CCM 126 Cut It Out

Our challenge at Crafty Cardmakers this time around is ‘Cut It Out’ or let’s see your die cuts or punches.

We are sponsored by Hobby Art Stamps with a gorgeous stamp, Rodney the Reindeer, (see blog for a picture) and also by Di’s Digis with a $12 gift certificate.

CCM 126 Cut It Out

I created my own background by repeating several wedding themed sentiments across a 6” square piece of paper on the pc. When I had printed it out I ran it through my die cutting machine with a Spellbinders Embossing folder with hearts and swirls and then swept over the raised area with Dusty Concord DI.

I then sprayed the background with Spray and Sparkle and threw some glitter on top!

The bride and groom die cuts are from Tattered Lace, the Bride die is called Bella and the Groom is called George.

I die cut George from pearl card, and then coloured bits of him, in silver grey, purple to accessorise with Bella, and just skin and hair.

Bella is a much more intricate die so I cut her out three times, one on card, for her bust head and shoulders and and actually twice on pearl paper as the die just wouldn’t cut through the card fully. The first die cut I cut out and then coloured with a purple copic to match George’s tie etc., but once I had assembled the card it didn’t show up enough, so I cut her out again, but this time I coloured the pearl paper first with Snap Dragon Luminarte Silk paint before die cutting.

DV 93 Halloween

Our challenge at Dream Valley for the next two weeks is Halloween.
We have a gorgeous Prize of Graphic 45 Papers, Flowers and Ribbon this fortnight, kindly donated by one of our team Mags.

93 Hallowe'en
My image is from All Dressed Up and I have coloured her with copics, and the mat she is on is a Spellbinder die. The papers are from Bearly Mine Designs and the cobweb die is from Memory Box. I had a bunch of glittery spiders, but they seem to have been scared away by all the conkers I have placed around my bungalow to keep the real ones out because I couldn’t find them anywhere, so I used some shrink plastic charms I made a long time back as extra embellishments.

ABC V Vibrant

Our challenge at ABC for the next two weeks is V for Vibrant. We want to see lovely vibrant colours on your creations.

We are sponsored by Oak Pond Creations and I have used one of their lovely digistamps called Hallows Night, which I have coloured with copics.

ABC V Vibrant1

The background of the image was swiped over with black soot distress ink applied with a baby wipe to give a whispy foggy look. I added the cobwebs on the fence with a white sharpie marker. The skull and crossbones and skellie on the harley were in my stash, as was the besom. Papers were freebies from Bearly Mine Designs and the cobwebs are a Memory Box die.

CCM 125 It’s Only Words

Our challenge at Crafty Cardmakers this time around is a sentiment based one. We would like to see your creations with the sentiment prominently displayed, or as the main focal point. We have  a lovely stamp and some card candi as a prize.

125 It's Only Words

My card was for one of those sad occasions, the death of a neighbour. My sentiment is an Anna Griffin stamp. Dies are from Spellbinders. I drew a border around the inside of the first mat to frame the sentiment as it seemed a little lost in the middle of that white die cut without it.

DV 92 Anything But A Card

Our challenge at Dream Valley today is Anything But A Card. We are sponsored by The Paper Shelter, who has some gorgeous digital stamps in their store.

I must apologise for the quality of my picture, I think the fact that the decoupage image was already dark, and then it’s surrounded by a very white frame has made it look flat inside.

DV 92 Anything But a Card

Anyhow I made a Picture Frame for my Daughter’s Geek Shelf! Maybe this isn’t as geeky as Dr. Who and Supernatural etc. but she is a huge Bagpuss Fan, and shares the same name as the little girl in the Bagpuss tales. So I bought some Bagpuss Decoupage when I saw it. I was very disappointed in it though as I said it’s VERY dark. Not enough contrast in the image I think.

So I decoupaged it up, you can just about see it, because of the white showing around the edges of the decoupage. I didn’t notice that when I was putting it together or I would have gone round with a dark pen, but then I guess it would have looked even flatter! It’s not quite as dark in real life!

The frame was made by following a shadow box tutorial, which I cannot now lay my hands on (just call me Mrs. Uber Unorganised), and then covered with beautiful fabric paper, which glittery flourishes all over it. The flowers are metal and they went really well I thought with the silver mirri flourish corner diecut from Tattered Lace.

The Mirror Crack’d #2 The Body Beautiful

We were absolutely overwhelmed at The Mirror Crack’d with our very first challenge. The team and I would like to thank everyone who supported us and for all your amazing entries and kind comments. We hope to see many of you again this month.

So down to business. Our challenge for you for October is The Body Beautiful. We would love to see something featuring the human form, a hand, or an eye, a mannequin to represent a body are some suggestions you could use, but we would love to see how your imagination works and what you can create. Please remember though, NO cards.

This post is a little picture heavy so apologies if it slows your machine down.

For my Body Beautiful I made a Dressed Mannequin, just for decorative purposes, for my Daughter to display in her bedroom.

Main Blog 1

I started off with a blank papier mache torso, which I covered with gesso. I then stamped a scroll pattern onto tissue paper in purple stazon and applied it to the gessoed torso with mod podge, or rather my version of the same.

01

I did the same with the foot of the base, and then inserted that into the torso. I next applied a door knob, which I had gessoed, for a head, or at least a support for her hat, and added some broken jewellery.

0203

I added fabric flowers to cover up where he arms would be.

I made clothes for her following the tips in the videos I found on Christina Griffiths’ Youtube Channel. Look for the ones mentioning Decorating Dress Forms.

I made two different skirts, which can be worn together, or separately.

0405

My skirts were made with scraps of fabric in my stash, violet net curtaining, and some lovely mesh with silver mirrored sequins adorning it, and a length of purple ribbon for the waistline. I made them detachable by adding velcro buttons to the backs. I also added gorgeous little fabric buttons all around the hem of the net skirt.

and then I made a hat…… boy did I get in a muddle. But if you follow Christina’s excellent videos you will, as I did, get there in the end

06

I started off with a piece of card, and following the instructions ended up with a crown and brim. I decorated the hat with some gorgeous fabric paper with glittered flourishes all over it that has been in my stash for years, and also some lovely little purple ribbon roses and some scalloped lace trim. I didn’t have any in purple or lilac, so I coloured it with my copics.

Here are a few more pics of the finished torso from different angles.

I have decorated a scalloped card with free papers from a magazine. The mat was cut with a free paper from a different magazine (sorry can’t remember which mag they came from). CCM 124 Triple B

Pamellia is hosting our challenge at Crafty Cardmakers this time around and she has gone with the theme of Triple ‘B’. Basically she would like to see at least three items from the following list used on your projects. You can use more of them, but at least three, and three separate items, not just 3 of one item.

Butterflies
Blue
Birthday
Banners
Buttons

124 3xB

I have used Blue, Birthday, and Butterflies as my three. My image is from Sarah Kay and I have coloured her in with copics. Used an Embossalicious folder from Crafters Companion for my background which I then coloured to match the colours in my image. The Birthday borders are also from an Embossalicious embossing folder  and I trimmed out a couple of the lines to make ribbons. The butterflies are Magnolia Doo Hickey diecuts and the image and mat behind it are spellbinders dies, labels and majestic labels 25. I distressed all my edges with Tim Holtz funky little tool and then I glittered around the outside edge with glamour dust.

We have a lovely prize on offer of a sheet of Aspects of Design stamps called Flitters and Flutters
