Our challenge at Crafty Cardmakers for the next couple of weeks is It’s A Bug’s Life. So we would like to see your main focal point as an insect, so butterfly, dragonfly, ladybird, bee etc.
We are sponsored both by Hobby Art Stamps with a gorgeous butterfly stamp sheet and also by Di’s Digistamps with £12 to spend in their lovely digi store.
I started with a blank sheet of white card and with a clarity stencil and dylusions inks I created the background. I then stamped a huge (6”) butterfly from Elusive Images, now Chocolate Baroque, onto white card with versamark and embossed in white detail powder. I sprayed over it with more dylusions, and gave a swift wipe to remove the excess ink from the embossing as that, of course, repels the ink. When it was dry I added Glamour Dust to make the butterfly sparkle.
The Happy Birthday sentiment I diecut from the waste card and overspill of the orange spray at the bottom of the stencil.
I can see from the amount of bleed that has gone under the stencil that I need something to really stick the stencil to the card, so I have ordered some Stencil Tack and I will report back if it works without tearing the card, because quite frankly I used the guaranteed not to tear Imagination Crafts stencil tape and it ripped the card to shreds! It also only held the stencil firmly in place around the outside, so would really only have been useful, had it worked, in protecting the edges!
