Dream Big - ATB Tutorial

Hi my dear Viva Las VegaStamps! Friends.
I am totally a mixed media fan and I always incorporate my mood or something I want to say when I am creating. Dream Big is a mixed media Artist Trading Block (ATB) that should visualize my creative mojo. I am full of ideas (see the big head) and this does not stop! It would be great if the day would have 48hours or if I'd have six arms!
The ATB base is cut with the Silhouette Cameo. Of course you don't need a cutting machine to build a cube. You will find templates online to cut one by hand or you can use a die with your cutting machine.
I used the gorgeous Whimsical Moon Face and Whimsical Beetle Man stamps from Viva Las VegaStamps! as my main images.

Here are the step by step instructions:

1. Prepare your stuff. Cut the blank of the block. Emboss some black cardstock with an embossing folder of your choice. Stamp your main images and the acetate with StazOn Jet Black Ink.

2. Add Turquoise Iridescent Creative Medium with a palette knife and a stencil to the side of the cube that will be the top. You can use any other texture paste. I like the shimmer of the Creative Medium.
Tip: Use some washi tape to mask the border and to adhere the stencil to your working surface.

3. Use the Gold Metallic Creative Medium with a make up sponge and rub it onto your embossed cardstock. You can also use PanPastels metallic colors. Cut out four squares which have the same size as an area of your ATB and adhere them to it's sides.

4. Color your main images. I used my Memento Luxe inks. You can use any other ink. E.g. Distress Inks or watercolor pencils. Add some highlights with the Irresistible Pico Embellishers. I used them for the bugs feet, the white dots in the moon's face and the stars on it's top.

5. Cut the gears from kraft cardstock and give them some gold glamour with the Gold Metallic Creative Medium.

6. Build everything together and add the sentiment. I stamped it with StazOn Jet Black ink and cut it with a banner die. Use a cutter to make two slots to glue in the gears. Adhere the transparency sheet with some Miracle Tape to the back.

A Carnival of Happy

It's Amy here today to share a blast from the past, the HERE stamp.
I had fun getting this funny Mardi Gras gal ready for a carnival atmosphere, on this layered ATC (I'm clearly big on those these days).

I used my gelli plate to make the background, using purple and green paints, and neon pink Hero Arts ink, spreading it with a brayer, over a stencil. I then added some drywall tape, cut down, for texture, and rolled the brayer over the top.

For the ATC card with the Mardi Gras Mask stamp on it, I stamped with IMAGINE Crafts Neon and Memento inks in Pink and Green shades, and colored it in with watercolor pencils. The background is shaded with purple watercolor pencil.

Finally, I added layers of embellishments, including the vintage plastic ballerina. I tried to keep everything light and fun, using some cupcake flags from Ruby Rock-it for little banners.

Thanks for having a look today, and I hope you enjoyed taking a trip back in time, to find a new stamp!
Loves,
Amy

Blast from the past - Hearst Castle

Hi Hermine here. My turn to make something with a Blast from the past stamp. Love structure and architecture and this stamp is absolutely gorgeous.

http://www.vlvstamps.com/index.php/hearst-castle-3-1-4-x-3-1-2.html

This gorgeous stamp is called  Hearst Castle 2347

step 1:  Start this card by stamping Big Ben 19391 with goosebumps
step 2: put some ink direct to the craftsheet, I used Memento yellow, red and pink as close together as possible but don;t overlapp the colours because you will contaminate you ink pads, especially the lighter ones. Then spray some water, dipp you card into the ink on your craftsheet. Let dry and whipe off the excess on the Big Ben.
step 3: Stamp Hearts Castle 2347  and the text Adventure awaits 19009 (but only the word adventure)with Memento Luxe black. Then mask the castle and use masking paper to make a strip so you can stamp partially and turned 90 degrees the Waybill/Invoice background 19416.
step 4: stamp on both sides the color wheel lines 19338 with Delicata Silvery Shimmer (Tsukineko) and Pulse rate 19186 with Delicata Golden Glitz.
step 5: Color with a waterbrush and Memento Luxe (the same colours you used for the background) to colour the castle and the rectangle spaces from the waybill. Add some shadow underneath those lines with Silvery Shimmer and Golden Glitz.
step 6: take your waterbrush and take up some Golden Glitz and splatter. Do the same with Memento Luxe pink.
step 7: take a scrap piece of paper and stamp Butterflies specimen 1 19415 with Memento Luxe Black.
step 8: take a double square card, distress the edges and glue your artwork to the card.

Hope you like my blast from the past.

Warmly Hermine

I love how the Memento Luxe inks give almost the look of watercolor when watered down, but keep their vibrancy and the bit of stamping done on the embroidery hoop and ribbon with the Waybill/Invoice Background add a lovely contrast to all that color. And do you recognize those butterflies?? Yep--I've embossed the Butterfly Specimens stamp onto vellum and daubed a bit of color on the back." More details on her blog.

Hands AJ Page
I love making Gelli Plate prints with acrylic paints and mediums, but had been wanting to create several prints with ink instead. So this was the perfect opportunity.
Using several techniques, I applied Memento Luxe Ink to my Gelli Plate, creating one yummy later after another. Some prints were made by applying the ink directly to the plate(1), randomly creating layers of color, while other prints were made, using stencils for more pattern and design (2).
For my Art Journal page, the background was created using the above method (1). I stamped (with Versafine ink) the edge of my page with 'Whimsical Diver' and 'Color Wheel Lines'. I added a bit of doodling with Memento Markers and it was complete.
For the center of my page, I stamped 'Hand Circus', then doodled again. I finished my page off with my quote. Viola! Easy peasy!

Me, Myself, & I

Using Gelli Print method (2) above, I stamped (with Memento Luxe Ink) a print with 'Zentangle'. I then cut cut randomly size rectangles stitched them to a larger Gelli Print. There is so much depth of color and texture. Just love this!

To bring in the same pattern from the Gelli Print, I also stamped (with Memento Luxe Ink) painted chipboard alphas for a whimsical touch.

For more texture, I covered my white cardstock with Creative Medium through a stencil. It's a subtle look, but adds so much. I hope you enjoyed my projects today! Have a great one!

Wheeling in with Spring Color

wheelie man full card2
Hello stampers! It's Amy here today share a card I've made, with lots of springy bright colors. I'm happy when I see it, and that's a good thing.
wheelie man arrows and cirlce

I started my project by layering on two haphazardly cut squares of pretty patterned paper. I inked the edges of one paper, using walnut ink, and both edges were inked with Archival Ink in coffee. These were adhered with Miracle Tape. I tapped on a little bit of green mist, and then stamped the Arrow 3/4x1 1/2,and Chevrons 1x1 1/2, directly onto the paper, using pink and silver inks. I stamped with green ink and the chevron stamp onto a separate paper, and fussy cut this out, inked the edges, and adhered with miracle tape. The final bit of the layers of stamping was to stamp the color wheel lines stamp in the bottom corner, and the wheel from the Wheeley Monocle Face slightly off the page.

wheelie man, arrows close

I dyed my own seam binding ribbon with the green and brown walnut inks, dried it, and adhered it using miracle tape on the back. To the tied ribbon I added some baker's twine for extra pizzaz.;) I sprayed the Prima flower with mists, adhered, and added the chipboard and metal pieces.
wheelie man, close
Finally,I colored on the wheeley monocle face stamp with a Faber-Castell Big Brush Pen in black, and then swiped on some radiant neon ink in electric pink....to give some va-va-voom to his hat, eyes, and monocle, and stamped that baby onto some heavy cardstock. I fussy cut him out, and popped him onto the paper, using foam dots. And voila! A fun, springy, and special card to pop into the mail for a friend!

Thanks so much for having a look today! I hope you were inspired to start stamping up a storm! :)
<3 Amy
