Easter Celebrations 2012

Last weekend was the Redding family gathering. We colored eggs and of course the girls had to wear their new Easter hats for the process. It is so fun to visit with those four little ones. They nearly bowled me over when I got out of the car. Priceless!!!

The day prior to Easter Sunday, I had a brunch for the Sacramento Family. Kevin and Rachel, Shawn, Tesha and Reese were here for quiche, ham, homemade cinnamon rolls and fruit. Way too many carbs but we enjoyed every bite and had a good visit.

Last weekend I traveled to Redding to visit with Kristi and family. Cody was a star in the play Sleeping Beauty. He was a guard for the Queen and did a great job as a Goon for the witch. He is a character! Kristi was in charge of the cast party and made 150 beautiful cupcakes. Looks like pinterest material to me.

Kevin taking care of Reese. He is a great Uncle and so proud of her.

Kevin and Rachel (girlfriend from San Diego) are enjoying each other's
company for a new weeks while she is home on semester break.
They are good for each other.

Birthday boy (December 28) had a pizza party at Chicago Fire Pizza. Yummy!!

Lots of batches fudge were made and wrapped as tokens for our friends and neighbors. Nothing like a little chocolate. The tree was very pretty decorated in all gold and silver and Christmas wouldn't be complete without the nativity.

2011 in Review

Our year was filled with challenges and blessings but we are glad to have each other to share our lives.

Kristi and her husband Garrett are very busy with four little ones, Cody 9, Logan 7, Emily 3, and Abby 2.  Garrett is an engineer at the Redding Fire Department and Kristi is a Social Worker for CPS for the county. The boys are busy with every sport that includes a ball and Cody is also a member of the local children’s choir.  As they grow, each day is a new adventure and they each have darling and very unique personalities.

Cody is learning to ride horses with the neighbors and as I watched him last week, I was so impressed with his natural skill.  He must get that from his great-grandpa Otto.  The girls are full of rough and tumble but did take time out to sit me down for a makeover with hair and make-up tools.  We also played with the princess dolls. Logan never slows down and is always cheerful and can dance like a champion with the Wii dancing game.

Shawn and Tesha brought a huge blessing to our family this year with the birth of our little Reese.  She is such a sweet baby and her smile will send you over the moon.  Shawn is a fireman/paramedic with the City of Sacramento and works at a very busy station in a dangerous part of the city.  Bless his heart for all that he does.  Tesha does a wonderful job as a stylist including keeping the gray hidden in my hair when necessary.  They are both wonderful new parents.

Kevin has finished the fire academy and paramedic school and is currently working as a paramedic in Sacramento County for a private company.  He is good at what he does and is anxious to find that perfect fire job and settle into his career.  He has become a workout machine as of late and spends hours at the gym getting that “perfect body”.  He has quite a sense of humor and if you need a laugh ask him to tell you one of his stories.

I am plugging along with work and counting down to retirement.  With only four years to go, I can’t wait to divide my time between my home in Montana and here in California.  I continue to keep occupied with church work, gardening and a bit of sewing.  Seems like work takes most of my time but it also provides me with the house payment which is a huge blessing in these times.  I am grateful for all the blessing that I have which include my family, my faith and my good health.  We are looking forward to 2012 and the rich experiences it will bring to our family.

Bahama Mama

I decided it was time to take a little vacation so off I went to the Bahamas by myself. I was a little worried about going alone and being bored but much to my delight it was probably one of the best vacations I have ever taken. I met up with six other women who were traveling together. We found ourselves a bodyguard and driver who was a great friend and island native. He escorted us to so many fun events all week long.

The resort was five star and beautiful and had it's own private beach with white powdery sand. There was no need for a snorkle because when you get into the water the fish swim up to you.

We attended bonfires on the beach, a fish fry and went dancing in the town square in Port Lucaya. We laughed and danced and each night went to a different restaurant. It was so much fun and now I have new friends in DC that I can visit.

A New Grandbaby!!

Yeah, Shawn and Tesha are having a baby in September.  I am thrilled to have an addition to our family.  There is nothing like being a Grandma.

Cousin’s Weekend

My cousin Claudia hosted a wonderful 60th birthday celebration in Pacifica. We arrived from many points in California, Alaska and New York and spent just 24 hours together but made the very best of the short time. We had a wonderful evening and dinner and then danced the night away at a cute little club across the street. It is so fun to have family and remember the silly things that we did as kids in Montana. It was a perfect weekend. Thanks Claudia for having a birthday and thanks Aunt Sylvia for having so many cousins for me to share life with.
