I was surfing though the internet and i have found lots of corporations blogs. What I think the corporations are trying to do is to create a more personalized tone to the consumers, And perhaps make them feel more "at home" and at the same time update them on the events/products that the organization is organizing.
My guess is that how our brain works, most of us would rather communicated with someone in a more intimate tone than talk to one with a business, professional-like tone. Crazy as some of you might thick this idea is, corporations that adapted the idea of company blogs are seeing an increase in sales, as people are willing to stay and read on the vents and products that the company is releasing. One of such example is the company intel:
Http://blogs.intel.comI personally find it a pain to read and blogs on my computer, my mind often wanders off at the sight of long daunting passages. The words on the screen hurts my eyes. So although the idea is quite far fetched, but maybe newspapers could post the company's' blogs new entries in the newspaper and have a section dedicated entirely to them. That way, not only the IT savvy but traditional "hard copy" readers would also have an idea of what is going on.
Another surprising fact is that even institutions are adopting blogs as a way to update students on the events that going around internally and externally. Smart move, blogs are most popular around youngsters and a blog is a good way to get them updated. An example is the Harvard law school's blog:
http://blogs.law.harvard.edu/corpgov/I received a reply from the MNC called "Honeywell" and that they stated that websites such as friendster and facebook are blocked off from the server as the company cannot afford to let worker use their working time on non work-related activities. When asked about the benefits that such websites might bring to the company they replied by saying that the company has confidence in their own way of promoting thier own products and compnay.
So perhaps as of this moment new media may not be for everyone.

My Boss Blogs!Yes, as the title of this post says, bosses DO Blog!
it may sound weird but a corporation blog
does help a company increase it's "team spirit" among
workers.
According to a my close friend who has
one of those rumored blogging bosses,
It is easy to know what the boss
expects of you and very much easier to get ideas
and suggestion across via the bosses blog.
A blog gives a more 'imitate'
feeling to the reader and makes the worker feel more
at level with their boss.
Perhaps this is another way companies can make
their workers feel more "at home" and maybe even increase
productivity.

Horrors at work!Hello everyone! Recently I went to work at a particular MNC
and found out that the company has banned all access to popular
websites such as facebook and friendster! Many of us IT natives
would commit harakiri at the thought of that.
But why are MNCs nowadays resorting to such drastic measures?
Should we sue the MNCs and force the government of Singapore to
pass a bill to allow such websites?
Well, of course not! Thats why I have sent emails to some MNCs corporations
to question them on this matter.
