French Poem Buffet

I love stencils.

I especially LOVE this French Poem one from Royal Design Studio.

I'd always wanted it.

I've just had my birthday in February and my husband asked me what I wanted for my BD.

 My first answer was *some nice old furniture*.....seriously!!....lol

But I changed my mind

 (since furniture is something I often get anyways, I wanted something special)

so I told him that I wanted this stencil.

 

 

 I ordered it and about 4days later (yes, they do a quick shipping)

 I was holding this beautiful stencil in my hands and I absolutely loved it!!

Believe me, you'll see me use this stencil a lot from now on,lol

 

 

My project this time was this skateboard sporting buffet/sideboard.

 

I usually remember where I got it and how much I paid for it and so on

but not this one.... I know I bought it somewhere but I can't remember....

I just got a year older so that maybe explains,lol

 

Anyways, I was itching to try this pretty stencil.

So I painted this buffet in Coco and Old White.

Added a different stencil on the top drawers and here she is!!

 

 

 

 

 

I love this French poem, even though I don't understand everything.

Silver Box Inspired Dresser

 

 

 

I saw this pretty box at a local Winners a while ago.
(Who loves Winners? Me! Me!)

French and sparkly silver designs on it.
Love at first sight.....

 So I bought it and left it on the top of my dresser in our bedroom.

One day, I was in the bed thinking what kind of design I wanted to do for my next dresser project.

I looked around and saw the box.

It just catches my eye every time I look at it

so I said to myself "Let's do the dresser like this box!"

 

So I got to work.

Oh here's the picture of the box and the befores of the dresser.

Lovely, isn't it?

 

 

After my husband sanded it for me.

 

After the primer.

 

 

Then I painted it with bluish gray paint then added French themed designs on it.

I used silver liquid leaf to do the designs.

I spray painted the brand new knobs ( because I used the originals on another dresser) in silver.

 

Here's my silver box inspired dresser.

 

 

The silver is not as shiny as the ones on the box,

but I'm happy with how it turned out.

Graphite Desk

 

I love old,vintage desks.
There's something about them always attract me,the shapes, the lines....

I've done one for my daughter, my son, and not so long ago I finished 2 more,

and this one is my latest.

 

 

 

The moment I saw it, I knew it was coming home with me!

 

 

 

This is before....very handsome lines, don't you think???

Some of the moldings on the drawer front were off and bottom drawers were too tight,

 but that didn't stop me from getting it.

 

 

I simply pained it with Graphite and Old White.

 

The drawer guide for the left bottom drawer was broken, so I changed it and I glued the missing moldings, filled some holes,sanded and applied Polyurethane on the top.

 

I also added French script papers in the bottom drawers.
Entire desk was hand waxed to seal in the smooth finish.

 

Here's the finished product.

 

(sorry for poor quality pictures....I did my best...)

 

I just like those clean, simple, straight lines.

 

 

 

 

 

 I think this French script papers look perfect for this desk.

It goes all around, the back is painted as well so it can be free standing :)

The right is original, the left one is the one being replaced.
I didn't stain the bare part of the side, but I will to match the rest of the wood.

 

Lightly distressed for a vintage look.

 

Now this desk is classic looking, I like it but.....

I might add some nice design on top to make it more like one of a kind.

If I do, I'll share that too when it's done :)
