Slacking away
Saturday, April 10, 2010

Sitting at Starbucks in Vivo City. Drinking a cup of hot chocolate. Never really like the hot chocolate here, still prefers the one at McCafe. =]

Listening to the Mama2be(s) conversation and it doesn't really interest me now because I'm not going to be a mummy any time soon. But life is really interesting by listening how the little babies are formed and the moment to give birth is getting closer. That's for Christine (due in June). Erica is the new mama to be!

Sorry that I missed out the gathering with my beloved classmates! Was too tired and wanted to take an hour rest and turns out I fell aslp till 7plus and dear dear have to force me wake up and go dinner with him and Gavin and co. And dinner isn't nice at all. But April is really a good month because of the incentives and salary increment.

- what a lovely day!

Painting Day
Friday, April 02, 2010

It's really tiring to paint a room with just the two of us. What's important is both of us enjoyed the process. I woke up as early as 9a.m to wake him up but by the time he nuah on the bed (he complain he didn't have enough sleep because he went drinking with his new colleagues, stone in the kitchen for 2 hours before heading to bed which is about 3plus in the morning!!), it's already 10a.m then we went for our breakfast. (And he still dare to complain that he NEVER had any breakfast with me??) Anyways, after breakfast we went to some of the stuffs (the sticks, the putty for the mending the holes, cracks) and proceeded back to his house and start the painting day! It's a lot of moving things. Holes to mend with wall putty. Which can be found in those D.I.Y stores. After filling up the holes and cracks, we finally get down to the REAL work. Painting the walls with white paint, and then pink and purple for the walls. So girly hor? But it makes me so happy!!

It's really a day of hard work. And this is what we have done to his room! Aren't we proud? HEHE. Now, we are just waiting for the new bed to arrive tomorrow! =]

A day at NP
Thursday, April 01, 2010

Took half day today to accompany my lil' sister to NP to install some programs to her MBP. I was late because I accompanied Guan Kun for lunch since he's alone (Uncle Jeremy took half day, Arene went to Toa Payoh and Catherine is having lunch with her dept.). And my silly sister was standing at the control station waiting for me with her heavy bag. Silly or not? Nevertheless, we went to NP for lunch because it's been 97450293850397 since I stepped into NP. LOL. NP really change a lot. Perhaps to catch up with the fanciful building structure these days.

After lunch, we decided to head to the IT support center earlier because we don't have to go there exactly at 4p.m right? Haha, and the installation only took less tha 15 minutes! Fast or not? These days, technology are really improving so fast that I find it hard to catch up. After the installation, we went to blk 1 to use her MBP, surf Garfield and Facebook. LOL. Anyways, we head back to Clementi because I am supposed to meet Dear dear at Bugis to go and buy paint for tomorrow's painting session.

We are going to paint his room! Because his current room color is fading. AND, so boring. Plus, our new bed is coming on Saturday! OH OH!! And our new stocks for the online store is coming on Saturday too! Can you imagine how busy we are realy are this weekend? Please do give us your support once the website is up. ;)

We have decide on 3 colors to paint. I will show u the FINAL work after the hard work tml! So excited! And, Dear Dear went out drinking with his new colleagues. Leaving me and Chou Chou and Stitch! Shall sleep early tonight because I need to wake up early tomorrow. Good night world!!

Swensens!
Monday, March 29, 2010

We went to our church service, finally, after a few weeks of not able to wake up. The sermon is good. And after that we went to meet Alan and Christine for dinner. We went to Pizza Hut (Suntec City) for dinner and the service was really bad enough. Christine ordered a full meal and only the soup and drink came. After waiting for quite some time we checked on the orders to realized that have left out her order. Feeling angry christine asked how long will it take for her food to be served, the waiter told her 5 minutes. And after quite sometime the food was still not served, christine told the same waiter that she wants to cancle the order, not only that he did not rush the order, he even asked us if we want the bill! So horrible right? And Christine stomped out of the restaurant. So we head to swensens for desserts! Not too bad as the food was served promptly..

Christine's. =] she's so happy eating this. And dear dear was like "if I know earlier, I'll order this one".. He just wanna eat lah!

My dessert! I gave up after eating this half way. Hahaha.

Alan and dear dear took the same stuffs. And dear dear does have a sweet tooth for such desserts! Gosh. No wonder... He's.. Getting... Errrmmmhemmmm...

After that, we head to OG to get new bedsheets and quilt covers for our room! Reallt thank Christine for her help! Without her, I think we will have so much trouble looking for cheap and nice bedsheets. Hehe. This is gonna be a very busy week for us too! So exciting to start painting this week! Wooohooo!!

- what a lovely day!

ROM Planning
Friday, March 26, 2010

You know planning for ROM can be quite a hussle, especially when you don't know anything about it. ROM knows you, but we don't really know it.

Getting married, to even think about it can be quite scary at times. Because it would mean that you are stuck with the person for LIFE.

Proposing to your girlfriend might be an easy task. Whether she rejects or accept, that's your fate. Accept it and try harder next time (that is if she rejects you). Of course, almost every single girl would say "YES" instead of "NO", unless....

- Proposal is not romantic enough
- Diamond not BLING enough
- Not sincere enough

and many more that I can't think of right now.

Anyways, back to where I left. I was talking about preparing for ROM. You know, we wanted something special and yet we are quite budget. Anything above $2K is a struggle for us. Reason being, he just changed job and I am not earning as much.

There is many coordination work to be done. Like..

- Because we want a church solemnization, we have to find out more about the procedure. Whether we need to file our marriage with ROM directly first or thru the church first. And if the church will help us file our marriage with ROM or after the church solemnization, we need to file the marriage with ROM ourselves. Many uncertainities.

- We want to hold our solemnization OUT of the ROM. So we have to source the place ourselves.

We decided that I want to have a OPEN CONCEPT for the solemnization. More romantic mah. And I can see the burning sun instead of the moon and the stars. Because we intended to hold our solemnization in the afternoon. Most likely for Hi-Tea. Because lunch would be quite not within our budget. So we ditched the idea and chose indoor. Because Dearest is prone to perspiring, but we maintain the idea of having flowers or trees. Preferably choosing a garden for a wedding.

And of course, things are not so smooth sailing.

- I called many places like the Fullerton, Forlino (too expensive and a friend of mine told me that the service sucks and the food isn't really that good). There is a minimum spending amount of $5K to have the main dining area. I am talking about JUST the MAIN DINING area not the whole place. But the place with the view is DAMN CHIO ok? And I read from XX's blog it's actually not as bad as the things my friend told me.
From Drop Box

- I called Scarlet Hotel. The place is really nice (on pictures). The food is really unique (unlike the normal buffet where you just eat SANDWICHES and whatsoever from the menu they sent me). But it's a little pricey. There is a minimum spending about $3K. But they do throw in a night stay at the hotel. Which is quite cool. But still, it's not within our budget, so we ditched that idea. BUT, super chio right??
From Drop Box

- I previously read from wedding forum about Gallery Hotel, and from the website I thought that would be a great place to hold our ROM there. So I dropped them an email a few weeks ago. But I haven't gotten any replies from them. I supposed they are not keen to do my business huh? So we were talking to Alan and Christine, then we realized Christine's dad works in Gallery Hotel. I thought what a coincidence! And they were talking about how great the food was. I was attracted. So Christine called her dad on our behalf, got the number of the person in charge of banquet. And so Christine told us she will help us 'pull string' first before getting the person to call us. I thought, what a great idea! So the person called me on Monday. I was really happy. But to think again, they do not do anything about my email. So what's the big deal about them calling me? I called Gallery Hotel. The person whom I have been alias with, Juliana, was not feeling well. And it's so hard for me to make an appointment with them because they have to attend this function, that function. Noone seems to have time for us. So after we viewed the place.. I decided that I don't like it. Because the function room they showed us has an OPEN CEILING.. Which means I can see the piping and everything! I am not going to pay a little more money to see all these unsightly things.
From Drop Box

- We made an appointment with Kelvin, Fort Canning. Cause we thought that's one of the coolest place to have our Solemnization there. With the trees and birds. But some friends commented that it's the night scenery that's captivating. And what's more, it's really burning HOT during the afternoon. And the thing was, we can't seems to make it for the appointment. It's either we overslept or it's raining too heavily and we find it too inconvenient to go there. So, we decided that Fort Canning is not the place for us because it's not too convenient also.

- I emailed Mandai Orchid Garden a few weeks ago and I just gotten their replies. I thought it would be really romantic to held our ROM there. Cool isn't it? But, dear dear say it's too expensive and not PRACTICAL. TMD loh. I wanted to say, PLANNING for a ROMANTIC WEDDING is NOT practical at all. He say he can be practically romantic. Pui. I was so upset by his comments when I merely showed him the prices. By then, we have already choosen THE PLACE.

FINALLY,

We found somewhere that both of us agreed it really nice. It was a random walk in by chance when Dear Dear went to the washroom. It looked quite ordinary to him, but to me.. this place caught my attention when I passed by. We had our dinner there as 'food tasting' (of course we paid for that!) and the food was fantastic! With the nice and friendly servers, and nice owners. Everything about that place is really nice and cosy. And reading the reviews of the restaurant is really pleasant. It's not easy to really source for a place with our budget. At least not in the hotel. Hotel really charge quite a bit more, and sometimes their food might not be nice. Worse still is that person remain uncontactable. That's what I am afraid of. So we spoke to the co-owner of the restaurant, he could help us plan within our budget and I really appreciate that. Afterall, wedding is ONCE IN A LIFETIME thing. I want to plan it as good as possible. I have gotten some sources that I can look around for wedding door gifts, or some flowers for the place with the recommendation of a vendor in PSB Academy. At least, this is somewhere me and Dear Dear experienced their service and food personally. If you go there, you will agree with me too.

I was quite upset that Dear Dear has never asked me about the "What I Want" for my ROM dinner. He just took it for granted that the restaurant will do it for us. But unless I am there to oversee everything, otherwise I don't feel quite safe. When I told him I want to place some flowers, he said that the place will provide and we shouldn't spend money UNNECESSARY. Damn upset can? But after ironing things out, I think everything will turn out for a better. :)

ROM place, settled!
Thursday, March 25, 2010

There is 101 reasons to be HAPPY! Ok, I am just being exaggerated. =P Just one reason leading to another makes me HAPPY!

First, we found a cosy place to hold our ROM (I am not going to disclose the place until further confirmation with the place). The food is fabulous! Trust me, you will agree that the food is nice! I love the place flexibility! We can have dishes that's NOT in the menu! YES! NOT IN THE MENU! How cool can it be? And it's not a hotel. Hotel don't usually serve nice food. Not the unique ones. I will make sure every single guest of ours will be satisfy with the food served.

Second, the price they offered are far too reasonable! They are charging us at NETT price! With about 5 courses, free flow of soft drinks + JUICES. Mind you, hotel only got free flow of soft drinks (excluding juices). And I tell you, it's a MUST to try the CAKES! I called a few places to enquire about the price for approximately 40 pax, and it's somehow not within our budget. So.. I am really happy to have found this place.

Third, ALL of my GFS and BFS are coming! And this really makes me the happiest girl on earth! Heck care the stupid trainer who insisted that I gave him the wrong key box when he was the one helping himself. LOL. HAPPY HAPPY! LA LA LA~~~ Oh yes, only left Rebecca's bf who hasn't reply me. =]
