lade came up to me to look at Viv who was sleeping in her seat in the cart. She made some nice small talk about how precious Viv was and about how you just keep loving them more and more. I told her it was Viv's first birthday and we eventually parted ways. Well I went to the next aisle over and running up behind me was the little old lady! She handed me a $10 bill and told me to put it towards Viv's savings. I told her that I couldn't accept her money and she absolutely refused! I said, "But you don't even know me!" and she said, "I love doing things like this". Wow, what a cool things to do. I just had to tell the story because I couldn't believe a stranger would just come up and do that.

I can't believe it

I can't believe that my baby went from this little butterball... To this grown up looking girl! She's turning one tomorrow and I just can't believe how fast it's gone. It's been the best year of my life! And I know it's been the best year of hers!
When I picked her up today from Sonshine School and got her home she felt really hot. I took her temp and it was over 101 so I called the doctor. They just said to keep fluids going and give her Tylenol. She felt pretty bad all evening. I hope she feels better tomorrow, I don't want her to feel bad on her birthday! At least her party's not until Saturday, I'm sure she'll be better by then.

Finally together!

We finally got all three birthday girls together this morning at church, then we all went to lunch together after. It was a lot of fun, but I have to admit, Vivian is the "handful" of the bunch! She was trying to climb the stairs and take off crawling and when she came back down she kicked Addi in the head, so she started crying. Good little Jaylen was sitting there like a nice girl the whole time! It's not easy to get them all standing and looking at the camera at the same time, but this is close!
This is after Viv accidentally kicked Addi. Viv doesn't look too concered.

Viv's about to take off up the stairs!
All the proud mommies! We made it through the first year!
