Once upon a time there was a cat. And there was a monster. The cats were scared. They hid. That was a good story.

I think Anna has gotten caught up in the commercialism of the season. She just asked me if I was happy because I was holding my head in my hands. I told her I was feeling a little tired and sad. She told me that money would make me feel better and started throwing imaginary money at me. When Daddy asked what Mommy should do with the money she said I should build a sand castle with it. :)

Be nice
Tonight during our daily struggle to wipe off Anna's dinner off her face she said, "Be nice. Be nice a baby's head."

Remembering Anna's signs/speech
I'm going through some older photos and videos tonight (to try to catch up on the blog- hah) and stumbled across this one. It's from September of last year. I had forgotten how hard it could be to understand what she's saying. You can see here how much she used to combine speech and sign. In this video she requests Signing Time (her favorite video series at the time), choo choo (I think she may have been referring to a Thomas the Train video), and her swing (outside on the deck). After being refused all three because we were in the middle of a meal she says she's "all mum" (all done). The signs for Signing Time, train and all done are all accurate. "Swing" is a sign that she made up herself.

A conversation with Anna.
This morning Anna and I saw a baby in the hallway when we were walking to her ear doctor's office.
Anna: Baby!
Mommy: You're right. That's a baby. Are you a baby? (Anna shook her head) Are you a big girl?
Anna: I Anna. (very solemn)

Do your dreams have soundtracks?
The other day, a song came on the radio that I now find rather eerie, not because of the song itself, but because of its association. I told Jen that this song was the soundtrack to a nightmare I had. She was surprised to hear that my dreams had soundtracks. I guess I thought that was normal. I'd say a quarter of my dreams have soundtracks. Jen asked a few people, and it sounds like I might be unusual (as if that's a surprise).
Anyway, do your dreams have soundtracks? If so, how often?

Steve goes to college
Anna and I just finished watching an episode of Blue's Clues titled "Steve Goes to College." I have to admit, I feel a little sad over the whole thing.
Just in case this post raises any eyebrows- no, I'm not pregnant :).
