Name: Sports, The Natural You Date
Qing Xiang: Basketball, Emo 12 Jul
Kelvin + Xiaomo: Basketball, Dance 28 Jun
Jing Yang: Tennis, my K-life 5 Jul
Yong Quan: Gym, books-related 28 Jun
Yu Neng: City Running, Nerdy Me 12 Jul
Tang Jie: City Running , I want to be crazy 12 Jul
Thus, we will be shooting the duo pair and Yong Quan this Saturday!
We will start at 4.30 at SPH this sat~! For more details, you can come and ask me:)

Hey folks, SYD is invited to cover an event.
WAFF: The Carnival is a charity carnival organised by the NUS University Scholars Programme (USP) Volunteer Project Team, in aid of Operation Smile Singapore to help children with cleft lip and palate. It will be held on 13 July at *scape Youth Park (Orchard Road), 11am to 9pm.
Yup, basically it is a funfair with performances and various game/food/souvenir stores to visit.
The organizers has agreed to furbish us with coupons as thanks.
Everyone is encouraged to go cos:
1) low stress event coverage assignment, gain experience too! (=
2) It's fun! Part play, part work, with lots of coupons to pamper oneself. (=
Well, do reply if you are able to attend, or if not the entire day which timings. (:

Hey all!
Qiang Mai Finals is happening on the 19th of July in about 4 weeks time... So what does this mean? There is another portriats session!
The QM comm requires SYD to shoot 2 themes~
1. Sports with Style
2. The Natural You
For Sports with Style, we have asked asked the contestants to pick a sports of their choice and we will be starting to shoot this Saturday! Currently, we have Tennis, Basketball and City Running being chosen:)
For The Natural You, I am still confirming and compiling the themes that the contestants want to do~
We will shooting on Saturdays for the next 3 weeks till QM Finals to complete this~! So everyone please get geared up for this~!
Also, please give suggestions either direct to me or on the tagboard!
I will posting the sports and themes by latest Wednesday!
Lastly, all juniors are encouraged to shoot the portriats especially for The Natural You~! We dun need fanciful lighting, we onli need your creativity! Darwis, time for you to 出山了！

Sharing some of the better frames we managed to process. Sad that they were scanned from the photographs and not from the film... so bit depth and resolution are far worse... and details are lost in the attempt at removing the paper texture.

The follow-up darkroom lesson will be on this saturday (140608) at NUS. We will be meeting at CLEMENTI MRT at 9.30am SHARP. Those who came for the earlier session will have their film roll(s) developed and a few photos, printed. We will be ending at around 4.30pm.
For those who are going, please reply to this email or sms to me at 97533580 ASAP, indicating any special arrangements (meeting directly at NUS / will be late, etc) :) .

Film shoot cum BBQ session

I believe for many of us, this is the first time shooting film rather seriously. And because of the 30cents per frame running cost, we ended up making very few exposures. Partly also because most of the cameras used had no AF, and some no AE. Heck... lets see how many frames were exposed and focussed correctly.
Above are the film cams we used.
Going gaga over toddlers. I guess they are much easier subjects than say... grumpy old men.
I'd like to see how many frames of this airborn toddler are in focus.
BBQ. After going through all the trouble of preparation/cooking/sweating/cleaning, maybe we should poll and see if everyone still thinks this is the best method for celebrating/welfare.
Fengcong our cook. Not so creamy bokeh... i think.
4 位小妹妹 with their radiant smiles =) We have a lot more feminism in SYD now.
Ageing members left high and dry, and Ms Zijie being an outcaste?
Our alumni member accidentally framed by Fengcong's dunno where.Hope everyone had a great time this welfare session, and thanks Ouyang and Huiching (and many others) for organising this BBQ, and Renyuan's group for the film shoot.
