Mr. Handsome

As I'm sure many of you have experienced, greyhounds love clean-up day when all the beds get stacked together and they have a extra cushy, comfy spot for a little while. Here are some pictures of my handsome boy.

It almost feels like you could reach out and touch him here. I just love that sweet face!

He looks a bit wolf-like in this picture, but I really like it.

It's Official!

Puddin Pop is now an official member of our family! I've known she was more than a foster for a long time now, but we finally got around to signing her adoption papers over the weekend. It still blows my mind that someone could return this sweet girl and say that they were afraid of her! I think it was meant to be that she's ours though :) I first fell in love with her at the kennel in Florida, but figured I would never get to see her again and now look - we get to cuddle every day!
She is such a good girl. She loves to play...

Loves to snuggle...

And of course loves to sleep! She swears this is comfortable :)

She has really fit in here so well. Macy seems to enjoy having someone else to pick on besides just Buford :) Puddin learned quickly that Macy was the boss and since then they have got along just fine. Puddin and Buford enjoy playing together...they are always parading around in front of each other with various stuffies saying come play with me!

I can't get enough of her! And she can't get enough belly rubs! She's always ready for more -

Here's an official welcome to the family, Miss Puddin Pop!

Three For One

Mr. Giraffe greeted Macy on her first day home. He was our very first toy and through the holes and some lost stuffing, he has still hung in there. I watched Buford last night as he took great pleasure in both decapitating and amputating poor Mr. Giraffe! (I realize he looks more like a tiger, but was all legs so I always called him a giraffe)

Buford was very impressed with himself for turning one toy into three! The funny thing is that both the head and the leg have provided even more entertainment for them. Even as I took these pictures tonight, Buford reached up and helped himself to the head while Macy opted for the leg. They were both tossing their treasures up in the air as I began this post :)

A Tear and A Scare

I wasn't sure what to call this post, so I went with my first thought. My husband's ideas were "a cut on a mutt" or "a stitch on a bitch" or "a drain on a pain" - I guess he's just more clever than me!

I arrived back home early this morning. I spent the last three weeks on the island of Kauai (with a side trip the Big Island) for work. Yes, it was a tropical paradise. Yes, it was nice to get away from the all the crappy weather Virginia has had in the last few weeks. However, after making eight trips to Hawaii since I accepted my current job three years ago, it does lose it's luster after a while so YES it is great to be back home!!!!

I called Tracy just before leaving for the airport yesterday and he told me he was on his way back from taking Puddin Pop to the vet. He didn't see what happened, but he let them out just after noon yesterday and when she came back in she was very frightened and not acting like herself. He tried to pet her and she ran away...not at all like our friendly, loving girl. Then he saw it, she had a gash on her side and the skin was torn off. Since our usual vet closed at 1200 and he could not get an answer on their emergency line, he ended up taking her to a new place. Here is the aftermath - she had to get stitches and a drain tube.

Local anesthesia wasn't doing the trick, so they had to put her under a bit which means that all three of the kids have now successfully made it through anesthesia since we've had them (only ONE, Macy, by choice). Needless to say, knowing that my baby was hurt made me want to get home even faster. Tracy was worried about her yesterday and said she would not lay down. She stood up to the point of exhaustion and almost collapsed a few times before he could get her calmed down and resting. She wasn't drinking or eating anything either. Thankfully, today she is back to herself! She happily greeted me at the door this morning and is eating, drinking, and taking her meds well. She's resting now, but since she's been feeling better and better throughout the day she's started licking the stitches so she has her muzzle/muzzle cap on now. I will take her back on Tuesday for a checkup and to get the drain tube removed.

By the way, we suspect that she was running full speed around the deck and cut the corner too close. She and Buford both like to do that! Tracy rounded off the corner after it caught Buford shortly after we put the deck up last year. Buford screamed like he was going to die on the spot, but he just had a small scrape, nothing serious. I guess now we'll be padding all of the corners!
