Goodbye Uncle Lowell
Today was my Uncle Lowell's funeral. This is my 4th uncle that has passed away in 4 years. My heart aches for my aunt Elaine. I hate cancer! He battled cancer of the appendix (very rare) for about 18 months. I didn't get to know him very well until the last 3 to 4 years, but I am so glad that I did. He was such a nice person and always acted genuinely interested in you and your life. He loved to garden and had the most beautiful yard. He loved just to talk about flowers! He talked to James and I about England and what plants and flowers grew well there. It was one of his passions. He also was a collector and loved to collect trains. I remember as a little kid being so fascinated with his huge train table. He served as a mission president and opened the Moscow Russia south mission. He was only 45 when he was called. He packed a lot into his 62 years here on earth. He had so many talents and amazing abilities. The world was a better place because he was in it. We will miss you Uncle Lowell!
June Activities
We took the boys to the Lehi Roundup Rodeo last Friday and they had a blast! Snowcones, bullriding, and dirt bike riders doing backflips kept us all entertained.
These were the guys riding a horse like a bull. Not sure what they call it.
James took a bike trip with a friend from work and some of his buddies. They stayed at Zermatt in Midway and biked around Heber valley girls camp. He led the pack climbing the hill and had the oldest, heaviest bike there! Who needs a 5,000 dollar bike anyway? He had a great time. This is his view from his GoPro cam on the climb up the hill.
We have had so much fun at Teresa and Gary's pool this summer. We go to the Scera movie first, after grab some lunch, then head over there to relax in the pool for the afternoon. It is so nice! Carter is now tall enough to touch the bottom so doesn't need a lifejacket. He loves to do flips and try to float.
Claire loves the pool too and stayed in for a good 2 hours. She was a little diva with her pink zebra sunglasses too. She kept them on for a good half hour! Auntie Meg had fun playing with her in the pool.
Claire doesn't last long during the movie so I am usually out in the lobby hanging out. We were running out of ideas to keep her happy, so we took some photos. This day Preston was also out in the lobby because he had lost his sunglasses in the theater. He came out to tell me and never went back in. I guess Nanny McPhee returns wasn't exciting enough for him.

What we've been up to
Man, that was a marathon blog posting job! James is on a bike trip with his work buddy and some other guys so I am getting it all caught up! We have had quite the busy summer already! Carter just learned to ride his bike a few days ago and has been obsessed with riding all day long. We bought him a new bike since his spiderman bike was constantly breaking and was way too heavy for him to learn on. We only had to work with him a few times around and he had it with his new bike. I am so proud of him!
Whenever we are in our backyard we would see this bird with a worm in it's mouth. We decided to keep watching it and figured out it was bringing food to it's babies that were nesting in our tree! Whenever we were outside it would fly to our neighbors roof to keep watch on the babies. They were big and we even got to watch them do some flying lessons. So interesting.
I finally got some flowers planted and the flower bed weeded! My iris that I planted last year has tripled in size and is flowering these beautiful dark purple blossoms.
I also got a Heather plant (for obvious reasons), and some orange lilies. They have already blossomed and are so colorful! I love flowers!
Our strawberries are still growing and we got our vegetable patch weeded-which was a huge job. Since I had Claire last year I did no gardening and just let it get pretty bad. It took forever to get it all weeded! I won't make that mistake again! We planted 5 tomato plants, 2 zucchini, 1 yellow squash, and one green pepper plant. I am so excited to reap the yummy veggies later this summer! So if you have been wondering why it took me so long to update, this is what we have been up to! Busy, busy, busy!!

Seven Peaks
It was Stacey's last day with us so we had to end with something fun. Seven Peaks! We bought the "pass of all passes" for our family for the year so we will enjoy seven peaks and trafalga lots more this summer! It was packed and the line to buy our pass took forever, but we eventually got there! This picture is me trying to get Claire to smile at the camera. Obviously didn't help.
Carter fell asleep in the car on the way home and we could NOT wake him up to eat dinner. He fell asleep for the rest of the night! I think we need another Seven Peaks day soon! It was fun having Stacey come and visit again. We packed a lot into ten days! Man, I am ready to relax! We did lots of fun things to kick off the summer.

Sundance,Planet Play, and other activities
I had to take Stacey to some of the landmarks around here! First of all, the Lehi Roller Mills where Footloose was taped. She recently has started watching that movie classic.
The next day I took her up to beautiful Sundance resort. It is home to the famous Sundance film festival (well that and park city). We rode the tram and enjoyed the amazing views!
The next day the weather was rainy so we took the boys to Planet Play. It has a pizza buffet and also lots arcade games, mini golf, go karts, and lazer tag. We only had them play arcades but it was pretty entertaining!
This was a virtual reality ride where you feel like you are on a coal car going through a mine. Stacey was laughing so hard at Preston who was making noises like he was going to die the whole time.
We had lots of fun jumping on the tramp with everyone-Claire included.
Then it was off for a bike ride. James scored a nice used mountain bike from our neighbors who are moving to Japan. Perfect timing for bike rides this summer!
James was supposed to take Stacey to tepanyaki but with mowing the grass and the bike ride his allergies were crazy. They twisted my arm to go instead. ;) Our chef was so funny and way more animated than any of the other ones there. I of course made him give Stacey a hard time. The food was fantastic as usual. Lots of fun stuff!

Hogle Zoo and Smores
After a day off on Monday, Tuesday we took Stacey to the Hogle Zoo. They have all new dinosaurs all over the zoo. They look very life like and Preston was a little cautious to take a picture by this triceratops. I love that the boys are holding hands. That wasn't even staged! Precious.
Claire did great in the stroller. She was pretty co ntent most of the time. She adorable, I know.
Carter threw the biggest fit about getting a picture by this dinosaur. We had already walked past it and he insisted we go back and get a picture by it. Okay! Whatever!
The boys love the water ball in the entrance of the zoo. They could stay and play with it for hours.
We were in the gift shop and they were having way too much fun with the masks.
This dinosaur and it's baby spit water at you! Creepy! Preston was terrified of it and refused to take a picture in front of it.
Lucky boys even got a ride on the carousel. Carter chose the "bison" and Preston got the baboon. Carter later regretted his choice and wished he had picked the eagle. Next time Carter, next time.
The T-Rex eating Carter! This picture was his idea. He's creative like his dad.
When we got home we had some dinner and then it was time for s'mores! We just got this little fire pit and were excited to use it. We have used a few times since this and it is so fun as an evening activity to relax on the back deck.
They don't have graham crackers in England so s'mores are an American delicacy. haha I even bought extra large marshmallows. I actually prefer the regular size, these got a little messy.
Preston was saying something about a marshmallow in a joke to Stacey. It was a fun day!
