Anyway, a few pointers to take note for this week:
Noise Singapore talk Apparently only 3 of us signed up for this talk. It would be held this Sat at 2pm, so meet at Somerset MRT by 1:40pm. For the rest, there will be no official activities this weekend.
Singapore F1 A big thanks to everyone who have helped out in getting the pictures despite your exam schedules. (namely Jos, Damien & Ouyang). Pictures should be published in this Friday's 镜看.
Chalet What: Annual SYD chalet, where we will get together for some fun, as well as share our photographic experiences. When: Tentatively 12th to 14th Dec. (stay over is optional) Where: NTU hostel (jeffery and janson's room). We are still trying to ask for more space from other TXY living in NTU haha.
Everyone please REPLY to let me know whether you can make it for the chalet. If not, please state which date you would be free and we'll see how we can accommodate everyone. Even if you think you are not at all interested in this chalet, at least let me know. For a discussion of what activities to expect, please visit the forum . Ideas and contributions are welcome, so please post suggestions if you have any.

There are 2 main points to update everyone this week.
Point 1: F1 race from 26th to 28th Sept
Those who are free this weekend are strongly encouraged to go and try to get some shots of the races. We do not have tickets, but after some walkabout in the area we have spotted some areas where one can see the track without paying. Interested members can ask me over at the forum on the spots. Pictures will be used in a full page photo article in Friday Weekly the week after. We already have simulator/exhibition pics, so wad we lack are the race day ones. One can shoot the spectators as well as the F1 cars, (if got grid girls all the better ;P) to depict the hype of the event.
Point 2: SYD end of year Chalet: POSTING IS MANDATORY to indicate preliminary attendance
The chalet will be held between 1st Dec to 18th Dec. Please post in the thread over at the forum on whether you will be free to attend, or when would be the ideal time for you. Do note that TXY internal camp is from 20th to 23rd Dec, so that whole week is out, ditto the Christmas period due to higher chalet prices and many people having their own family activities.
There will be no session this weekend, owing to the fact that we are having multiple tests from Saturday onwards.

NUS students are having mid term break so we should be having some unofficial walkabout shoot somewhere next week (tentatively monday afternoon). If you are keen to join just let us know =D
Translation: Water Taxis around the Singapore Flyer will be available FOC from 23rd to 28th Sept. Taxi ferries visitors between Clarke Quay and the Flyer. Ferrying times are from 10am to 11pm.

Although it is not a must to cover everything, I guess it'll be good to obtain a variety of shots. Which ones would you like to cover?
There are no plans for activities this weekend, in light of most members having exams. But there are still a few announcements to make:
Point 1 - Mooncake pictures Those who have shot nice mooncake pictures, please do send them to me by this thursday. Resize to within 1800px will do. If you have Mid-Autumn related pictures can also feel free to send. I need them for this coming huixun.
Point 2 - F1 season - coverage needed I'm sure uall are aware of the Singapore GP coming up from 25th to 28th Sept (next weekend). I've received word from the editor that we will require F1 related pictures to fill up a page of Friday Weekly. We will need pictures like car races (if possible), spectators, carnivals etc. I've requested for a list of events, so I will keep everyone updated ASAP. Meanwhile, please POST ON THIS THREAD to state your availability for this 2 weeks. This is to facilitate assignment dispatch just in case any last minute assignments crop up. It will be great if u can indicate on the other thread to give us a rough idea of weekly schedule, so we can better allocate assignments and plan activities.
Most of our school going members are having exams this week, while the others are busy preparing for it. Members in Uni are not spared as well, as we are bored down by endless tutorials and projects. We will not be having any official activities this weekend. But what if your index finger just wants a shutter to release? Read on...
POPlens needs your contribution
We submitted zero poplens for the whole of work-year 07/08. Not something very desirable, although this can be attributed partly to the lack of publishing space. We have pledged to produce 3 this year.
To members unaware of what POPlens is about, it is essentially a section in 联合早报 Popcorn section in which we get to publish our own photo essays. Which means a set of photographs on the same theme, with a little description on what is it about. Topics can be wide ranging, from a collection of lamp-posts to pictures on HDB flats. Photos can come from an individual, or together as a group.
Right now we already have 3 topics approved, but may/may not be ideal topics. So we are still sourcing for more. Join in the discussion over at the FORUM. Any queries regarding this can also be brought up there.
Mid-Autumn Festival
The Moon cake moment is here again! I'm sure everyone would have at least bought a set or 2. Before you start devouring the delicacy, spend some time appreciating the intricate designs with your camera. Yes, I mean take photos! The 哈哈镜 section for the upcoming Huixun will be featuring moon-cakes, so do send me some photos of those sweet little delicacies you get to eat.
In addition, do spare some effort observing and photographing the activities pertaining to Mid autumn festival, like playing with candles/sparkles, strolling with lanterns etc.

Mid Autumn Festival
Ok i'm not referring to the mooncake festival gathering, but the actual festival itself. I'm sure many of you are already eating those delicacies. Anyway, I hope that we could gather some photographs of activities pertaining to mooncake festival (the food, the celebration, the lanterns, maybe the moon).
This will be very useful as I forsee the need to use them for articles in FW or Huixun.

Banjiang has ended. SYD sadly wasn't awarded the 最佳组别 award. This might not be surprising given the fact that we did no poplens for the whole year. Of course there may be some other factors, we will investigate and make sure we get back that title next Aug.
By the way, this blog will be our main NOTICE board. I will try to update any information by EVERY TUESDAY. So do read this blog at least once a week. I will also be contacting individuals for any updates of your contact info. Emails will be sent with regards to this. We will only be calling those who do not reply to emails, and expect to hear and earful if you get our call. IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO CHECK YOUR MAILBOX.
With regards to upcoming activities, there is the Mooncake festival gathering at SPH auditorium on this sunday, 7th of September 2008. Timing is 7-9pm. Activities is mainly eating and socialising with alumni members. Free admission of course. Attendance is encouraged, although not compulsory. Do give a reason if you are not attending. Confirm your attendance by tomorrow (020908) night please.
