The case of the missing black Nike sock.

Don't get me wrong here, I am writing no Enid Blyton or Nancy Drew story.

Last night I was intending to do my laundry when I realised that one of my black Nike socks was missing (in my room!!). It was practically impossible for something like that to happen 'cos all my clothes are in the room and I could swear I saw that pair of socks lying around on the floor just a minute ago. So I went around looking the house looking for it - the toilet, the living room (?), the doorway, the kitchen (??!!), inside the laundry bag (sigh! I had to pour everything out), in the refrigerator... okay, just kidding. In short, everywhere. I got so frustrated to a point where I almost believed there were some unknown forces in my house attempting to steal my sock from me -_- Just as I gave up the search and lifted my laundry bag to bring it to Blob's toilet (where the washing machine is)....

There it was, lying comfortably underneath the bag. Arrgghhhh.

Received Andy Hui's latest 3-CD album in the mail today. Thank you so much Z!! :)

Caught Charlize Theron (and Christina Ricci, tsk tsk + *rolls eyes*) in "Monster" last night with the rest. A gripping storyline, despite the pretty much traumatizing (but mild) rape scene *shudder*. Used to think that it was rated R(A) in Singapore for the violence and gore, but I guess it's more of the lesbian theme. Anyhow, Charlize and Christina look bad as a couple, and it's the latter who spoils the beauty of it all. Don't even ask me anything about the sex scene -_-

It's amazing how Charlize can transform from a very low C-grade "Sweet November" role to an A-grade Oscar winning "Monster" one in just three years. Good on you, girl. Ha ha. Another one of my best friends.

Woohoo. Caught Calvin Klein's latest ad for jeans as I passed by the Flinders Station tram stop about a week ago. Absolutely loved it (hot! hot! hot!), so I decided to take a shot from inside the tram, for the memories. I think it looks pretty nice through the window. A nice, pretty effect, although a bit blurry. Oh by the way, is this ad allowed in Singapore? Bwahahahahhahaa.

Alright, have to go study now. Katakana quiz on Tuesday. Sigh.

And I was not looking
Was content to remain
And its ironic to be back in the game.

Lately.

Being the horrid mean bitch I always am, I took a shot of this very ugly guy (and I really do mean drop-dead ugly) sitting opposite me on the tram yesterday, with the built-in camera in my handphone, just for fun and laughter. Showed it to Piggy, and she died, too. I know it's probably not his fault that he looks like that, but sometimes I will spot people so ugly on the street that I wished secretly to myself that they had never been born. Really.

Till later. Got dinner on tonight with Nat and Pig.

Just the other night while you were sleeping
I vaguely heard you whisper someone's name
But when I ask you of the thoughts you're keeping
You just say nothing's changed.

S Club 7 - Lately.

It's been a few months, but I'm still mad about this song. S Club 7, you guys have been redeemed with this amazing cover.

Apparently my hot babe from Japanese class is quite a bitch, so Pat says. Oh well, shit happens.

Go Leah Labelle from American Idol. I mean, go away. I don't like her because she's got the "Oh look at me I am pretty and I can sing!" look. Bleh.

I like Jasmine from Hawaii :> John Stevens!! :>

It's been a month since you went away.

Can you see all of us from where you are?

We miss you.

Back to loneliness.

Three hours of school today - first two at Jap class, the third at Gender studies tutorial. Touched on the POPULATION issue. It was odd though, like in India they have the government forcing women to go for sterilisation, while at the other end of the world (ie: Singapore), we are worried about our declining birth rates. Felt suuuuuper embarrassed when I was asked about Singapore's three-child benefits thing, because I couldn't remember what exactly the benefit was. Paid maternity leave, educational benefits or what?!? I had to apologise for not being able to explain in-depth. ARRRRGH!!!! And it didn't help being the only Singaporean in that class. I need to read more of the Straits Times -_-

On another note, my tutors (every single one) this semester rock. Never had tutors like them for the previous semesters. I feel blessed for having some motivation to go for my lessons... haha.

Spotted cool + funky + aloof + sporty babe in Jap class. I think I've stared at her for like the 4th time in 3 weeks? Today I found out that she is Singaporean too because she came up to me during the game this afternoon and we exchanged a few words. She asked me where I lived. "Err... St Kilda" I replied. "No lah. I mean Singapore." How weird. (You want to share cab from the airport already ah? I was thinking. Well anyway, I realised we can't, because she lives at Marine Parade... haha). I won't say she's like hwar-hwar pretty or what. Just... attractive.

Oh, and her name's Anne too. It killed me.

Dad (and Mom?), maybe "Anne" would be a better name for me. I just might have a higher chance of looking pretty.

PS: Sekiguchi sensei makes me nervous.

Altered impressions.

Today after Jap class, a friend and I walked out of the classroom together with our sensei (whom I happen to like very much), and as we were walking down the stairs she was telling us that she has a next class very soon but, not without "this" first - and she held up this little red box for us to see. Initially I was a little puzzled about what that box contained inside, but I didn't ask just in case it ended up being a silly question. After she mentioned "this" for the second time, I felt like I just had to ask her "What's that?" and so I did.

"It's uhm... cigarettes... I'm a horrible smoker." she replied with a sheepish smile, that kind you usually see on Japanese women... as though being a smoker was something she was terribly embarrassed about.

So desu ne. (Now Piggy, don't roll your eyes ;p)

Well, it never occurred to me that she is the type who smokes horribly. I guess looks can be deceiving.

"Ne". Perhaps the most overused Japanese word ever. I don't particularly hate it (in actual fact, it's just like a "decorative" particle which is used after certain sentences expressing agreement), but it's just very very annoying when some people insert it after every sentence they say/type. Even if its in ENGLISH. Nenenenenenene.

"Ne, sick already must drink more water and eat more fruits ne. Don't everytime sleep late then become panda ne." Something like that. ARRRRGGHHHHH.

Hiragana quiz (worth 2% of the total, but it will help in the long run I am sure!) in less than 12 hours. Ganbatte NE!

Bwahahhahahahahhaa -_-

I think I'd better leave right now,
Before I fall any deeper.

Will Young - Leave Right Now.

We've only just begun.

In a terribly foul mood now, because firstly, I cannot find my file - the file which contains all my important papers and stuff. My lecture notes, tutorial notes, course guidelines, and hiragana/katakana practice!! I must have left it at the counter while at Dick Smith's this afternoon. It's killing me that it's closed now and I can't call them up to check if it's there. It's killing me that I could have left it on the tram (although very unlikely) or worse still, somewhere else. It's killing me that I don't know what time they open -_- Dear File, I hope you stay where you are and wait for me to get back to you. I will so die a horrible death if I lose you for good. Sob.

Secondly, I am trying to do some minor timetable changes via Alloc8 (stupid name, I know - it actually sounds like what some Singaporeans would say online -_-) and due to a lack of knowledge that my timetable was to be turned upside down after clicking a certain button, lo and behold, my timetable is now in danger of being changed 360 degrees. I can only hope with crossed fingers that it doesn't affect my initial timetable much cos it's going to be alot of effort working out the clashes here and there all over again. It's hard to explain my agony here... oh well. I just hope everything goes well tomorrow. File, and timetable.

On another note altogether, I am surprised that I opened my mouth to participate in the tutorial today. Even when I didn't exactly digest that silly reading. Wow wow. Lynn contributing an idea in class is a really, really rare event okay *feels proud of self* And considering it was a gender studies class, of which I know nuts about -_-

I bought 2 pairs of boxers (?!) from Target after class today, because I realise, to my horror, that I didn't pack enough shorts to wear at home here. Sigh.

Still in a foul mood, and absolutely no motivation to carry on blogging.

Took these pics at Nat's and Fai's (they are housemates) place on the night of the Oscar's.

After dinner (we called for delivery). Doh! :>

mm, myself, and Fai, with cheesy grins.

Actually I cannot get over the fact that Ben lost the Oscar to Sean. "Mystic River" was such a bad movie, it was probably one of the worst I've seen in my entire existence, alongside "Intolerable Cruelty" -_- Oh well, I guess the acting and the plot are somewhat independent of each other.

When you are with me, I'm free
I'm careless, I believe.
Above all the others we'll fly
This brings tears to my eyes.

Creed - My Sacrifice.

Someone guess what's the song on repeat mode now? :p

Bored.

What is Your Heart REALLY Made of?
brought to you by Quizilla

It's not that I am bored with nothing to do, I'm just bored that I am having a 4.15 tutorial later and I haven't exactly touched the reading, which is dead sucky by the way.

"Any discussion of the intellectual and political construction of "third world feminisms" must address itself to two simultaneous projects: the internal critique of hegemonic "Western" feminisms, and the formulation of autonomous, geographically, historically, and culturally grounded feminist concerns and strategies."

What. The. Hell. Are. You. Talking. About.

Oh well, sigh. I guess I'll go skim through it for awhile, just in case I feel like chalking up some participation points later -_-

Weird.

Isn't it weird?
Isn't it strange?
Even though we're just two strangers on this runaway train
We're both trying to find a place in the sun
We've lived in the shadows, but doesn't everyone?
Isn't it strange, how we all feel a little bit weird sometimes?

Isn't it hard standing in the rain?
Yeah you're on the verge of going crazy and your heart's in pain
No one can hear but you're screaming so loud
You feel like you're all alone in a faceless crowd
Isn't it strange how we all get a little bit weird sometimes?

Sitting on the side
Waiting for a sign
Hoping that my luck will change
Reaching for a hand that'll understand
Someone who feels the same
When you live in a cookie-cutter world
Being different is a sin (If you're different you can't win)
So you don't stand out, and you don't fit in...
Weird.

Isn't it strange, how we all feel a little bit weird
Strange, how we all get a little bit
Strange, how we all feel a little bit weird
Sometimes.
Just a little bit weird sometimes.

Hanson - Weird.

Am no fan of bubblegum pop, but Hanson sometimes has the ability to sweep you off your feet.

The weekend started off with a loud bang, literally. Woke up to the sounds of racing cars going "vrrrooom vrrrooom" on Friday morning at 11 or so. It was actually very, very annoying because Fridays were supposedly for me to sleep in (for your info, I live within eye-distance, for lack of a better word, of the Australian Grand Prix). In short, I can hear and see the action from where I live. Everyone's envious, saying I should go get tics or something to catch it LIVE. But nah, there's no company and no interest. It's sweltering hot out there too! ;p Oh by the way, the winner's name is Michael Schumacher I heard? ;p

Anyone who wants Grand Prix merchandise from Melbourne, drop me a comment.

One-sentence smses in the middle of the night are not doing me any good.
Oddly enough though, it seems like a constant craving now.

Maybe a great magnet pulls
All souls towards truth
Or maybe it is life itself
That feeds wisdom to its youth.

K.D. Lang - Constant Craving.

I will paint you as I first saw you.
Not a maid... you.

We were all supposed to meet up today for "Girl With A Pearl Earring", but guess what?! "Something urgent" (blah) cropped up for Kenn, Nat decided she was too tired to leave the house (?!), and therefore only myself and Piggy were left - alone, again. For both the movie and dinner. Sigh. So much for wanting to watch this together. Nevertheless, I thought it was pretty a-okay (not falling asleep at all says alot!). Nothing spectacular, I thought. But I kinda liked how the ambiguous relationship between Vermeer and the maid was left there for people to feel, rather than directly expressing it to the audience. Classic.

Actually, I realise I like Scarlett Johansson. She's charismatic, in her own unique way ^_^

So I've been through one entire week of school. So so so glad that I finally have Fridays off for the first time -_- And for once, I actually managed to make it for every single lesson on my timetable, even the ones at 10 and 11 in the morning!! Rawwrr. Motivation motivation. I need lots of it. Hope I can turn over a new leaf and sustain this attitude throughout the semester... heh.

Oh! Mom just msged to tell me she's "booked" (?) a new Camry and asked which colour I wanted her to get. So sweet ^_^ To think she actually wanted my opinion for her car!!

*rushes off to view Toyota site*

Okay, finally decided on either Silver or Black after half an hour of consideration. The others are waaaaaay toooooo obiang! But I can't decide between the 2 now!!!!!!! -_- Oh well. I shall leave it to Mom herself. By the way Jo! Congrats on getting that licence!!! Woohoo. We are sooo gonna visit the prata places the next time I get back :) And yes, if I don't get mine by July (-_-), and if your dad's car ain't available, I will let you drive the Camry. Hahaha! Oh gosh, I'm speaking as though the Camry is mine -_-

Isn't it weird?
Isn't it strange?
Even though we're just strangers on this runaway train.

Hanson - Weird.

Hmm. Runaway train, runaway train. I kinda miss ya.

I'm not your superwoman.

People like you becuase you're a sweetheart!
What attracts people to you?

brought to you by Quizilla

Okay, I actually feel pretty embarrassed about this supposed SWEETIE thing. Tsk tsk -_- By the way Piggy, you can start swooning now 'cos look who's on the pic!!! Haha.

Now you say the juice is sour
It used to be so sweet.
And I can't help but wonder
If you're talking about me.

Karen White - Superwoman.
