University Orientation

So today i went with m6awa3 and terkait to an orientation seminar for the freshmen student of Kuwait university... it was stupid and more like lectures than anything else, i just didnt like it. I'm hopeful that my orientation next october in my university will feel better..
I read in their site that the percentage of (minorities such as hispanics, african-americans and international students) is a humble 37%. Since when international students are considered a minority?
Anyway, my time to go there is coming closer- and for some weird reason my visa-appointment date with the american embassy will be on Sept.11, 2004! like there wasn't any other date :/ but yalla whtever.

FW: 2 men and 1 woman

This is a joke I got from a friend by e-mail:

A ship sank in high seas and the following people got stranded on a beautiful deserted island in the middle of nowhere:
A. 2 Italian men and 1 Italian woman
B. 2 French men and 1 French woman
C. 2 German men and 1 German woman
D. 2 Greek men and 1 Greek woman
E. 2 Polish men and 1 Polish woman
F. 2 Mexican men and 1 Mexican woman
G. 2 Indian men and 1 Indian woman
H. 2 Arabic men and 1 Arabic woman

One month later, on various parts of the island, the following was observed:
*One Italian man killed the other Italian man for the Italian woman.
*The two French men and the French woman! are living happily together.
*The two German men have a strict weekly schedule of when they alternate with the German woman.
* The two Greek men are sleeping together, and the Greek woman is cooking & cleaning for them.
* The two Polish men took a long look at the endless ocean and a long look at the Polish woman, and they started swimming.
* The two Mexican men are talking to all the other men on the island trying to sell them the Mexican woman.......
* The 2 Indian men are still waiting for someone to introduce them to the Indian woman
* The 2 Arabic men are looking for a piece of paper so they can throw their mobile number at the Arabic woman.

Driving

Things kept me a little busy the last few days. First I went with a friend to his family's farm in Chabd, It was really relaxing to lie under all those bright stars at night after spending a full day of swimming and jumping on a trampoline, and finally having a BBQ.

One day after returning to the city my brother, my friend and I all joined a gym in Salmiya. By this day 8 more of our friends had joined so it's becoming the new hangout. I began to lift weights, which is something I hadn't imagined myself doing because I have always despised this activity for some weird reason.

And, I finally got my driving lisence! Of course i didn't do much to improve my driving, but thanks to wasta it all went OK. I hate the fact that I succumbed to the wasta eventually but apparently this is how it had to work. Anyway I've been driving around for a couple of days and I'm enjoying it.

Karaoke

♫♪♫...

What brings up the subject is the comment of my friend "Gigi - a.k.a Luigi" on one of my posts. In Korea we were on a bus for long periods so some of us would go up front and sing into the bus's microphone. Sayed and i sang some local kuwaiti song, and then Gigi sang an italian song.

It's amusing to see people go uninhibited. It takes courage to sing out loud in a microphone. Ruby Tuesday's, the restaurant on Gulf Road, organizes a karaoke night each saturday night and it's worth a visit, at least for the laugh.

did i mention that it was really exciting to read your comments, gigi and maryam? thanx alot guys and pass here every once in a while.. :)

Failure

I failed in my driving test yesterday. Apparently i wasn't good enough in parking the car between two barriers. But this is not fair, i trained very hard for this skill in particular. If it wasn't for the long time between finishing my training and the test i would've certainly passed.

Korea

It has been little over 2 weeks since I came back from Korea. I was there with the Kuwaiti team participating in the Intl Physics Olympics. Our team didn't do so well because our training lasted for less than two weeks before the event and it was rushed.
But apart from the test, the 10 days I spent there were very eventful. It showed us a face we never knew about Korea, in fact I myself didn't know of any face to begin with!

Everything had at least a small different detail; the food specifically was unusual for me.. When i came back home i was 5 Kg less in weight. This should be an implication of how much I liked the food. Other than that everything was great: we made amazing friends with people from many countries in the world, and below is a list to remind myself of them in the future.
