Happy Birthweek, Brian!

The boys and I treated Brian to a whole week of birthday celebrations this year. It was so much fun to plan and Jaxon loved showering him with gifts and attention. All week Jaxon reminded me that I should "do everything for Dad because it was his special week". I tried to do everything for him, but if you know Brian you know that doesn't happen. He is always right there to take care of us and serve us...even if he's told not to!

We had a count down for the five days before his birthday and each day he was given a card and a little something from us.

The fifth day before his birthday was a Sunday and we treated him to a 5 course meal that included lasagna, salad, breadsticks, corn, and apple cobbler. We even went so far as to have sparkling apple cranberry juice in goblets! It was a lot of fun and a great way to start out the week.

On the 4th day he was given golf tee's and some practice golf balls.

Two Christmas's ago we gave Brian a digital picture frame for his office. Since he still hadn't taken it out of the box :) we decided to re-gift it. This time we had already downloaded pictures on it for him so all he had to do was take it to work!

To say Brian loves "Sandwich Wednesday" would be a gross understatement! On this day we went to visit him at work and took him a sandwich from Jimmy Johns.

With 1 day before his birthday we gave Brian an old-school Utah Jazz shirt
(the green one with the music note).

On his birthday he was given this card and a puzzle we made for him telling him what his birthday present was.Brian putting the puzzle together. Jaxon was great to not spill the surprise!

The completed puzzle: Two University of Utah football season tickets!!

We went to Chili's for dinner and then the boys helped Brian blow out his candles on his cinnamon rolls.

To top off his birthday week we had dinner with his family on Sunday. His brother Adam works with someone who played football with Kyle Wittingham and was able to arrange the best gift ever! Adam ordered a 2009 Perfect Season football and had it autographed by Kyle Wittingham (head coach), Brian Johnson (Quarterback), and Luis Sakota (kicker). His family all pitched in and gave him the football, a display case, and a certificate of authenticity.

I know Brian loved and appreciated his birthday week from the boys and I, but this gift from his family brought him very close to tears. :)

St. Patrick's Day

St. Patrick's Day was a success this year at our house. We woke up to find the Leprechauns had caused quite a bit of havoc in the house. Chairs tipped over, a chair on the counter, one of Jaxon's school projects hanging from the light, the milk was dyed green, pictures turned around, etc. Jaxon was so exited! He refused to let me clean up the mess (it was driving me crazy!) until after Brian got home from work to see it. I was pretty pleased with his reaction to the Leprechauns visit. Although instant panic struck when he told me after breakfast that it was time to find the treasure the Leprechauns left somewhere in our house. Crap! No one told me they had to leave a treasure.
He informed me that you are supposed to follow the green trail to find where the treasure was hidden so Jaxon went from one green thing (Mom! Look! The plant is green!! Look! There's green on this book! Mom!!) to another. He was patient enough to wait for Brian to get home to continue the search. After dinner Jaxon went on a hunt for the treasure. He found a note from the Leprechauns with a bag of golden treats (Golden Oreo's, Golden Grahams, Golden Wafers). The note:
More searching and then the bag of gold (Rollo's) was spotted. The holiday was a hit (even without decorations) and once again Jaxon said this was the best day of his whole life.

Going Private

I've woken up a few times in the last two weeks with the strong feeling that I need to make this blog private. Why? I'm not sure, but it's a feeling I can't deny so I'm going with my gut.

So send me an email (or leave a comment with your email) and I will send you an invitation. I'll make it private in a couple of days.
