Psyched

The progress of our cocoon, so far.

The structure looks different, now that the 5th storey is always completed. The outlook is starting to take shape and we are pleased by what we see.

Mr Gill seems to be inspired by the latest visit as we found ourselves asking for brochures from an ID shop AND we ended up at Sim Siang Choon HQ looking at bath tubs.

I seriously need to get started on the scrapbook for the pictures which we have collected before my rusty brains lose the idea.

An example of how we can utilize the tiny space we call main bedroom - park the wardrobe right behind the bed to create a walkway at the back. This looks fine but I have a feeling that having a bed this near the wall will not allow us to have a 46".

This is something that both of us are aiming for - see-through bathroom. Too bad that HDB does not allow hacking of toilet wall within 3 years from completion date.

Guess we should start scrimping and scraping for the coming years in order to afford what we want. Ahhh~~

Progress

We visited our favourite spot of the year - Boon Tiong Road Multistorey Carpark, just to have a quick check on the progress of our future "Pothole".

How pleased were we to find out that they are on to the 4th storey already. 2 months for 4 storeys will mean 20 months for 40 storeys! Less than 2 years away!

I do not think I have to explain why we call it the "Pothole" - because of its size, of course. The units on our left and right are the 4-room units and look at how tiny our unit looks.

Oh well, at least we will be cosy. Heh!

Indecision

Now that the excitement has settled down, I am once again plagued by the same questions. What happens when we have kids in the future? Can a 3-room flat contain all of us? Or do we settle for only one kid?

Not only do I have to put up with those bugging thoughts, I now have a mild irritation by the floor plan.

First of all, I am annoyed by the fact that the toilet door is directly behind the bedroom door, which means that whenever we leave the room door open, the toilet can be seen from the living room.

Then, the 'access balcony' does indeed looks like there is 'access' to our service yard. I have a feeling that money will need to spent on installing windows in the service yard.

I will need to look at the reasons why we selected this flat to cheer me up now.

First Update

I have been anxious to receive the next letter from HDB and was so kaypo that I log in to their webby every so often to see if they have processed our AHG application.

Well, apparently not. "In due course", they say.

Anyways, it is kinda shiok to look at the address of our flat-to-be. Hence, the above print-screen. I am pleased to see that the PCD (which is the same initials for PussyCatDolls. Ha-De-Ha) is merely 2 years away!

The first Black Friday of 2012

On the very first "Friday the 13th" of the year 2012, we attended our Flat Selection Appointment at HDB.

We count ourselves lucky to be balloted for the Sales of Balance Flat - Bukit Merah, number 297 (out of 491 available units). Then, came the dilemma of deciding on a 3-room or 4-room unit.

We spent immense effort in scouting the area and had to opportunity to look at some units, thanks to the renovation contractors.

Taken from a 40th-storey unit at Kim Tian Green. The cable cars can be seen from here.

Another unit at Kim Tian Green facing the city.

40th-storey at Havelock facing town. The dome glowing in red is Ion Orchard. A view that might be probable for the unit we like at Tiong Bahru View.

In the end, after much much consideration, we decided on Tiong Bahru View, located right beside Tiong Bahru Plaza, which will be only be ready in December 2015 (hence the lack of pictures).

See that #34-527 in red? Yep, that shall be ours!

Our 3-room cocoon.

Tiny splurge

Splurging on a bag was not on our to-do list last Saturday.

We left home dressed sloppily to have a late lunch at Jurong Point.

Then to Ikea. Raffles City. Paragon. Ion. Wisma. Taka!

All in our auntie and uncle dress code. Me without make-up on!

Unbelievable!
