Finish Focus: Gilded Iron

The Quatrefoil Floor Lamp (SK1500GI-L) by Suzanne Kasler for Visual Comfort is shown here in our Gilded Iron finish.

We are very proud to offer a fantastic assortment of exquisite, hand-applied living finishes at Visual Comfort. The great care we take in creating our finishes produces beautiful results and is part of what makes our lighting collections so special. We are devoted to authentic, natural materials that give our designs their custom nature. We create “living” finishes that are warm and real, fashioned to enrich and patina over time.

The Large Morris Lantern (SK5010) by Suzanne Kasler for Visual Comfort shown in Gilded Iron finish.

Gilded Iron is one of our newer finishes, but it has already proven to be a favorite among our clients. The method of creating this finish includes hand-applying gold leaf. The results are very representative of the hand-made nature of our item rendering each lamp or fixture a unique work of art. In addition to the beautiful color and depth that comes with our Gilded Iron finish, an added plus is the fact that it is a very low-maintenance finish—simply dust with a microfiber cloth.

Inspiring Kitchen Design

This kitchen designed by Ken Fulk features Visual Comfort’s Country Industrial Pendants and Garey Wall Lights, both in Polished Nickel.

Kitchens benefit as much from beautiful lighting as any other room. The right lighting can radically transform a kitchen just as the right jewelry lends new life to one’s trusty little black dress. More and more, kitchens are becoming gathering places for family and friends and often serve as the nerve center of one’s home. Shouldn’t the room in which you charge your batteries with your morning coffee, recount the day’s events with your children, and lovingly prepare meals for your family feature beautiful lighting? Many of the nation’s top designers opt for our many of our designs which lend themselves perfectly to kitchen design. There are countless options for any style whether you gravitate towards a traditional, industrial, or modern look.   Visual Comfort founder, Andy Singer’s home was designed by J. Randall Powers and was featured in House Beautiful a few years ago. For the kitchen, designer and client opted for the classic Country Industrial Pendant in Bronze with White Glass shades. giannetti cliffwood2
