This summer is different for all of us. We've had some family visit us in ND. Our Grandkids have been growning by leaps and bounds.
Speaking of visitors... I woke one morning with Marilyn loudly whispering, "There's a bear in the yard...get up, there's a bear in the yard." Indeed there was and he was enjoying seed from the bird feeder, the third time at least this feeder has been mauled by a bear. I took a few pictures through the slider and then bravely opened the door and courageously yelled: "May I please have my bird feeder back? Pretty please." He turned tail and ran into the woods...Several have asked how far away was he? I would say about 12 feet from the deck.
Our family joined us at the lake... and enjoyed a hike in Itasca State Park.
And we joined them at their home. Can you tell we are narrowing our social interaction?
The lake has its graceful creatures with no concern for Covid.
We had to have s'mores of course with the Eagle Scout in charge of the fire...
A neighbor texted me one morning that Pileated Woodpeckers were chomping down on some old 4X4's in a retaining wall getting bugs from the rotting wood. Like many parents a lot of time is spent seeing that their little ones are fed.
Though looking at this "little one" I would say that he is just about the size of his parent.
One afternoon two power boats were zipping loudly back and forth in the lake... they are really noisy. I noticed that they were Sheriff's Department boats, probably getting some practice time for when they may really be needed.
On our way to the lake we stopped at Bergeson's nursery for their great summer display of blooming flowers. No pictures do it justice.
