Another Birthday Month
This is a shout out to the November birthdays. I think Kate B.'s is today, Tiff T.'s was a week ago, Erin V.'s is next Sat. and Nate Bos.'s is the 21st. Jill's b-day might be in November too. In jr. high one year we had a party every week for three weeks in Nov. to celebrate some of those birthdays. On one of those weeks we were at Erin V.'s house. There were a few boys there: Nate B., Tyler T., and probably Mitch since he lived through the field. We toilet papered Mr. Arnell's house. Do you remember Mr. Arnell? He was there our ninth grade year and he helped coach our volleyball team. Do you ever look back on things you did in jr. high or high school and wonder why??? I guess there's worse things you can do than toilet paper someone's house, but what a mess!
Anyway, back to birthdays...Happy Birthday to all you November birthdays!

The Scoop
There's nothing to write about lately and my time is limited so I'm just going to give you an update on everything I know about our classmates.
...Starting with Kera F. Kera is an AMAZING woman. That girl competed in the RAGNAR relay this past summer and if you don't know how crazy that is, find out at ragnarrelay.com. And if that doesn't impress you Kera also competed in the XTERRA triathlon at Snowbasin a month or two ago. That's like a triathlon on steroids. She swam at pineview dam, biked up Wheeler Creek to Snowbasin and then ran on trails there at Snowbasin. What a gal!! Oh, and a year ago I saw that Brett S. did the Ogden Valley Triathlon with his brothers. Kera competed in that race also.
Erin V. competed in the St. George tri with Michelle B. just a few weeks ago. As you know, Michelle is a breast cancer survivor and Erin says she is an awesome triathlete. Erin isn't bad too. She's especially good at the bike portion.
Ok, who's next. Jocelynn Q. just had a baby girl. That makes three for her. That girl is amazing too. I've been trying to get her to let me do a spotlight on her artwork. She does beautiful watercolor paintings.
Speaking of artwork, Star G. has a blog of which I'll give a link to in the future. She paints, she sews, she even makes lip gloss. I bought one of her paintings for my daughters' room and they LOVE it.
If you want to be entertained just listen to Jenny S. tell you about her summer charts. She made us laugh and cry with her stories this summer at a brunch at Emily F.'s.
Lindsay L. and I get together every once in a while. As I was planning for the reunion over a year ago I discovered she only lived 5 minutes away from me. We became reacquainted through walks once a week until it got cold. She moved, but still lives only ten minutes away now and we still talk and get together. Lindsay is now a stay-at-home mom with two cute little boys. On one or two nights a week though she is Professor Lindsay as she teaches for Weber State. I'm sure the kids even call her "Dr." I smile when I think of it.
I saw Lacy B. a few weeks ago. She and her family have just recently moved back in town. They have lived in Missouri and Minnesota I think, while her husband was in school. Feel free to correct any of this information in the "comments" if I am wrong!
Mary R. is an amazing woman. She taught me how to can pears recently. She is a wise woman and always gives great advice without saying anything!
I spent a lovely evening a few weeks ago with Sharon B. She is another AMAZING woman. I know, I've used "amazing" one too many times, but I'm only telling the truth. Sharon and I spent a lovely evening on her porch swing just laughing and talking while the kids played. It was a sweet treat.
Who else????? Jill A. had a baby a year ago. I haven't seen her since, but I know she has a blog so Jill, cough it up!!
Emily F. is living in Salt Lake and working at Primary Children's. She is a dear friend.
Liz F. is another AMAZING woman. She is pregnant with #6. She home schools, bakes her own bread and is the nicest mom to her children. She lives on a "farm" in Ogden's foothills.
Krista J. is still beautiful and sweet as she ever was. I saw her this summer at Emily F.'s
Goodness, I don't have any news about any boys, except that I saw Clint M. for one second a month ago. Oh, I guess I have one thing. Adam D. is a chiropractor working in Ogden. If you break your back go and see him!
Alright folks, there you have it. And just remember, don't believe everything you read on the Internet!!

Groundbreaking Ceremony
I'm doing this post for my mom. She is tired of seeing the same post for the past month or so.
The latest on the new school is that they had a groundbreaking ceremony a few weeks ago. It seemed a little strange since they already broke ground months ago. But, with something as important as a new school I guess you have to make it official. Here are the latest and greatest pictures. Someday I'll have something more interesting to write, but for now enjoy the pictures.

Diggin' and Scratchin'
The new school ground is finally starting to look like a construction zone. For months they did testing, digging hole after hole, and finally they have cleared the field and set up their trailer. These few pictures were taken last week and since then there have a been a few more changes. As always I'll keep you posted.

4th of July, Teacher Sighting
Yes. I'm really posting. I really don't have time, but I guess I'm overdue.
We headed up to Huntsville for the 4th of July parade. We usually go to the Eden parade first, but were very disappointed to hear that Eden cancelled their celebration this year. Hopefully they can get it together for next year. You can't beat the small town 4th of July celebration. I remember being away on the 4th of July one year when I was a kid and I missed it so much. I think no matter where I live the rest of my life I will always consider the 4th of July festivities in the valley the best.
After the parade as we were making the lap around the grassy area of the park I spotted my good friend Emily and she was talking to a sweet old lady. That lady was none other than Mrs. Shiozawa! It has been 24 years since I was in her 2nd grade class. My own daughter is going into 2nd grade and I couldn't believe it was that long ago. She looked the same to me except for her hair was gray. I forgot my camera that morning and don't even have a picture! I couldn't really tell if she remembered me or not, but it didn't matter. It was fun to see her.
Here's a picture of her from one of our yearbooks. She's working away in the ceramic room.
If you remember Mrs. Shiozawa was in charge of the ceramic room. The kids in her class would get ceramics for free. I had some good times in there. The strongest memory I have of the ceramic room is when one day while I was painting or glazing a ceramic with some girls, one of them told me the Easter Bunny wasn't real and it was her mom that told her. How can you dispute that? I must have painted dozens of ceramics and don't have one saved to show for it. I'm sure they were too sloppy to go in the china cabinet.
Mrs. Shiozawa was the one with all the ice skates that we used to go out skating at recess. Emily and I shared memories with her and told her they still have the ice rink in Huntsville. We also talked about the time Mrs. Shiozawa broke her leg jumping rope with the kids in our class. It seemed so traumatic back then .
I'm so glad that she decided to come up to the park. Maybe some of you who were there saw and talked with her too.
Here's a picture of our 2nd/1st grade combined class.
I'm hoping that when they vacate Valley Elementary for good they will have a big party and invite all the former teachers. That would be so fun!
Speaking of Valley Elementary, they have plowed the field and it looks like they are finally ready to begin digging and scratching. I'll definitely keep this blog updated with photos of the progress. Until next time..
