Design Team Introduction!

Since they'll be posting soon on our blog, I suppose we should be introducing the Design Team who will be taking up residence on our blog the first half of 2015!! A few of our oldies are joining us, a few newbies, too! And... maybe you'll see some familiar faces because a few of our previous DT members have come for another go 'round! Exciting!

In alphabetical order we have :

Hi, my name is Corrie Herriman and I live in Venlo in the Netherlands with my husband David. I have been crafting all my life but only discovered rubber stamps, ink and mixed media a few years ago. I stopped working in 2010 so I have lots of time to spend on my inky hobby. I am stoked to be on this team and hope to inspire you with my, mostly colourful, projects.

Hi, my name is Glenda Tkalac and I live in Saskatchewan, Canada.  I love scrapbooking, making art journal pages, ATC's & canvases. I work full time but wish I could just play in my art room full time! haha  I also love watching movies, playing with paper, scissors, stamps & paints, Pinterest, funky runners, going to concerts, hoodies, Marianas Trench, baubles & purses, the Goo Goo Dolls, unicorns, rainbows, mermaids, a good laugh, Coors Light, my Sony Reader, flannel sheets, my scented wax burner, Sid Dickens memory tiles & I have a new appreciation for red wine.

Hi, my name is Hermine Koster and I am from The Netherlands. I am a rubber stamper for many years now, but I still can't get enough of it.  I love making cards, but also do love Mixed Media, altered things, art journaling, in fact anything you can put a stamp on.

Hi, I'm Karen, Aussie gal, Wife and Mummy and Stamper! I love to create on tags, and am happiest when my fingers are inky!

Hello, my name is Mary and I'm a crafty gal living in sunny AZ with my husband and three kiddos!!   When I'm able to carve out a bit of free time you'll find me in my craftin' corner with the music loud, surrounded by a pile of scraps.  I'm a huge fan of working with different types of media, from paper and clay to fabric and more.  You'll always find a stack of stamps right next to me on my table and most often, I'm covered in glitter.  Yeah, my husband loves that.  What man doesn't enjoy being dubbed 'Mr. Sparkles' at work??!!?

Hello all, Michele here and I am one super super excited crafty girl!  So honored to be a part of this team.  I hail from southeast Michigan where I recently found my way back to live out the latest chapter of my life.  When I am not crafting I am running around with my nieces who keep me on my toes!  I work for a local company and visit Los Angeles regulary, I spent 13 years there (what is that, 2 or 3 chapters?) having a ball.  These next 6 months are going to be a blast!!!

Shanna Shands
Hi everyone I am Shanna and I am so excited to be a part of the VLVS team. I have always been inspired by previous team members creations and I am excited I get to share mine with you. I love all types of crafting and have been crafting for 4 years now. Mixed media is just such an amazing way to get creative because there is no wrong way to do it and you can use it on any project.

During the daylight hours... I am a graphic artist working in the fast-paced printing industry. I spend my days working in a busy print shop doing my computer wizardry producing printed materials and at night... I create with abandon while all the world is asleep. My style is varied and unique – altered and edgy… using materials in new and unexpected ways - especially stamps! Its no secret I'm a VLVS! rubber addict ... I can't have enough. I'm so thrilled to rejoin the fantastic team at VLVS! and share my rubber adventures with all of you.

That's it! Our new team :) Be sure to leave them some love and welcome them to the blog for 2015. We we will be losing a few of our members for various reasons, and we will surely miss them! So before we switch over the DT list on the right side of the blog please take a moment to visit and follow all of our current members. ♥

I love how I as able to fit so many pictures on this page yet it's not too crowded.  Here are the stamps I used for this page

Art journal fun & Viva Las VegaStamps!

It's been a little while since I added to my art journal and I had a picture of the hubs and I the night we went and saw Black Sabbath in concert (awesome!!) so I decided to do a journal page with it using the fabulous Viva Las VegaStamps stamps. When I use a stencil with mists or paints I hate to waste any leftovers so what I usually do is press it onto a blank page in my journal so that I can use it on another page. This is what I started out with
I loved the bright colors! I then added our picture as well as some other embellies
and I stamped the numbers on the bottom and decided that I wanted to color them in with a fuschia color to make them pop more!  Here is the finished journal page

and here are a couple close ups

and

and here are the stamps I used on this journal page:
and the line of chevrons stamp
and the ampersand stamp
and the grunge numbers from Plate 1444
and last but not least checkerboard border
I also used yummy Momenta inks and glimmer mists to color this page up.  Have a great day and thanks for stopping by!

You & Me

Hi everyone, Glenda here with a scrapbook layout using 5 Viva Las VegaStamps!  I know I said I was doing project life my way but I also did a regular layout. Yeah I'm a rebel like that! haha  I had a bunch of pics of the hubs and I and decided to do a layout on us and how many years we have been together. I had a lot of fun making this layout using some pictures that I had of the hubs and I.
What I love about stamps is that if you don't have the right embellishment you can custom make your own!  I used the Banksy painter (love this guy!!)

and the You color my world
and the Admit ticket
and last but not lease the checkerboard border
 and here is a closeup
I wanted to make it look like the banksy painter had paint dripping from his brush so I sprayed different colors of Glimmer Mists and let them drip down and then dry before gluing him onto the page.
I hope you enjoyed seeing my layout and until next time,

Project Life my way and Viva Las VegaStamps!

I have been thinking about starting project life for some time now but never thought I wanted to stop doing my regular scrapbooking.  What would I do with all my supplies? Would I like it? Was it creative enough? I had alot of questions and then in May I decided to bite the bullet and jump right in and give it a try.

Now I'm not talking about doing the actual "Project Life" with their supplies and everything.  I'm not even going to do mine by the week like most people are doing.  I'm doing project life my way, which I think is going to work good for me!  I may even continue doing regular scrapping plus do some project life pages, I'm a rebel like that.

Here is what I did:

1.  I went out and bought some pocket pages (the ones I got were by We R Memory Keepers) and I also got the We R Memory Keepers 3 x 4 paper punch so I could start using my own papers because I have a ridiculously large stash of papers, like it's obscene... and I also got a few pages by Kaiser Craft that had some awesome 3 x 4 cards on it as well as some sticker packs.  I already use 3 ring binders so I didn't have to purchase a new one.
The first thing that sucked was that the We R Memory Keepers 3 x 4 punch would not unlock.  Yep, the first step is to unlock the damn thing which it would not do. I took it back to the store the next day and the other two ladies who worked at the store could not unlock it either.  They also pulled the other 3 off the shelf and tried unlocking them and nope, it was a no go.  So I got my money back and decided from here on in, until they make an easier punch, I will just cut them myself and if I want rounded corners I have a super easy mini corner rounder.  I would love to know if anyone else has this punch and how it's working for them because I really, really wanted it to work!!

2.  I also got a plastic storage tub from Walmart so that I could fill it up with precut cards, making my life easier.  The tub I got fits the little 3 x 4 cards on the one side and the larger 4 x 6 cards on the other so I was quite happy with this!  It also came with a lid so if you are worried about dust you can seal it up.
After losing hours of my life online searching Pinterest and other sites for project life ideas and tips I was now ready to make my title page!!

The first thing I did was to place my plastic pocket page on my scrap table and stare at it.  Then I decided what I would do first is to find the cards I wanted to use and then add my pictures to it.  The next step was to place my stamps and any embellishments I wanted to use on the cards so I could see how it would look before making anything permanent.
Once I was happy with how things looked I then stamped and glued and here is my finished title page for project life my way!

Here are some closeups
I used a white sharpie to color in the hexagon squares!
I used 6 fabulous stamps for this page and they were the set of two hands pointing (I used only the one hand),

the row of stars

and last but not least the victorian flourish.
I hope you enjoyed seeing my title page and I am really looking forward doing more of this project life style scrapping!!
