Her wings- my art: art page tutorial

Hello my dear crafty friends!
Irit is here and this time I made an art  journal page tutorial.
I know that making art page tutorial is almost mission impossible. There is no right or wrong way to make the art page and there is no workshop that can teach you " copy writing" of those book pages.
So it's just to show you my way to use products and to cluster techniques on one single page  with just  bit of real dimension.
Step by step instructions:
1. Gather your favorite VLVS backgrounds and make  a full letter size stamped piece with them.  I wanted those stamps to stay a background ones, so I used VersaMark ink and white embossing powder only.
Most of the stamps are not even masked, but just stamped one near another.

2. Grab you three primary Staz-On inks (Blazing Red, Azure and Mustard) and ink the stamped page with a mix of them. As you can see those 3 primary colors give us the full rainbow effect. I need to say that this works much better over the glossy paper, but I was short of the glossy one and used the regular Mixed Media thick white paper.

3. Now we need to add some dimension and the best way to do it on Mixed Media piece is with stencils and some paste. The paste I used is our Israeli Sand Texture one, but it's just similar to any non smooth texture paste on the market. I used a couple of Tando Creative stencils around the page and left the central part clean as we are going to add the focal point there anyway. Let the paste dry.

4. While waiting for the texture paste to dry, I stamped my big focal image using  Whimsical Lettered Man stamp. I know it's a man; so what? It looks like a strong courageous woman to me, kind of an Amazon.
I decided to use pigmented ink and clear embossing powder for this main image: glossy one and durable too as it goes to the front.
5. As I was still waiting for the texture paste to dry I heat embossed a pair of bare chipboard wings with a mix of colorful embossing powders and added a bit of clear glitter too.

6. From this point and on it was just to arrange all pieces over the background and to add whatever you want to add.
So I added a bit of stamped blue images using Solid  circles  stamp and  Butterflies row stamp.
I arranged the hand cut head and the wings over the page. Then I stamped two sentiments with the same Crafter's ink over the sticky canvas (this is a perfect ink  for  fabric stamping and all you need to do is to heat it/iron it to make it permanent). Some splashes of mists were added and my art page was done.

Here are a couple of close- ups to this page:

As you can see this time I decided to make a page according to sentiments. If it says" bold and bright"-  it will be bold and bright, even if those are not my usual art colors.
Thanks for reading my tutorial and see you soon again!

What's in a jar

Hi, Hermine here, today I played around with my dylysions sprays again and made this card.

step 1: take a white piece of paper and spray with Dylussion Turquiose and dab with a paper towel, this provides you with an awesome pattern.

step 2: take a stencil and spray again with a different colour Dylyssions, I used purple.

step 3: stamp the Mason Jar 18957 with Stazon Black, stamp also on masking paper and cut out, only use the outside but cover the lid

step 4: remove mask and sponge with white gesso

step 5: put the mask back on and stamp the Mounted Bird head 19163 with Stazon Black and the Grunge Circles 19563 with Memento Luxe Wedding Dress.

step 6: Colour the bird  with colouring markers and make some white accents with gesso in the little dots of the stencil and take some lids and stamp circles with gesso.

step 7:  take a little piece of paper and stamp It's your big day 19475 with Stazon Black. Punch a hole in it. Punch 2 holes just underneath the lid of the stamped image, take a piece of string and tie the text to it.

Hope you like it.
Warmly Hermine

Tea Bag Art journaling

Hello to you all today. Shanna here with my day up to inspire you all with some stamping fun.

I wanted to play with a moon and I did. I started with a tea bag and some matte gel medium to adhere the tea bag to my journal page.

I started with the Stars - #19291 stamp and combined it with some WOW embossing powder.

Then I used the stamp Waybill/Invoice - #19416 with Vintage Photo Distress Ink.

I stamped the Butterfly Specimens. I dripped India Ink and spritzed it with water to make drips.

Last I added the Happy Moon which I stamped on white cardstock and cut out. I added him by using matte gel medium so that I could take a black pitt pen to buff a black circle around him.

Last I added the wording with a white gel pen.
It was a real quick art journal page but lots of fun.

Some people feel the rain....

Hello everyone,

Today I have an art journal to share! There are quite a few photos, so go have yourself a coffee and sit down and relax !

Here's the finished project.

Here is how I made this :

I started with a blank page in my journal and two colours of Distress Inks with a blending tool.

This was how it looked when I was done.

Next I took a stencil and a spray bottle of water ..... mopped the water up with kitchen paper.

and got this result; neat isn't it?

I then used a some stamps, inks and some embossing powder too, to stamp the background..

This was the result. I stamps the 'tape X' with white ink but I could hardly see it, that is why I decided to heat emboss them with white embossing powder. It looks a bit rough but I quite liked that and left it that way...

I then stamped the main image with black Archival ink...

I splattered some white ink on the page.... and tried to get some of the colour out of the girls face and arms and also her umbrella with a water brush; wetting it and dabbing it off. It didn't work very well. I think it is the paper in this journal...

Next I stamped the sentiment twice....

the plan was to cut it apart and use the pieces, which is what I did...

Here's another look at the finished project...

I used the following stamps:

Celebrate Everything - Art Journal Page

Hi everyone!

My name is Susanne and today it's the first time for me to give you some inspiration with the awesome Viva Las Vegastamps. It's such a honor for me to be part of this talented design team. Today, I'd like to share an art journal page.

Here are the step by step instructions:

Step 1: I started with a gelli printed background, added some Gesso with a scraper and some Neocolor II watercolor pastels.

Step 2: I blended the Neocolors with some water and a brush and added color until I was happy.

Step 3: I removed some of the Neocolor with a wet baby wipe by using a stencil. The result is a nice texture.

Step 4: Before stamping the main image I covered the area, where it would be placed, with gesso.

Step 5: I stamped the main image, the Dancing Lady and the You Are Here  sentiment with Jet Black Archival Ink. I also used the Waybill/Invoice Background to add some interest to the background.

Step 6: Now it was time to drew the mason jar arround the Dancing Lady. I sketched it first and traced the lines with a black uniPOSCA marker. I colored the Dancing Lady as well as the jar with the Neocolors II.

Step 7:  I adhered the Until Further Notice (stamped on white paper) to my page. I colored it also with Neocolor II. Now I took the black and white uniPOSCA marker to add some doodling and to highlight the You Are Here. Finally I added some interest with the Dictionary Page stamp and the Toy Airplane stamp (in the right upper corner). The black paint splatters give the page it's final touch.

Here are some more detailed images:
