Whoooo's that

It might be cold, but it hasn't stopped us from venturing outside!  And any opportunity Emmy gets to wear her new owl hat is always a bonus! Can't wait to get a few photos of her and Bailey in their matching hats!

Want one...my sweet friend makes them.

Check her out here  (perfect for Christmas)

lumber

Yeah for lumber!  These guys are working hard to get trusses up by next Thursday.  It's so exciting to go see the progress each day.  Can't wait till we can walk around upstairs and "imagine" what things will look like!

So here's part of the basement...not quite all framed in yet

A view from the back of the house.  The guys are putting on floors and see my "nook" hanging over the edge there...that's for my kitchen table area:)

Brian has been working real hard too, his latest project was the fabulous retaining walls for the patio area.

Loving the progress!  I lay in bed at night and decorate it in my head!

remembering warmer days

Since we woke up to snow this morning (ugh), I thought I'd post about the warmer days.  A few weeks ago we headed to great gram and gramp D's house and tried to help relieve their apple tree of some delicious fruit.  Over an hour later, we didn't even make a dent!

All the kids had a great time taking bites out of apples here and there.  I think there were more apples with bites missing from little kiddo's than there were apples that had been bitten by birds or worms!

These are the "private stash" apples.  When we'd come across a perfect apple they were handled with care and placed in a very special spot.  Look how red and shiney!  YUMMM

We ended up with 4 boxes and 2 buckets of apples and like I said, plenty more were left for the pickings. We made apple pie filling with a box...now what to do with the rest?

play time

Emmy has been climbing into Bailey's crib lately.  I guess it's an accomplishment? Regardless, it's actually quite nice to have a spot I can "corral" both kiddo's while I make my bed and do a little bedroom cleaning!

I just love watching these two play together!

P.S.

I hope everyone had a
Happy Halloween!

slowly but surely...

Well, it's coming along.  We know there will be a house on this lot sooner or later!  We live just a few blocks away from our lot right now so the girls and I drive by often to check out the latest happenings.

When Brian's working on the house we pack blankets and coats and use it as an excuse to get out of the house.  Sometimes my sis-in-law and her kids will join us and all the little ones play in the dirt!  It's one giant sandbox!  YEAH!!

Yup, that's dirt in Emmy's hair...

Here's our "hole"

And now here's our walls for the basement!  Hurray!!!  It actually looks like a house, well, part of a house.

This is the front

And this is the back

Brain and his dad have been working SUPER HARD backfilling and moving dirt around.  Emmy loves it when her dad lets her "help" and ride with him in the machines!

It looks different since these photos but I'll get those up in a bit.  Now we are just crossing our fingers Mother Nature will cooperate and let us poor the cement in our garage and the basement floor so we can start framing next week!  I can't wait for that part!

Anway, just a little update.  Projected finish date...February 14th!  Now wouldn't that be a great Valentine's Day gift!
