Much of March
Hello!
Haha I was wondering what to title the subject of this mail and that took me a couple of seconds actually. Well, since I haven't blogged for this month and we are in the month of March, I thot a title with some rhyme could do the trick! You know, I really wonder if social blogs have begun to see a sunset, given the up and fast growing popularity with social media like Friendster, Myspace, and in recent years evolving to Facebook and Tweeter, and now we got WhatsApp. Haha, and so what's next huh? :p
My previous post was written when I just returned from NZ. Have u guys seen the NZ pics? Have posted them on facebook (social media, again hur!) Yeah, here's the link to the pics. The trip was great and we both enjoyed it! Considering that this was like our first experience spending more than a week 'stucked' with each other - you can imagine morning, afternoon, night, morning, afternoon, night and that goes on - Thank God we didn't 'tear' each other apart nor had any major conflicts! Phew! Hahaha! But surely, we discovered new stuffs about each other that we didn't for almost 5 years dating :) I believe we learn about each other as we go along. If a marriage is for life, till death do we part, then this discovery about each other is going to be a journey. Along this journey, we should be prepared to uncover hard truths about each other, standby each other in times of difficulties, be involved in each others' dreams and aspirations, and be interested in each others' lives :) Haha sometimes we laugh off our differences by saying "too bad lar, signed on dotted line liao, so just accept lar." Personally, the NZ trip was refreshing and inspirational. Refreshing because it was a simple good break for me away from all the Singapore buzz. Inspirational because I was totally in awe of the beautiful geographies in NZ, from its wide ranging yellow-green landscape to the natural mist 'brewing' from the snow-capped moutains! The sceneries and natural landscapes were breathtaking (at least to me personally). I kept bugging Max with geography stuffs.... why this... why that. Obviously I have returned much of my geog to my teachers! Ooops! I hope my photos can speak for the awesome scenes in NZ. But u really got to be there to truly experience first-hand :) Thank God, we were back home before the earthquake hit Christchurch. We were relief, but yet saddened at the same time. Some of the spots we visited in Christchurch have been destroyed by the earthquake. I still remember visiting the Christchurch cathedral and stood outside the chapel for awhile to watch an on-going mass. Apparently, the cathedral was affected by the earthquake, and part of the cathedral have collasped. Sigh! It's more than a 100 years old, and I don't think any reconstruction can bring back its original state. I haven't been catching up on the post-earthquake efforts in NZ, hope they are progressing well. Anyway, I would wish to visit NZ again. Haha! How nice would it be to plan a NZ-Australia trip!!! *grins*
After close to a 2-week break, I thought I was going to have a hard (and terrible) time adjusting back to work. Thank God, the wednesday blues (no monday blues cos i was still on leave then, hahaha!) weren't as bad as expected! Phew! The past month or so really went by so quickly, one week after another. Imagine a pie chart depicting 24 hours we have a day. I reckon work occupies a bulk of this pie chart! Workload wise, I think it's manageable. But there are issues like intense pace of work, managing politics and people differences that can often suck up my mental bandwidths! Haha but I have been trying to reduce my long work hours (got improvement leh!), and spend more time on R&R. Have also spending a bit more time reading these days. My current book is Superfreakomics. It's a great book so far, presenting economic theories in the real-world context, and yet not sounding like the good-old economic textbooks on the shelf (zzz). Haha! Besides this book, I have been doing easy reading over a mix of economics and business articles that I subscribe online from The Economist, McKinsey and the likes. I'm reading for fun, for general knowledge, also these topics would help me in my work since my team ought to stay abreast of what's going on out there and think ahead of the possible implications to Singapore and companies keen on overseas business. Haha I usually read off my iPhone!!! Sometimes when the limited screen size of the iPhone becomes a strain for my eyes, I would read stuffs off my Mac. Hmmm... Don't think I can put off the iPad temptation for too long =P
Honestly, I'm in a crossroad right now. Been having very mixed feelings and uncertain about the next course of action. Not convenient to talk about it here today. Haha let's see, maybe I share more in my subsequent entries :)
Alritey, time to get ready to koon already! It's back to work tmr!!!
